This comment is pure gold. Was thinking the same thing, i was oblivious to the saga for like 15 years at least, got a friend who would always talk about it, and then came the legendary edition (all in one, with the full help of the HD no moding etc), went for it, ended in like 3 weeks, noticed nothing, remembered only the Omega club song (in the whole trilogy). But a week ago went to it again, and is exactly like you call, it blends so perfectly, is pretty hard to identify the song, because is like the song was custom made, specially this one, i was just talking to my wife and then the song came into my mind, and my godness, what an awesome feeling it gave me, i even commented to her "Men, the song of this mission is awesome, like made for this moment".

@@UNSCPILOT Totally agree. It's baffling that anyone, even Bioware hasn't tried it another time for the 10 years since Mass Effect 2 has been out. The only thing people steal from Bioware games is the dialog box that you make choices with.
@@AllyMonsters Yup. It was done perfectly exactly once and then it was like everyone, including Bioware themselves, forgot how to end a game. So, so many RPG games are great right up until they just... fizzle out in the finale. And every single time I can't help but internally yell "IT'S ALREADY BEEN DONE FOR FUCK'S SAKE, JUST DO IT AGAIN". RPG developers, please, for the love of all that is holy, take notes from ME2's finale, and apply those notes.
@@Veloziraptor111 New Vegas is really one of the only other games I can think of that slightly tried to attempt it with the battle of Hoover Dam. And even then, most of the companions really only have the loyalty quests other then Arcade who can help you in the final battle with the Enclave Remnants if you handle his quest correctly. With the other factions filling that gap of ME2 companion choices that effect the suicide mission. Though sadly, ya don't get to make many choice during the Battle of Hoover Dam like in the Suicide Mission.
I love how this song incorporates the Illusive man's theme and really highlights the overall somber tone. I love it. My first playthrough ever, I managed to keep all 12 of my members alive. One of my favorite endings to a game.
@@thekatarnalchemist I almost lost him because I sent him through the vents and almost didn't get to the valve to save him. He had like 5% health remaining when I got to it.
I saved everyone my first time too, and my heart was pounding the whole time. I only vaguely remember assigning tasks but I was paralyzed a few times trying to make the right call. SUCH A GOOD GODDAMN FINAL SCENE. I need to play those games again.
My first run was a crap show. Only 4 of them survived. Tali, Grunt, Samara, and Mordin. That's what I get for panicking and not making sure my squad was ready. Only lost Legion, and Jack on my second run though. Wasn't till my 3rd run did I get everyone out alive. This theme added so much to the actual suicide mission. Also a shout out to The End Run, the track that plays at the very end of the mission. Even when I know that I'm gonna make it, that feeling when Shepard makes the jump is so amplified by the music.
@AidanPryde09 Vigil is a great piece that always puts a smile on my face, but Uncharted Worlds never fails to drag me into the setting. It's as iconic to Mass Effect as the title crawl theme is to Star Wars. Sure, we all love Binary Sunset, but that fanfare is what immerses us into the Star Wars galaxy.
I am so glad to finally see this song pop up on here. Mass Effect 2 is likely going to stay as one of my favorite games of all time. That game was made with such heart that I’m not sure the ending will ever be truly topped.
I had the biggest smile when i heard it in TS Spivet. Finally someone in the cinema industry getting great vg references in a movie (they used it minus the reaper bwaaaaahs and emotionally it fits the scene so well)
OMG, you actually did it! I've been advocating for this in like 90% of my comments. 😄 Mass Effect 2 has one of the best FINAL MISSION tracks of all time. I remember vividly when I played it for the first time all those years ago. I remember I was so immersed in it I just couldn't be distracted. The sense of urgency, the thrill, and the choices can determine the final outcome. Jesus, that was and still is an *EPIC* feeling whenever I hear it. When the drums get louder, the chore keeps growing stronger...ugh....that part makes me run for my life without looking back. One of my best trilogy games and best games I've played of my life. I'm slowly replaying this game on the Remastered version. _(Hard to find the time though)_ But damn Marco, thank you for doing this. I've been wanting to hear you react to this since the first video I saw on your channel. Thank you! _Gracie!_ 🙏
Goosebumps every time at 6:49 ish when it erupts into the final section. That's how you know the composer & performers absolutely killed it, when it can take you back in time and evoke that feeling of awe & the magnitude of the moment every time.
