I'm totally enjoying your junkyard WLA Harley-Davidson project, and can't wait to see the completed motorcycle. I like the classic Japanese motorcycles manufactured between 1969-1983, I think they were great bikes, especially the 1976 Suzuki GS750, 1975 Honda CB750F Super Sport and Kawasaki's Z1900. I struggle with faith, but I like that you put poignant Bible Verses into your videos. I like what you do. I like the original patina of your Junkyard WLA but I think you were right to do a full restoration on it. Personally if you don't go back to red I think the motorcycle would look great in Olive green with a golden brown saddle or even with black. I just think the green would give it a great rugged look, without being too military like in style. It will good to see what you decide. Thank You for what you do and for reaching me with your kindness and sense of adventure. Regards Gary.

He is a wealth of knowledge and a nice bloke, on the colour for your bike….I had a 92 Sportster in a vintage sort of creamy yellow with brown on the tank so dark it looked black until a closer inspection, the bike continuously got good comments on the paint. The yellow/dark brown combination gave the bike a very vintage look like something out of the 40’s or 50’s, I rode into a coastal town too meet up with a lady not knowing a bike show was going on….parking was a problem so I paid the $5.00 entry fee and lined it up with other bikes and went on my way to the local pub for my rendezvous knowing I had secure parking. Several hours later I went to get my bike, the organisers of the show found me and explained they had been looking for me as my “Sportster” which was stock except for a set of slash cut pipes, diamond back seat and a pro charger air cleaner had won the trophy for best evo bike of the show! As you can imagine the big twin evo owners were not happy claiming a “girls bike” had no place winning the best evo category!!!! As it turned out it was a peoples choice voting system and the factory paint was what influenced the result, so in the end I got secured parking for the day and a trophy all for $5.00! When the show was over the organisers came across to the pub where I was staying for the night with my lady friend and we drank and laughed all night about the huge upset the Sportster caused the big twin owners with the trophy made out of a beautiful block of hardwood and a piston out of a G4 Matchless motorcycle that once held an Australian speed record sitting smack in the middle of the table!!!!! Best $5.00 I ever spent! Cheers from Oz 🍻
that was cool to see the WLC, My grandpa rode one in the war for Canada in the 40's as an MP, he told me they would weld right angle to the front vertically to head level and as you rode down the road you would hear piano wire pinging that had been strung across the road. I have a pic of him on one during the war
Don’t know if anybody mentioned it,still watching the video, most people who use Glyptal in race engines use it to aid in oil drain back. He is also right about using it on old castings, most early aluminum castings are very porous and the Glyptal does a great job of sealing cases and castings up. Just be sure to keep machined surfaces taped off or plugged when applying it. I have a set of the WLA cases also that new old stock from gov’t inventory. They were still available from places like J&P cycles the last time I got one of their antique catalogs but that’s been a while. Check out eBay if you’re looking for nos WW2 45parts,Matt Walksler usually has some available on there, pretty sure that’s where I got my gaskets and Linkert parts. Another good source is from another eBay seller, 45jeffjeff which has a lot of inventory in Canada of leftover war effort parts but there are plenty of sellers who have those parts available. Good luck with the build.

Blackout lights on WLA's weren't some "little square lights", they were covers that clipped on over the standard 4.5" round spotlights & had a small, rounded visor over a small rectangular opening to allow you to see just enough at night to see where you were going. There were additional blackout covers for the headlight & the twin taillights as well. The visors were so that none of the lights could be detected by any enemy aircraft passing over.

@@BikesandBeards Absolutely! I have been meaning to get up to see you but I was hit on my 1957 Panhead by a F350 eighteen months ago and literally had to learn how to walk again. Fantastic, making it a race bike is cool since the motor is a race bike motor! a big 4 thumbs up! I was also told green is bad luck and that was back in the late 70's it was especially pointed at the Indian color "Bullfrog" green. However, the color choice is yours Blue is always a good start!
Cool, I've got the same year Electra Glide. I rode it for a few years, it developed a weird noise so I parked it and it has been sitting ever since. Some day I will get it running again.
Bringing this guy back in was a good move. He's a genuine hotrodder and turned out to be a righteous dude...I wasn't so sure the first time lol. Thanks again, this is becoming addictive, I can't wait for the next video.
