The thing I miss most from this early era of modern smartphones is the personality that each phone had. I get that with modern miniature-bezel designs and such there isn't much room for anything than a flat sterile black front, but I still think it's a shame. I'm not sure how good having all devices be so anonymous is for marketing purposes.
I don't agree with you about much room under the cover because of Sony Xperia phones. They placed a modern processor, much of RAM and ROM with amazing camera in a fairly small housing without microSD and minijack refusal!
I was only a child when this was released. But man, old android gets me nostalgic. I actually really love the old icons and just the old feel of android in general. I wish I was able to experience the simple age of Android outside of my galaxy tab 7.0
Considering Asphalt 6 is Abandonware at this point. If you haven't performed a factory reset, kindly consider dumping it for preservation. Also, I think the Galaxy S2 have an exclusive version of Aspahlt 6 called "Asphalt 6: WCG Edition".
God I love these old UI designs. Today everything feels so extremely corporate. Also its so nuts how little graphics on games for phones advanced. Like is anyone even trying today?
Samsung added the ability to get the old button noises back, just go into sound settings > system sounds and change it to retro. And enable touch sounds.
Galaxy s3 started it all for me and been Team Samsung ever since. Only galaxy I never got. Were the s1,s2, and s4 but gotten every other Galaxy s series phone since. Rocking the beast s24 ultra right now 😊
Nostalgia! I have a broken Galaxy S II HD LTE lying around in my drawer. I tried to get it repaired, but they told me it was ancient and parts are not manufactured for it anymore sadly.
Or if they have parts, are basically custom requests costing as mach as a low tier phone (yep, tried repairing my Galaxy Grand Prime aand the screen was double the price of a whole old stock device)
@myrmeko Well, the screen is broken, and that's pretty much it. Nothing else is broken apart from the screen. it's in pieces right now, and they dont have parts for it.
I recently bought a Galaxy Captivate (AT&T S1) and the same thing happened, all the last owners photos were still there. Guys, take out your SD cards before you sell your phone!
Old phones are tiny utility devices. Bluetooth MP3 players, Video players, Note taking, cameras, calculator, emulator and also can connect to a Bluetooth keyboard and write.
None of the S2 variants in the US used the big centered physical home button, instead opting for the capacitive set of Recent Apps/Home/Back/Search. Samsung didn't implement the physical home button for US models (with capacitive back & recent apps) until the S3 variants came along; I had the SPH-720T "Triband" variant of the S3 that was exclusive to both Virgin Mobile & Boost Mobile, but that one came out after the original S3 & S3 mini. Fun times until a freak accident saw the screen get destroyed *DESPITE* having it in a case & screen protector... Gaaaaaames?? Zenonia 1-4 (3 is the best), Chronicles of Inotia 3&4, Destinia, Angry Birds Star Wars 1&2, Angry Birds Transformers, Transformers: Earth Wars (this and Angry Birds Transformers were quickly updated over time to no longer support certain phones whether they had the required Android version or not), and so on.
When I was in Korea I remember getting the Samsung S2 by Olleh. There was several games I use to play but I cant recall any of the names. Anyways ive been a fan of Samsung since the launch of the S2. I'm currently on the S22 Ultra. I don't have the latest model but the S22 works perfectly for me.
those T-mobile bloatware sounds and ringtones are still triggering my PTSD, especially when I had to turn on my phone in the morning and the damn thing was extremely loud. God I still hate T-mobile.
I remember when the Samsung Galaxy I released, every carrier got its own different version. This one came out and they were all similar in design but with a small cahnge
I had the first 3 Galaxy S phones. This and the S3 I had for a while. I'm actually using the Over the Horizon ringtone from the S3 on my S24 now as it's my favorite version of it.
That was an absolutely amazing and nostalgic video! Thankyou so much for uploading it! I fully enjoyed it! Kinda disappointed u didn't play Minecraft in it 😂
Ender smells like a chilli hotdog. I typed this, watched, liked and subscribed from a Samsung Galaxy X Cover3, this thing wars realesed in 2014 and has android 4.4.4. ,the kit kat version
That was my first Android..except mine was the AT&T version. I traded my iPhone 4 for it. I was wanting to try something different. My dad said I was going to wind up regretting it because he knew how much I loved Apple. I didn't regret it. I loved the Galaxy S2...then once I was comfortable using Android, I upgraded to a Galaxy Note 2. I have gone back and forth between iPhone and Android for years.
That ambitious feeling of playing new 3D games on smartphones with the accelerometer back then was unmatched. Mobile gamings potential was and is limitless and still companies continue to use these overpowered mobile powerhouses to put out gatcha games and bullshit.
I was surprised when I first discovered this model of Samsung and realised that it was a SII because when I had the SII it was the basic model with three navigation buttons with the home button in the middle like the Gamaxy S and SIII.
loved this phone back in the day. LOVED it. The black was nicer. HOWEVER.. this must be another variant. I got mine in US but seeing online it may have been an international variant? It had a bump on the back bottom of the phone. And more boxy look like a note phone. This design is like an s3 and its ok, sort of gets job done but man oh man did i like the other one and in black. So sleek.
This phone was released during the time when it was cool to hate TouchWiz (Samsung UI) in the Android community back then. Nowadays, the current interface of Samsung phone (One UI) is just way better.
The US sucks for getting rid of 3G, it's because the government is in cahoots with mobile carriers, they did it so people had to upgrade their phones. I still have a few of the galaxies laying around that I wish I could still use, I also have a og droid I wish I could still use. Sucks 💯
I have a galaxy s(forgot the number) it's look kinda like this, but it's had broken. When i charge, it's have some "animation" but the power button won't work, so nvm
gotta say i used an s2 plus as my daily for a bit in 2018 1:04 and t-mobile still used this sound till recently in other countries i have an Austrian Telekom galaxy a3 2017 and it boots up with the exact sound and yes that's how t-mobile is usually named in europe it's usually (county name) Telekom except Romania it's just Telekom and they suck
the galaxy s2 sold in europe looks completely different and has a more distinctive design. i still like how it looks to this day
The US carriers carrying s2 is vastly different design from the rest of the world 😅
I remember mine had a home button and it was from T mobile.
Thats the one i know like i was looking at that and i was like "tf is that?"
Yeah I have the Latin American model and it's the same design as the European S2
Poor USA :(