Mass effect 2 was the best mass effect game in my opinion but Mass effect 3 had the best OST. Like leaving earth for example, such an amazing theme to represent the events unfolding at that moment. Loved the vid marco, keep it up!
I played the trilogy recently and it was the first time ever I touched Mass Effect. Man, now I understand the hype when ME3 came out. My mind was completely blown away. An RPG on such a large scale, and your choices affect what happens in another game was so damn cool. Wish I could've been part of the fandom when it came out.
I never quite realized just how much I could hear the Spectre Induction theme echoed in the Suicide Mission theme, it really reminds me of some of the Monster Hunter videos where we can find Proof of a Hero or a main theme cleverly weaved into a monster theme.
*”Human, you've changed nothing. Your species has the attention of those infinitely your greater. That which you know as Reapers are your salvation through destruction. You will surrender your potential against the growing void. We return, and you will rise. We are the harbinger of your perfection. We will bring your species into harmony with our own. Your species will be raised to a new existence. We are the beginning, you will be the end. Prepare for our domination. Prepare for our coming!”*
6:22 that part when the vocal starts is also when you start gaining confidence and inflicting some real damage to the enemy hordes. I felt the same as the player , its been 10+ years but I still remember the feeling clearly. "we are doing this , we might just win this suicide mission"
That's interesting because I spoke with Jack Wall way back then and my first reaction after I heard suicide mission was to tell him that to me that is what courage sounded like. To me, the music sounded like what you would expect courage would sound like. An anthem to courage, being dauntless, etc.
NO matter how many games are released, Mass effects music will always hold a very special place in my heart. I always knew that my choices will never make me lose anyone, this music always made me feel like whatever is coming, youre not prepared for it.
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song, I really love how layered it is. It has elements from the main menu theme, the Illusive Man's theme, Shepard's theme, and the big bass drums of the Collector ship's theme. All coming together in one awesome piece that plays during one of, if not the most Intense and high stakes sections of any game I've played. I can even almost remember what is happening in-game alongside the music perfectly as it plays. Will always love the ME soundtrack in general, lot of pieces in ME3 are also worth a listen. If you want something else similar with layered pieces of instrumentation and intensity, may I suggest the Halo 3 Warthog run track, specifically "Halo 3 Warthog Run OST [HQ]" on TH-cam for the full version.
The Mass Effect trilogy has the best OST I've heard in a game. So emotional and epic... on the top of my head I remember the suicide mission song, leaving earth, the cure of genophage , grunt's last stand. And I am crying now.
This game is my favorite in the series. Everything in the game worked great and coalesced perfectly into the suicide mission. ME3 may have much more engaging gameplay but 2 will always hold a special place in my heart. Suicide Mission holds a special place in my heart.
Reflections is another gem in the ost. I really hope you go a Mass Effect music binge and make more content around this. Reflections is my fave, the gentle piano is what is great about that piece as a romance theme in ME2.
Mass Effect 2, a game about a group of experts, specialists, and professionals who are deeply and utterly broken. Having no purpose in life, no reason to live, or seeking redemption. Shepard, through helping them and showing them compassion and guidance as both a friend and a leader, helps them find a purpose, find a reason to live, redeem themselves, and so on. A beautiful story of taking a broken group of the best, forging deep interpersonal bonds with them, and elevating each other, together, all in the hopes of completing what is ultimately a hopeless suicide mission. But, through uplifting each other, through finding purpose, hope, and redemption, they rise above any conflict, even that of running into hell and back. A story about aiding those you've been through thick and thin with in their darkest hours. Whether or not they make it out alive, they have each other and the chance/hope no one else would give them, because of YOU. Beautiful, beautiful story that fully showcases the capability of Shepard, a deeply broken person in their own right.
Human, you've changed nothing. Your species has the attention of those infinitely your greater. That which you know as Reaper is your salvation through destruction.
