RIP Robbie Robertson, who penned this gem that gave Phil another opportunity to sing lead during the band's final years. Great memories of attending this show under the hot Oregon sun.
I was there . Drove up from LA sitting in the back of a pick up truck through the sun , rain and lightning . Arrived at Eugene and the parking lot was covered in blue tarps . Great shows , great days , grateful to have been part of it .
We traveled up to Oregon from the SF peninsula for this show and stood in line for what seemed like forever. Our blanket was about 4 people from the stage. Indigo Girls opened and on the prior day, Huey Lewis sat in on part of the show. Every year on 8/22 I think of this concert and listen to at least part of it. 28 years ago now. It was about 3 months prior to my 16th birthday. I remember seeing Jerry playing his Lightning Bolt and thinking about how beautiful all his guitars are 😂 Just looked up how long he had had it and apparently this was only the 2nd show in which he busted it out 😲
Phil's version of the lyrics: Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow? Who else is gonna bring you a bottle of rain? There you go moving across the water There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around Do you feel what I feel Can we make that so it's part of the deal I gotta hold you in these arms of steel Lay my heart on the line this time I wanna breathe when you breathe When you whisper like that hot summer breeze Count the beads of sweat that cover me Didn't you show me a sign this time Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow? Who else is gonna bring you a bottle of rain? There you go moving across the water There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around Do you see what I see Can you cut behind the mystery I will meet you at the witness tree Leave the whole world behind I want to come when you call I'll get to you if I have to crawl I can't hold there with these iron walls We got mountains to climb Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow? Who else is gonna bring you a bottle of rain? There you go moving across the water There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around There you go (there you go) moving across the water There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around Turning my whole world around (there you go) Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
I was at the show where this debuted (Oakland coliseum) and it was awesome. I remember seeing ONE guy who pulled out a cell phone to tell someone.....it was early in the phone daze
RIP I was there for this show and it was amazing rest easy Phil
This is the best version of Broken Arrow. #ripphillesh 😢

I come here every year, missing my Soulmate. No One else can bring me that Broken Arrow. Miss your arms of steel, David Lyle.
He was a lucky man.

So sick Phil
“Can you cut behind the mystery?
I’ll meet you at the witness tree.”
There you gow
Phil's version of the lyrics:
Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow?
Who else is gonna bring you a bottle of rain?
There you go moving across the water
There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around
Do you feel what I feel
Can we make that so it's part of the deal
I gotta hold you in these arms of steel
Lay my heart on the line this time
I wanna breathe when you breathe
When you whisper like that hot summer breeze
Count the beads of sweat that cover me
Didn't you show me a sign this time
Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow?
Who else is gonna bring you a bottle of rain?
There you go moving across the water
There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around
Do you see what I see
Can you cut behind the mystery
I will meet you at the witness tree
Leave the whole world behind
I want to come when you call
I'll get to you if I have to crawl
I can't hold there with these iron walls
We got mountains to climb
Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow?
Who else is gonna bring you a bottle of rain?
There you go moving across the water
There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around
There you go (there you go) moving across the water
There you go (there you go) turning my whole world around
Turning my whole world around (there you go)
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