This place reminds me of an old Harley shop I used to go to in Pleasant Gap PA in the 80's when I was in the Navy. Man I loved that place. very old school little HD dealership. I wish I still had the T shirt. Come. Who wouldn't want a HD T shirt from a dealership in Pleasant Gap PA? Sadly I looked online to see if that town still had the dealership and it seems not. I am sure they could not keep it as the place was not big enough to be a parts section of one of the new mega boutique dealerships.
I’ve got to say I really love that you’ve gone towards classic vintage motorcycles lately it’s good to learn about these old historical bikes and the racing history of it all… when will you do a board track racer ? Lol
This is the best channel on TH-cam thanks for the great content I really like the way the channel has moved this has kept my interest the whole way and I check daily for new videos keep up the good work fellas
And forklifts are heavy beasts with that massive 2ish ton counterweight in the back. Ours slipped off the road once and an f250 in 4wd with it's wheels chirping on the pavement could barely pull it back on.
That trailer was way overloaded with that forklift. I seen it has 5 lug axles so it prob has 3500lb axles. Just a little tip put something like wood under back of trailer when loading it. And its better to have someone in the truck holding brake on, ive seen a few transmission get ruined by shearing off parking pin from trailer and truck rocking back and forth. Thanks for making videos and stay safe!
Hey brother, thanks for giving the shout out about my past comment on painting the bike PINK, it made me laugh and smile, I'm sure you know I was just kidding about that color, cheers to your show, I'm completely addicted to watching all your episodes, you guys seem like cool people 🍻
The local mall near me is nearly abandoned. There's maybe 10 stores out of 50 open. About 10 of the stores are filled with all of the oldest unobtaniun Harleys and Indian motorcycles. From flat trackers to street bikes. It's in auburn Maine.
I hope you plan to race this machine, and I hope you're gonna keep it because you'll never get the money out of it, you put into it. It's your bike paint any color you want. Good luck.
When you,re gonna race forklifts whoever wants to win,put your hoist backwards and race it in reverse, hoists will go faster in reverse, just watch the steering, get used to it before racing because of course it will steer differently and quicker in reverse, but most forklifts are faster in reverse. Best wishes to you all, from,Auckland,New Zealand. Awesome vid too by the way.👑👑⭐⭐👍👍💯💯✅✅🙂🙂🙂😉😉😉

I as hoping you would go this route...old but old custom the way the old-school guys did it.. everyone wants to go back to original and I get it but its cool to be originally customized... As usual..bless you guys..I'll look forward to it.. congratulations ..I Wana be the first to say congratulations on the bike
Yall land up with the best people, to talk too about old bikes, can't wait to see yours come back together.
Sean, I have to say I'm really pumped about the final outcome of this bike. I didn't think I would be interested in this old of a motorcycle but I am now!
Yeah, Grabber blue is a wicked colour. It looks really good with black trim. I've got a Maverick in Grabber blue on my channel.
Epic - I've never liked that word until NOW! ----------------- I pick dark burgundy w/black pinstripes and chrome
Whatever color you guys choose is going to be super awesome and I can't wait to hear this bad boy run!....grabber blue!
Sean this is one of the greatest channels on TH-cam. You certainly knocked the ball outta the park on this one .
Thanks for watching and joining us with this
@@BikesandBeards Absolutely! I have been meaning to get up to see you but I was hit on my 1957 Panhead by a F350 eighteen months ago and literally had to learn how to walk again. I am a chemical engineer but I love restoring old bikes and I am working on a Porsche 916 GT factroy race car that I found in a muddy field in Western Pa three years ago. I have not even gotten it off the trailer because of the accident. I also have an XS650 bobber that is 3/4 done and an ATLTF build off "mud" mower. I am out in Phoenixville but I would love to come out some time and visit.
This is more fun to watch than the old retail sales thing. Better. Plus Craig is cool.
Fantastic, making it a race bike is cool since the motor is a race bike motor! a big 4 thumbs up! I was also told green is bad luck and that was back in the late 70's it was especially pointed at the Indian color "Bullfrog" green. However, the color choice is yours Blue is always a good start!