The track incorporates the theme of the entire game so incredibly well. Courage in the face of insurmountable odds. An entire species, YOUR species to be precise, at stakes. "Courage does not the absence of fear. It means facing your fears and acting anyway." - that's what the track is about for me at least.
Great analysis! I find that this particular song is such a good track not only for how well it's done, but because of how well it's tied in-game to specific moments of the ending. Many of the high notes are tied to specific scenes in the game, which adds an additional layer of awesomeness to it!
Awesome to see a reaction to this, the original Mass Effect trilogy was fantastic. Hopefully get to see some reactions to some other music from the games in the future
playing since '85 and imo thats the best song for a mission ever created. yeah Final Effort and Three Gates from Halo 3 are also fantastic but this here is peak performance for a song for a mission to let you know that the shit is getting really serious.
I think I've played and beaten mass effect 2 more then 1 and 3 combined and I've beaten the entire series many times. Simply the perfect games for lack of better terms. But two is *chefs kiss*
I would love an analysis of some mass effect 3 songs, really the musical highlight of the series for me. A future for the krogan, rannoch, leaving earth, an end once and for all, reaper chase etc. Glad you love mass effect, it's a game very close to my heart! Also congrats on 100k I can't believe how fast you've been growing recently, I've been here since before 10k, you deserve it man!
Man Mass Effect is just about my all time favorite series and its music is one of those reasons, just like Cyberpunk 2077. I love that you did a vid on this, and your 'guide' comment had me dying : D
When the music gets real tense. All I see is Joker flying, doing crazy maneuvers. I grew up on Mass Effect. yet at the time, i didnt understand shit. I replayed them all together a couple years ago, back to back. and i felt SO, FUCKING, HAPPY. the whole damn trilogy. Hope, pain, love, war, desperation, extinction, unfathomable odds. Always coming out on top, being the hero, being the icon people look to.
Bit late to the party on this one, but in my humble opinion, everything about this scene in this game was completely perfect. This moment was building for three actual YEARS following the first game and I know I'm not the only person who re-loaded a save JUST to do the speech again 🤣 I don't care if it's the best game ever made (just kidding, I do, and it is) but for me, this is the best video game moment, hands down. LOVED your take on the piece of music itself, which I've always found fantastic.
This is hands down, the absolute BEST rendition of the mass effect theme. Has big "i am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all things that cry out for peace. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good! Nightmare to you!" energy. You can really feel that shepard is just one man...a normal man...standing up to eldric horrors that are the greatest threat in the history of the universe, that have toppled many civilizations. And he is essentially facing this threat alone. Even though he knows he most likely cant defeat them, he will still give it his all and die trying if he has to.
Mass Effect 2 has a perfect soundtrack IMHO. But as much as I love this piece, I gotta say, what they did with the Illusive Man's theme is nothing short of genius.
mass effect and dragon age literally saved my life. I was really depressed and wanted to leave the earth, but one day I stumbles upon the trailer of mass effect and started playing and the game ignited something in me. tho my favourite song in the series is the ending song from me1, suicide mission is my close second
I loved Mass Effect 2 as well. One of the best RPGs of that decade. After living to see past 2020, I can safely say that Mass Effect 2 is the best RPG of that decade. Sure, Mass Effect 3 beats it in gameplay, but story-wise and mission-wise, ME2 was the big daddy of the 2010s RPGs. It came out in the beginning of that decade, and was never dethroned. Kind of like how Super Mario World came out during the beginning of the 90s, and was the best platformer game in that decade.
I loved Mass Effect 2 so much back when it came out, and I've listened to its soundtrack so much that I know them all by heart. From the trilogy, I think it stands out the most with how strongly character-focused that music is, how each member of the Suicide Mission is given their own theme that rounds out their character. I think that is why people got so attached to these characters even when, purely taken by the text itself, there isn't actually that much dialogue or narration to these characters from a modern point of view when I replayed the remaster trilogy recently.
