I have been a firefighter most of my adult life so it’s all the qualifications I have but optimistic to try any type of work in Spain, just don’t know what I can do. I know some Spanish to and actively attend language classes. My girlfriend will be with me to. Any help or guidance will be massively appreciated! Thank you! Love Seville, Granada, Andalucia and Spain in general! Fortunately, I learned early on how to drive a straight shift so when I moved to the Costa Blanca in 2006 and bought a car, it was great except for having my car confiscated twice due to traffic violations which I eventually sorted out. Unfortunately, my employer failed to obtain the documentation for me to work there legally so I had to quickly sell my car and leave. Now, I’m saving to buy a house in Spain and try to find a way to stay there permanently, if possible. Hope to cross paths with you soon.

    I enjoyed the video! I also want to move to Spain, I was wondering how you were able to rent a place, turn on electricity, internet, and any other utilities without a Spain ID? Can you please explain how that works? TYSM!

    • @EvanHailes
      @EvanHailes  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Cathy! Thank you for your comment :) So to search for rentals in Spain I recommend using the applications, Idealista and Fotocasa. Both are super user friendly and will give you a lot of information about the apt you're interested in. I don't recommend renting before you take a visit to the apt for obvious reasons! Most times, you'll be able to find something fully furnished, however electricity, wifi, gas (community) are often not included. A national ID number is usually required (NIE) and you can get that once you apply for your visa to come to Spain! I hope this was helpful. Please reach back out if you have any other questions!

      Comprar un coche viejo depende del trato, si no entiendes o no tienes confianza con el vendedor es como jugar en bolsa , puede que salga mal o bien. yo por problemas he tenido que comprar un coche de 15 años y si no tiene una rotura en 3 meses se cumplen las cuentas en positivo a uno nuevo. todo depende de como tengas la economia en ese momento y de la confianza que tengas con el vendedor ( muchos estafan u ocultan problemas en coches viejos y no tan viejos ).
      Lo de la limpieza , un poco parecido al coche, hay inquilinos que son un poco cerdos y el propietario no mira la limpieza solo tener sus ingresos cada mes por alquilar , como en el coche todo depende con que tipo de persona des ya que hay quien cuida su propiedad e inquilinos y quien le da completamente igual todo siempre que obtenga su pago .
      Imagino que como en cualquier parte del mundo todo depende de que tipo de personas te cruces en tu camino/vida . Suerte en españa y esperemos que des con buena gente en ese camino jaja

    This is the reason i always tell to people /friends coming from America to take driving lessons when they move to Europe. I mean,guys with all the respect,you have your driving license from USA,or latin America conturies,but most of you don't really know to drive. I have a friend from Venezuela who moved here in Spain and he found a car to buy. I drove him and another friend to the seller's place ,in Guadalajara ,he bought the car and he drove it back to our village,me following him....A disaster....He drove all the way at mostly 50KM/h,because ,,this road is full of curves and very thin'' ,being honked and forming a line of dozens of other cars behind him,he almost crashed in 2 roundabouts because he didn't knew he had to give priority to the cars already in the round....As he is stubborn as a donkey and refused to take lessons at a driving school because ,,it's humiliating,man,how would i look there surrounded by kids'',because he thot the driving school is kind of kindergarden or sh...t, i had to teach him myself, now he knows how to control the car even on ice and snow (me ,being romanian,i'm used to this as we have like 4 months each year of roads covered with ice and snow)

    I really pity the uninformed population. Retiring from public service made me realize that I had no means of passive income, and in 35 years, I had only moved round in circles financially. I feel very accomplished every time I remember my journey and how I've been able to grow my income to 6 figures.