I'm so glad to have found your channel from mischief Maker and that you are going to be working on Ed bike from Matt's off road recovery
Cool, I've got the same year Electra Glide. I rode it for a few years, it developed a weird noise so I parked it and it has been sitting ever since. Some day I will get it running again.
Very cool!
Bringing this guy back in was a good move. He's a genuine hotrodder and turned out to be a righteous dude...I wasn't so sure the first time lol. Thanks again, this is becoming addictive, I can't wait for the next video.
I love that you support the lord with your channel and make it so evident
Great episode guys. Yes that Shop and Tim would be a great place to visit and see history. Thank you Tim for showing and giving us a history lesson 👏.
Glad you enjoyed it
This place reminds me of an old Harley shop I used to go to in Pleasant Gap PA in the 80's when I was in the Navy.
Good decison, fix what is necessary, live the rest as it was. I wouldn’t touch the paint either, if it is not too bad.
I’ve got to say I really love that you’ve gone towards classic vintage motorcycles lately it’s good to learn about these old historical bikes and the racing history of it all… when will you do a board track racer ? Lol
We all need to listen closely to guys like Tim. Guys like that are badass and hardcore knowledgeable. Make him a regular!!!!!!
glad you're keeping the fenders
I've been stuck in Lancaster SC and everything he said was true... :) That was probably the equivalent to their 4 star accommodations...
I love how involved greg is with the videos guys. I like him and Sean's narrations
Red and black. 2 tone. Why only pick one color?... loving the process. See your learning a lot.... nice. Thank you.
This is the best channel on TH-cam thanks for the great content I really like the way the channel has moved this has kept my interest the whole way and I check daily for new videos keep up the good work fellas
Thank you so much
that truck made it for me, nicest thing i've seen in a while...
Royal Blue and copper. Now that would look beautiful.
Copper is nice
Your definitely going to race this wla In a vintage class! AND I CANT WAIT!!!
Really big hearted old man..
Respect..
Tip for when your trailer starts rolling: reverse back onto the ramps and the trailer will stop. Then you can set your chocks, brakes or whatever.
Thanks for making videos and stay safe!
that trailer is rated for 9900lbs
Hey brother, thanks for giving the shout out about my past comment on painting the bike PINK, it made me laugh and smile, I'm sure you know I was just kidding about that color, cheers to your show, I'm completely addicted to watching all your episodes, you guys seem like cool people 🍻
I want to see the finished bike, but I don’t want this series to end!
So cool you brought him on board to help you out. Very interesting guy, and knowledgeable.
Craigs ok. Not the best, not the worst. You a good man letting him work with you. Hopefully you can whip him into shape. 😂🤣
This is going to be SWEET. Great decision guys. Can't wait to see how it comes out. My vote is green for the color!
The local mall near me is nearly abandoned. There's maybe 10 stores out of 50 open. About 10 of the stores are filled with all of the oldest unobtaniun Harleys and Indian motorcycles. From flat trackers to street bikes. It's in auburn Maine.
Black gold and red stripes looks really good
I am loving this WLA project!
I’m glad you guys are making the WLA a “rider”. I can’t wait to see how much they charge for fixing and painting your tins.
same here
I hope you plan to race this machine, and I hope you're gonna keep it because you'll never get the money out of it, you put into it. It's your bike paint any color you want. Good luck.
we already did
When you,re gonna race forklifts whoever wants to win,put your hoist backwards and race it in reverse, hoists will go faster in reverse, just watch the steering, get used to it before racing because of course it will steer differently and quicker in reverse, but most forklifts are faster in reverse. Best wishes to you all, from,Auckland,New Zealand. Awesome vid too by the way.👑👑⭐⭐👍👍💯💯✅✅🙂🙂🙂😉😉😉
And God bless TIM .....red is faster that’s science 👍🏴🍀🙏 Epic
I really enjoy the dynamic between you and Craig it seriously makes all these videos awesome
Good choice on build .......my choice of color black & white.
Reminds me of my dad haha hes almost 80 still building and modifying his mark 1 ford escort! He's a gearbox and also specialist pretends he hates having people in his workshop but loves telling old stories
Axel*
Really happy about the decision to go with the racing theam.