I see Mass Effect - I press like even before watching the video♥ It was so nostalgic to listen to this music... Seems it's time to enjoy the story again
I'm so glad you loved ME too. Its probably my favorite game saga of all times (yeah even considering ME3 ending....) its these games which gave me the will and motivation to be the game designer I'm now. The Mass Effect OST is one of my favorite for all the incredible feelings and memories it carries... Like "This is what you are", "Suicide Mission" and the main theme of ME3 are amongst my all time favorite songs (even if that last one is literrally painfull to handle for me). Once again you prove to be my favorite video game music TH-camr, your passion and honest love for both music and video games are a true pleasure to behold and share. You are the reason why, us, game devs, we are making games with all our guts (yeah even on very commercial games, with the worst editors, most of the devs try their best...). I unfortunately can't afford a patreon, but I hope it will help you keep doing this videos ! Can't wait to see you listening to ME3 OST and its infinite amount of tears... Little challenge : I don't know if you know anything about 40k, but if you don't, I'm very curious to see if you can guess what "Mechanicus" is about just by listening "Noosphere" or "Childrens of the Omnissiah".
There's so, so much to unpack with this piece of music and it's relationship to the companions. We get shades of The Illusive Man's theme in the intro, showing he set us on this path. Mysterious and minimal, it keeps us at arm's length with a looming threat and scant details to go on with. It has an air of alien mystique and an unknowable quality, much like the Collectors themselves - the Reapers tying it all together. Then the more traditional percussion drives us forward: the indomitable drive to survive. Into the unknown, into the fray. It's tense and energetic with its staccato. Strings join in, giving a sense of urgency. We're stuck here, we're facing an advanced technological terror, balanced in between the dying stars in the center of the galaxy. Then the French horn sounds. That - is Shepard. That is them stepping to the fore and clearly, loudly, saying "Have hope." The other instrumentation tones down and give way to that horn. There's no doubt what it is, it's the Mass Effect theme in reprise. It cuts through the doubt and worry. A rope at the edge of a cliff, a lighthouse in a dark sea. The rest of the more traditional orchestration joins in, violins and brass, drums and bells, cymbals crashing, organic and living, breathing instruments - our companions. And the horn raises them all up over the synthetic drone. It breaks away again, choral choir calling out, each voice a head turning to face you, Shepard, in their despair and their fears, all shed away as we gain their loyalty. One by one they galvanize and gain more strength and the tones deepen, enriched by the pounding of drums - our fists and fire, accelerator rounds beating the darkness back. Gregorian and operatic, the voices unify and galvanize us to tell the Collectors: "Not one more." We triumph and overcome, brazen and battered, but not without a hint of smug satisfaction of the cat who got the cream, who were told it was a suicide mission... But then it fades even more, to the alien keys and the French horn alone, and then to drums echoing into the dark, telling us the only conclusion that can exist: the Reapers are still out there, and Shepard is the only one who can lead us through the dark. We're on the cusp of war. All we did was add some ticks on the clock.
Mass effect is my all time favourite scifi game, hell, sci fi experience all together. All the charcater development, story, set pieces, combat is all held together by the music like glue, and this ost, suicide mission, fills me with so much zeal it's incredible. Fuck, guess it's time for another playthrough. 🙌
I played ME sooo long ago it was such a pleasant surprise to see a video from you on it. It was quite possible one of the best games Ive played along with Dark Souls. I really hope you can listen to Leaving Earth from Mass Effect 3, that music always makes me quite emotional.l
I just found u and i was wondering and searching if u did any mass effect series ones lol and look u just uploaded it now. Talk about the damn timing lol But yeah this song and mission hits hard specially if u lose the characters that u came to love along the way. Glad u did this one man
Mass effect music is Pure iconic. Its like Final fantasy music, you know when you hear it. I cannot wait when Mass effect Tv show finally comes out and we can hear the music, hopefully they are faitfull..
Mass Effect 2 did show its EA roots a few times as I played, and had to stop and go "...wait, I've heard this in Need for Speed back in 99... what in the...?" And you knew that the devs took full advantage of EA's collection of many things to help move things along. And ya know? Still worked perfectly. So next time you're in the Afterlife club, that's the "Showcase" version of the song Calista, and it's gotta be one of my favorite EDM pieces. So chill, and yet still so invigorating. Fits perfectly with space. God I loved Mass Effect.