This one and the s3 were my favorite samsung phones back in the day.
Asphalt 6 bring back old memories, the best game of the series imo
Watching this video using S24U, man made me think how far the evolution have gone. Engineering is such a piece of art

Even if it's a demo I'm sure people would play this thing for days. Well I would at least.
My very first droid when I was a kid was the S3 Mini. I didn't even know it had an oled display back then 😂
This video was uploaded and privated Why tho?
conspiracy!! was scheduled to upload at 6am. TH-cam screwed me. Not first time upload schedule on mobile studio has done this.

Just a small tactic u could use smart youtube tv on old phones like this
Fr💀
Can you insert sim card & make calls?
Still the only phone with a RGB matrix AMOLED screen
Rgb matrix?
What does that even mean?
The Nokia 808 PureView also has the RGB pattern amoled.
9:18 you've played Temple Run for exactly 3 minutes (judging by the clock) and YES, *Am not fun at parties* 😂
Galaxy s3 started it all for me and been Team Samsung ever since. Only galaxy I never got. Were the s1,s2, and s4 but gotten every other Galaxy s series phone since. Rocking the beast s24 ultra right now 😊

Depends on what's broken. You can always get a replacement from Aliexpress. Can't guarantee the quality, but it will most definitely work.
@myrmeko Well, the screen is broken, and that's pretty much it. Nothing else is broken apart from the screen. it's in pieces right now, and they dont have parts for it.

