As per the OLM standard a great video with real life scenarios . I look forward to your videos makes my Astroneer life a lot easier. I had set up something similar to your auto arm transfer example but yours will be way more efficient. Thanks again Midnight ,
Well 8 been watching you for about a week now since I picked up this game on game pass for Xbox. Now I have a full auto setup for Nanos and 7 rtg so far. Thx mate
I did a search for "Astroneer Storage Sensor" in Google and the number one choice was this video. thanks for the video and DOUBLE thanks for taking the time to make all those fireworks to explain things, Was a fun bonus that you didn't have to do....so... I'll sub to your channel lol. thanks brosef. I like how you explain things so even a caveman could understand. [hey!!!]
Thank you very much for this guide! I built my first Auto Extractor setup yesterday and would like to expand it into an automated smelting area to produce resources faster without having to go back and forth to manually smelt. This guide was helpful!
Should have also done a sensor for the furnace to turn off when supply is depleted, with a delay trigger or when both the canister and furnace are empty. ;O)-
Aw, that's what I was missing. Lame. I like having my wind/solar on tall platforms at the ends of my base. I built a power sensor hooked into my Large B with two medium generators and a bunch of carbon, wanting the sensor to turn on the generators when power draw exceeded power generation either because I turned everything on or it's night/not windy. Guess that won't work unless the batteries completely drain. I suppose I could put the Talls in a line leading to the sensor and generator platform, but it just doesn't look good to me.
You should be able to use a battery sensor in the "full ot not full" to do that. I have one connected to my research station to turn it off when my last battery starts to drain.
I have dozens of floodlights lighting a huge research base and I really like the idea of turning off the lights at dawn (as soon as solar kicks in), but all my lightpoles are so spread out and integrated into the existing power network it's not going to happen. What I really really wanted to do is automate the mass production of small wind turbines and batteries but I seems there is no surrogate for the backpack printer? I was imagining the early base or satellite creating it's own power while I was out foraging for bytes and other resources. Flow-chart adjustments to current methodology are interesting to tinker with but don't really increase productivity IMO, but maybe something yet awaits to intrigue me.
I’m trying to use a storage sensor to activate a chemistry lab on repeat with medium resource canisters I can’t manage it but I feel like it should be possible
Nice video. Can you explain how I can make an automatic extraction an storage in a canisters with one extractor, one canister on top, one automatic arm an a big canister as a final storage ?
Ironically, I had the most problem with the storage sensor. It might be due to how I visualized then similar to logic gates and not specialized conditions.
I should have watched this video before messing around with automated smelting, though in my case I was trying to get one arm to smelt two different materials. I scraped that idea and decide to use two arms instead, since I want the materials to take turns being smelted. Anyway, looking at your method of smelting I can see one problem with it. If your smelting gets backed up, your smelter will drop the smelting materials onto the left side and that will eventually block the system.
@@Saeki2001 I haven't played Astroneer in some time, but that should work. I don't recall if I thought about that or not, but I probably didn't because I likely would have mentioned it if I did.

The Storage sensor wont work for me... Tried it out on almost everything i found to plug it onto but still it wont send ANY signal. Can anyone help me over here?
One thing I've trouble with is I want an autoarm to ONLY activate and empty a storage, once that said storage is FULL, and shut off when it's empty. But that doesn't seem to work for me at all. Turn on - When the storage is 100% full Turn off - When the storage is 0% full That doesn't seem to work for me, no matter what mode I'm in. It tends to pick up stuff even if the storage isn't full.
I had an issue with the automated smelting, after smelting the items went back to the input storage instead of the output storage, I'm not sure how to fix it
@@jediineducation nah the problem was that I had all my arms grabbing materials from one side of the platform, but sometimes when the items would go to the wrong side, outside of the arms' range. I just fixed it by using a different type of platform.
@@OneLastMidnight I figured it out. I had no idea. I meant the cables that co.e out of the button repeaters for example. I wish there was more than one input.
I've been having problems getting the soil centrifuge to automatically start again. I put the storage sensor on the medium storage container, hook it up to the soil centrifuge and it just stops after 1 manual go. Anybody know why? Or how to do it?
@@OneLastMidnight thanks for the reply! (Your videos/tutorials rock BTW) I have tried all the modes. But if you are 100% sure I have set it up right, maybe I missed a mode or something. I ended up setting up "a timer" of sorts that I saw on the astroneer sub reddit and that worked, but it is very convoluted.
Is the second soil can getting taken off of the center part of the centrifuge? I know it automatically takes the second one but having an arm to take it off might work if you can keep it from taking things off the sides.
You could use power gained mode (or power lost) to make lights that turn on at night
Nice explanation video. Must be feeling better to have the energy to put this together. 😉
Feeling better, thank you!

So many options now on how to control our base. Thanks for sorting it all out for us.

With the power sensor you can put it to the table so you can have multiple generators on a big table

You could use a storage sensor that detects if the storage on right of smelter is full, the smelter turns off until there is room, preventing that :p