Also the fact that the main driving theme has a time signature of 7/4 (ie 7 beats per bar) gives it that sense of propulsion. (Just my take on it from a musician's perspective! lol)
@@MarcoMeatball Although I did have to count myself just to check it WAS 7/4 and not 6/8! But there's something about 7/4 or 7/8 that gives music a kick. Anyway I've always liked this theme. Maybe you could do some more analysis of themes from Fallout 4 and Skyrim. As you are an opera singer I'm sure you would appreciate the Skyrim music as there is a lot of operatic type singing in that. (You may have heard it already though!) Sorry I'm new to your channel!
"I played the ever loving (BEEP) out of Mass Effect 2" I feel you Bro! I found it in the bargain bin in the Navy Exchange, in 2011, and played it 3 times in a row. I have never played any game twice. I play it, and move on to a new game. But I was so hooked, I wanted to play it again. So I downloaded ME1, and went to the local Best Buy to find Mass Effect 3, which had recently been released. The store didn't have a copy, so he searched the data base for the Jacksonville area, and found one Collector's Edition at a nearby store. He asked them to hold it for me, and I drove straight there. I have since played the trilogy many times. Now, I am thinking about a second play through of the Legendary Edition, but with many mods. Great to see a fellow fanatic, and I enjoyed your analysis of one of my all-time favorite Mass Effect songs. Do you plan to do other Mass Effect songs? And what are your thoughts about Mass Effect 4 being made as we speak?
@@MarcoMeatball I couldn't agree more. I did play Andromeda, but I waited, and modded the heck out of it. Made it playable, but still not anywhere near as good as the OT. BTW, if you ever want to try out Star Citizen, I have a second account you can try it with...or you can wait until one of their free fly events. It is best if you try it with an experienced player. It can be a bit overwhelming if you try it alone. But with an experienced player, your questions can be answered right away. Drastically reduces the learning curve. You could also just wait until Squadron 42 is released. AFAIK, that will act as a bit of a tutorial for Star Citizen. SC is the multiplayer version, and SQ42 is the single player version. Look up the Squadron 42 trailer. You will know you have it when you see Gillian Anderson in the beginning, saying, "I saw that you applied to the Flight Academy, again." In addition to her, the cast includes the following big stars: Gary Oldman Mark Hamill Henry Cavill Mark Strong Sophie Wu John Rhys-Davies Liam Cunningham Jack Huston Ben Mendelsohn Rhona Mitra Andy Serkis Ian Duncan Gemma Whelan Jason Wong Eleanor Tomlinson I don't think there has ever been an all-star cast like this in a video game, since the Mass Effect trilogy. So now I have to ask, have you ever thought about doing voice acting for video games? It seems to be the hot new thing for people with voice talent. I'm sure that singing Opera requires an amazing amount of talent, so I'm 100% positive you could be a great voice actor, also!
Oh ! My favourite video games ever ! Many people love the second game while my favourite is the third one but hell the musics are so good through the whole trilogy. This suicide mission theme was so good and so epic ! I loved to hear your analysis on it, would love to watch you speak about other pieces like Leaving Earth and other stuff from the Mass Effect trilogy. I might have not seen it if there is already some videos on it, if so I'm sorry. :D
Losing someone was just NOT acceptable so I definetely looked extensively at guides, checked everything a thousand times, just barely made the cut and then launched the suicide mission. Great analysis, as always you make it so easy to understand what's going on. Thanks Marco!
Im still in Love with that section in the game. Tthis music is perfect for that situation. it is a powerfull song and even better, it sparks the love and inspiration from the community. Like the Cover version from FamilyJules that amplifys the desperation and unwillingnes to surrender. So ... in that sense: "Releasing controll!" - Harbinger, ME2
My favourite music in ME2 is when you're working your way through the collector base under cover of the biotic sphere. A beautiful and well thought out variation of the main theme that just brings a new dimension to the music. As it well should, being the final mission and all 🙂 Other than that, ME3 is my favourite for the music. Insanely good soundtrack that elevates an already fantastic game...