Despite the fact I had the S2 for less than a month & all these years later it's still in my top 3 favourite Android phones ever
Old phones are tiny utility devices. Bluetooth MP3 players, Video players, Note taking, cameras, calculator, emulator and also can connect to a Bluetooth keyboard and write.
I’m still rocking a fully functional Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray in 2024 as a sidekick phone, mainly use it as an mp3 player with preloaded playlists 👍

This the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch which was sorta a Sprint exclusive. And was released in September 2011 after the S2 in May 2011.
this is the SGH- T989 , a T Mobile exclusive. Not the epic though.
9:38 Over the horizon at that time was TOP (was my favorite ringtone)
those T-mobile bloatware sounds and ringtones are still triggering my PTSD, especially when I had to turn on my phone in the morning and the damn thing was extremely loud. God I still hate T-mobile.
lol I hate the T Mobile chime. I’m with you. Also all the pink ikons. Similar to sprint back in the day
I love my phone but the T mobile shit on it is so frustrating everytime I power it on 😂
I remember when the Samsung Galaxy I released, every carrier got its own different version. This one came out and they were all similar in design but with a small cahnge
7:00 that's why i don't let people hold my phone when i show them an image 😂 they always tend to want to explore 👀
lol yea I look away when people start scrolling looking for a photo 😆 I’ve seen too much.
I had the first 3 Galaxy S phones. This and the S3 I had for a while. I'm actually using the Over the Horizon ringtone from the S3 on my S24 now as it's my favorite version of it.
the at&t version was the "captivate" and it looked/felt way better

classic design always never gets bored... lots of shapes and variations, not like now

I used to go through those phones with sprint like crazy. Replacing them every couple of months through Asurion.
I manage to find a Huawei Mate 10 in perfect condition for 155 euros . I'm waiting for that 5.9 inch 2K IPS screen 16:9
I can literally share images to notes with multiwindow, especially honor phones, i do have these..
That ambitious feeling of playing new 3D games on smartphones with the accelerometer back then was unmatched. Mobile gamings potential was and is limitless and still companies continue to use these overpowered mobile powerhouses to put out gatcha games and bullshit.
please do s4 mini... i seriously consider to buy one. i want something small and great
Ok ❤️
Dude get The Samsung Galaxy S1
I was surprised when I first discovered this model of Samsung and realised that it was a SII because when I had the SII it was the basic model with three navigation buttons with the home button in the middle like the Gamaxy S and SIII.
Netflix must have only recently shut off support for the S2, because when I had an S2 from eBay in about 2020, it did work.
Owned and played a lot of asphalt 6 😅
The s2 sprint was my first phone and it was fantastic at the time compared to other phones
The tilt to zoom featire is for pics youvd already takem, brother🤞🏽
This phone was huge and amazing for its time
loved this phone back in the day. LOVED it. The black was nicer. HOWEVER.. this must be another variant. I got mine in US but seeing online it may have been an international variant? This is why l love Samsung
5 hours = 7 views?
It was night in the USA
It'd be interesting to see you update the phone with custom roms as far as it can go.
Nice smartphone video!😊
I had a s4 but unfortunately are new dog got to it and chewed it up while I was out shopping
I had the exhaustingly-named Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch. Miss that old phone.
This phone was released during the time when it was cool to hate TouchWiz (Samsung UI) in the Android community back then. Nowadays, the current interface of Samsung phone (One UI) is just way better.
Old Samsung animations is amazing than the latest
Can you do a Sony Ericsson video?
Looks good though but I think other galaxy s2 models have lineage os upgrades does this have lineage os upgrade?
It looks very good. loved it

Is that a special model for the us market ??
Ender smells like a chilli hot dog 🗣️
Had the S4 and played Asphalt 6. Pity it is not working on any phone for almost a decade
Ender smells like a chilli hot dog
I remember mine looking a little different design wise. I could be wrong but maybe not

Not sure if the pictures of those kids are yours but if they are not, just out of respect of privacy for them, you should've blurred their faces.

i always favored the standard more squared S2 than this... this has S3 dna in it a little bit
Asphalt 6 was goooooooood, and then you had to pay to progress 😂