Literally every time I play the (Don’t) Fear The Reaper ending in Cyberpunk, I use this masterpiece to motivate myself through it. It works amazingly well.
This song set the tone of the whole mission beautifully. Everyone is staring death in the face, and they are absolutely terrified. However, instead of falling pray to that fear they chose to fight back. They chose to face death head on. Whether they lived or died didn't matter anymore to them. They were all nothing more than outcasts, but they chose to risk everything for the galaxy which refused them. If their sacrifice meant that people could continue to live without worry, then so be it. They would gladly die if it meant the galaxy would be safe.
Whole Mass Effect 2 builds on final mission. It is a wake to nastiest crew of mean badasses gathered in Milky Way and against all expectations (including their own) they come back from Omega-4 relay.
The mass effect franchise is my favorite sci-fi franchise of all time right next to Metroid Prime. You might find it interesting if you didn't know but the sound of the Reapers was created using a very specific frequency that causes fear and anxiety
@ir1ee_cat07 it was a metal trash can lid and it was slowed down to the frequency that causes fear and anxiety. They specifically put it at that frequency for that reason. It's also the same frequency used in the lore of the game as well
I am... incredibly distracted by how much the middle of this reminds me of the Majestic Tale version of the Eleventh Doctor's theme. Which makes sense given that they're sort of used in similar high risk, big climax circumstances.
To be honest, mass effect may be the one trilogy where I cannot remember most most of the music that played during the game. Ironically, it's not because the music was bad, but rather because it was so good that it blended together with thended together with the gameplay to create an excellent experience that proves to be timeless,
Also, apologies for the random errors. Speech-to-text tech sucks...

_(Hard to find the time though)_
But damn Marco, thank you for doing this. I've been wanting to hear you react to this since the first video I saw on your channel. Thank you! _Gracie!_ 🙏
You’re welcome! Leaving earth is next on the mass effect list. My absolute favorite of the lot
@@MarcoMeatball Ohohoh! Thank you for the heads up! Yes, that is a very emotional track. I'll be waiting for it 🙏
Goosebumps every time at 6:49 ish when it erupts into the final section. That's how you know the composer & performers absolutely killed it, when it can take you back in time and evoke that feeling of awe & the magnitude of the moment every time.
Haven’t gotten to that part yet, but knew what part you were talking about, and even thinking about that part gave me chills. Wild.
Mass effect 2 was the best mass effect game in my opinion but Mass effect 3 had the best OST. Like leaving earth for example, such an amazing theme to represent the events unfolding at that moment. Loved the vid marco, keep it up!
This track is honestly one of the greatest tracks I’ve heard ever. You just feel like the biggest badass in the universe just listening to it
I played the trilogy recently and it was the first time ever I touched Mass Effect. Man, now I understand the hype when ME3 came out. My mind was completely blown away. An RPG on such a large scale, and your choices affect what happens in another game was so damn cool. Wish I could've been part of the fandom when it came out.
With this soundtrack it was like you could really grasp what was at stake at the end of Mass Effect 2
I never quite realized just how much I could hear the Spectre Induction theme echoed in the Suicide Mission theme, it really reminds me of some of the Monster Hunter videos where we can find Proof of a Hero or a main theme cleverly weaved into a monster theme.
That's a cool observation, I didn't realize!
"YOU HAVE FAILED. WE WILL FIND ANOTHER WAY. RELEASING CONTROL. "
My favorite song in any video game. Always gives me chills.
6:22 that part when the vocal starts is also when you start gaining confidence and inflicting some real damage to the enemy hordes. I felt the same as the player , its been 10+ years but I still remember the feeling clearly. "we are doing this , we might just win this suicide mission"
"Commander, the drive core just lit up like a Christmas tree!"
SUICIDE MISSION - Epic Orchestral Cover (Mass Effect Legendary Edition) take a look at this!
One of my favorite themes! So glad you reviewed it. It always invoked these building vibes, as if catalyzing everything you’ve built towards.
This whole entire trilogy has one of, if not, *THE GREATEST VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACKS OF ALL TIME*
No matter what, you gotta admit 7/8 is such an effective time signature for action and suspense. One of my favorite time signatures!
Reflections is another gem in the ost. I really hope you go a Mass Effect music binge and make more content around this. Reflections is my fave, the gentle piano is what is great about that piece as a romance theme in ME2.
Oh yeah, that's a really good one. I remeber it was hard to find back in the day.
YES! So happy to see you react to this. Suicide Mission is truly one of my favorite video game tracks of all time. Top five for sure. Thanks for this!
Dude the first experience of Mass Effect 2. Man if I could somehow experience that game again for the first time. 10/10. BioWare’s greatest moment.
playing since '85 and imo thats the best song for a mission ever created. yeah Final Effort and Three Gates from Halo 3 are also fantastic but this here is peak performance for a song for a mission to let you know that the shit is getting really serious.
I think I've played and beaten mass effect 2 more then 1 and 3 combined and I've beaten the entire series many times. Simply the perfect games for lack of better terms. But two is *chefs kiss*
Mass Effect 2 is the best!
What's still fun, is finding a mass effect video on youtube with a dialogue you might not have found in 2 or 3 playthroughts.
Marco, I was just listening to this amazing soundtrack and was hoping you would react to this. What a great timing this is.
Wow, yeah, "confident desperation" really is the perfect way to encapsulate it. Spot on.
nothin made me feel more heroic than this track playing when your blasting your way on the platform.. i love this track.
I would love an analysis of some mass effect 3 songs, really the musical highlight of the series for me. A future for the krogan, rannoch, leaving earth, an end once and for all, reaper chase etc. Glad you love mass effect, it's a game very close to my heart! Also congrats on 100k I can't believe how fast you've been growing recently, I've been here since before 10k, you deserve it man!
this music is inspired by Doctor Who The Majestic Tale and slow
Man Mass Effect is just about my all time favorite series and its music is one of those reasons, just like Cyberpunk 2077. I love that you did a vid on this, and your 'guide' comment had me dying : D
Mass Effect is my favorite games ever ! I'm happy that you react to it's music.
This song always gets my eyes wet when the french horns come in. Such an emotionally powerful piece of music.
Another banger! Love the Mass Effect games!
Thirty seconds in and I already feel the need to go all Harbinger starting with "Human, you've changed nothing!"
i am glad you have heard this one and even happier you loved the game.
I played this so often. Because whenever someone died, repeat - again! Awesome song. Until all came home in one piece.
Please do a analysis of Mass effect 3 theme "I was alone without you" or its Liara's romance theme.
Bro the illusive man theme is just sooooooo good. So iconic
I feel like this piece does an amazing job att mixing dread with excitement.
mass effect and dragon age literally saved my life. I was really depressed and wanted to leave the earth, but one day I stumbles upon the trailer of mass effect and started playing and the game ignited something in me. tho my favourite song in the series is the ending song from me1, suicide mission is my close second
This game made me feel like a badass and a hero like none other before or since.
The version of this that plays during the Long Walk section remains one of my favorite combinations of music and scene in any game I’ve ever played.
I used to listen to this on the train and cry a little every time
I see Mass Effect - I press like even before watching the video♥
It was so nostalgic to listen to this music...
Noosphere is in the queue actually in the unlisted section of my TH-cam!
@@MarcoMeatball Nice ! Can't wait to see that ! =D
I remember just recently playing the whole mass effect trilogy and it's one of my favorite video game series
Gregorian and operatic, the voices unify and galvanize us to tell the Collectors: "Not one more."
We triumph and overcome, brazen and battered, but not without a hint of smug satisfaction of the cat who got the cream, who were told it was a suicide mission...
Man , this song , this Game got me out of a Bad break up ... Thank u for teminding me
I also remember that time someone mixed this with ‘I Am the Doctor’ from Doctor Who and it fitted perfectly.
Weird.
I very much could be wrong, but the last horn at the end is like "I have to do this, what choice do I have?"
Talk about the damn timing lol
But yeah this song and mission hits hard specially if u lose the characters that u came to love along the way. Glad u did this one man
Haha that’s funny!
Mass effect music is Pure iconic. Its like Final fantasy music, you know when you hear it. I cannot wait when Mass effect Tv show finally comes out and we can hear the music, hopefully they are faitfull..
I remeber playing this game when i was like 14 so hsppy that i got to revisit it about 5x in the legendsry editon actual masterpice of soundtrack
I remember now mass effect had some great soundtracks, thanks for the reminder
Also the fact that the main driving theme has a time signature of 7/4 (ie 7 beats per bar) gives it that sense of propulsion. (Just my take on it from a musician's perspective! lol)
Appreciate the more nuanced approach! I gotta admit time signature isn’t my strong suit 🥹🥳🥰
"I played the ever loving shit out of Mass Effect 2"
Mood. Big mood. I'm going to play it again soon, too. For the uptenth time xD
"I played the ever loving (BEEP) out of Mass Effect 2"
I feel you Bro!
I'm always down for more ME! AND...as long as it's not like Andromeda...
You will know you have it when you see Gillian Anderson in the beginning, saying, "I saw that you applied to the Flight Academy, again."
In addition to her, the cast includes the following big stars:
Gary Oldman
Mark Hamill
Henry Cavill
Mark Strong
Sophie Wu
John Rhys-Davies
Liam Cunningham
Jack Huston
Ben Mendelsohn
Rhona Mitra
Andy Serkis
Ian Duncan
Gemma Whelan
Jason Wong
Eleanor Tomlinson
I don't think there has ever been an all-star cast like this in a video game, since the Mass Effect trilogy.
So now I have to ask, have you ever thought about doing voice acting for video games? It seems to be the hot new thing for people with voice talent. I'm sure that singing Opera requires an amazing amount of talent, so I'm 100% positive you could be a great voice actor, also!
So happy I didn't use a guide. But with that said, I skipped three because of who didn't make it out of ME2 in my playthrough.
Man that song always make me cry. Now I know why.
Losing someone was just NOT acceptable so I definetely looked extensively at guides, checked everything a thousand times, just barely made the cut and then launched the suicide mission.
Great analysis, as always you make it so easy to understand what's going on. Thanks Marco!
Everybody died but garrus and samara on my first playthrough. I knew nearly no characters in me3 lol.
Im still in Love with that section in the game. Tthis music is perfect for that situation. it is a powerfull song and even better, it sparks the love and inspiration from the community. Like the Cover version from FamilyJules that amplifys the desperation and unwillingnes to surrender.
So ... in that sense:
"Releasing controll!"
- Harbinger, ME2
Track's so good they didnt bother finding some cool song like me 1 and 3 for the credits, they just replayed parts of Suicide Mission
My favourite music in ME2 is when you're working your way through the collector base under cover of the biotic sphere. A beautiful and well thought out variation of the main theme that just brings a new dimension to the music. As it well should, being the final mission and all 🙂
Other than that, ME3 is my favourite for the music. Insanely good soundtrack that elevates an already fantastic game...
Every time this theme reminds me "I Am the Doctor", same vibes for me
Litteral chills….need to play the legendary edition again
I'd love to hear your take on the “An End, Once and for All” track from Mass Effect 3. This one always hits me hard.
The mass effect franchise is my favorite sci-fi franchise of all time right next to Metroid Prime. You might find it interesting if you didn't know but the sound of the Reapers was created using a very specific frequency that causes fear and anxiety
Also will! I played one of those songs! Scared the piss out of me!
@@MarcoMeatball I sometimes just listen to Reaper soundFX to get a chill
@ir1ee_cat07 it was a metal trash can lid and it was slowed down to the frequency that causes fear and anxiety. They specifically put it at that frequency for that reason. It's also the same frequency used in the lore of the game as well
The reason I love Mass Effect 2 is because, no matter how many companion missions you do, you can still lose.
I am... incredibly distracted by how much the middle of this reminds me of the Majestic Tale version of the Eleventh Doctor's theme. Which makes sense given that they're sort of used in similar high risk, big climax circumstances.
Amazing score these 3 games had
This and the SR2 Normandy launch theme...
