Will 4600 series work for a durango
This is no BS. I just installed rear Bilsteins on my 99 F150. Wow!! Night and day stable, smooth, I want to go drive my truck again now. Next time go with Bilstein, I am so happy I did!

I put these on my 2006 Chevy 2500 a few months back...what a difference! The buck n Chuck from the 5th wheel has almost disappeared completely! Enjoy the new shocks!

Bilstein had a shock for my 2007, 2500 HD Classic Silverado, that said for trucks with overhead Campers. Unreal difference with my Truck Camper on. Along with airbags and a Hellwig rear heavy-duty sway bar. I'm ready to SEMORE.
Just became a first time owner of Bilstein 4600 shocks for my 97 toyota t100 pickup, went from a shaking wheel and constantly fighting the wheel, to driving smooth with no fighting. These bilsteins are stable, and when I hit a bump, nothing. It's the greatest shock I've ever tried. Cool video man.

Bilsteins are great shocks. I run them on my ‘04 Lifted Diesel Excursion...also run the Bilstein Steering Stabilizer. Both have helped out my ride and control immensely.
I've always been happy with Bilstein shocks and related components. Always made a great shock product! I always replace my rigs with them after purchasing any vehicle!
I did too. My 2015 Dodge only has 30k miles but they are so nice the ride is great. Looking fwd to pulling my trailer this summer with them. Also added extra Rigid backup lights yesterday. Happy Trailering !!!!!! 😁

I just put Bilstein B6 4600 shocks on the back of my 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 and wow what a difference! The OEM monotube shocks were 9 years old with 73,000 miles on them. The factory exhaust had also melted the dust boot on the right rear shock when I towed my travel trailer up Parleys Canyon on I-80 between Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah. That shock was also easier to compress than the right side which tells me the heat affected it.
The ride and control is so much better with the new Bilstein shocks. Next I will have the front shocks replaced too.
Hopefully I can get some good results on the rear of my 03 silverado without raising my ride height

I replaced my rusty stock Rancho's with Bilstein 5100. I hate when the paint starts to rust. I want to thank you for your suggestion for Bulletproof Diesel. Been using Bilstein's for over 20 years and you'll really like the handling on a winding road. The first truck I put them on was a 1998 Ram 2500 that wallowed like a pig on curvy roads towing. After the replacement you could take the curve hard and in control. You won't believe the difference.

replaced Rancho adjustable shocks with Bilstein shocks when the Rancho's (with lifetime warranty) failed after one year. Dealer refused to warranty so I gave up and bought the Bilstein's. Much better shock, so live and learn.

Welcome to the Bilstein family. I'm a very happy owner after my upgrade on my Tundra Crewmax that I use for towing. I only have one season behind me but so far, so good.
How has it helped you towing?
At 7:38 he stated he is towing, at 7:49 I don’t see a trailer, but only payload cargo. BIG difference in payload hauling and towing. If you state towing then show an actual trailer and explain the hitch or pin weight!

I have Bilstein B6 shocks, which are the monotube shocks with the famous yellow body and blue boot. The problem is that they claim to be an OE replacement application that work with stock springs. However, after putting them on, I notice that these famous Bilstein monotube shocks with the yellow body and blue boot are extremely stiff. They should not list the parts as OE replacement. My original shocks had 30k miles on them and were in excellent shape, so I wasn't comparing worn out shocks with the new Bilsteins. The handling and steering feel of the monotube is noticeably better, but I wish they were a little softer. To people who are afraid of the monotube applications being too stiff, they should consider the OE grade replacement twin tube Bilsteins. They are usually about half the price of the monotube versions.
I did change my RV shocks over to Bilstein, however, I found the factory shocks to be much smoother. These give you a stiffer ride, just my opinion.
do shocks necessarily have to show oil leakage before they should be replaced? Is there a general way of inspecting the shock to tell if it needs replacement?

I have a 03 expedition and I looking to replace my shock and struts do they have them for the expedition?
Thanks for addressing an issue I am about to deal with. One question, Do you use airbags in conjunction with the shocks. I have a 2013 Ford F 150 eco boost that we tow our 2020 Cougar 27 foot trailer. We do have a load leveling hitch. Second , I wanted to support you through your store, but you do not list the F150. I like KYB gas-a-just better imo. I had 2000 Ford F250 with Bilstein 5100's and the thing road as stiff as a dump truck. KYB was much smoother.
I have a 2006 F-250 6.0 with a 4.5 inch lift kit. Do I need to buy a certain shock from them for the lift? Or can I just by a regular shock for a F-250?

At about what miles should truck shocks be replaced? We tow with a 2014 F250 Crew Cab Supper duty, 6.2L gas burner. We tow a 30’ AS Classic 2014.

I have a 1995 f350 7.5l crew cab long bed and about 9 inch lift altogether.. 35 inches all terrain tires what shocks would you recommend to have a smoother ride? Right now the truck rides like a tank
I have a Ford F250 Camper with factory suspension, but I'm confused which type to choose, 5100 or 4600.??
I bought 4 4600 series for my '13 Ford F350 DRW that only had about 8k miles on the original because all these people crowing how great they were. Eh, they are better, but they definitely were not worth getting until the originals wore out. A little better solo and seems the same towing my 15k 5th. That's my recommendation, upgrade when you wear out your originals.

I have a 2001 Chevy and they are yellow like yours and 4600 series but they have some silver ones also for my 2001 Silverado I don’t know if they are the same or are they an off brand or are they a different type I’m so confused 😓

I am about to replace my stocks shocks and started looking at the Bilstein replacements.Why did you decide on the 4600 vs the 5100 series? The forums are mixed on which series to use on a non-lifted truck and towing compatibility.
The 5100s will be better for more firmer ride control, 4600 hd also fine. I have both, love both
I ended up putting on the 5100s, and with great results. Took the bounce out when crossing the Bay Bridge.
I have a completely stock 2014 tundra that I was wanting to put the 5100’s on.. was your truck stock as well before putting them on? How have they performed since?
The old ZR2 S10 pickups and ZR2 Blazers came stock with Bilstein shocks. They do seem to last a long time. My Blazer has 187,000 miles on factory original Bilstein.
Their general fail point are the bushings.
Rubber does get old and cracks. They aren't the cheapest shock absorber. The ZR2 community knows that the only way to keep the ride quality of factory is to replace with Bilstein.
Yeah, but they could pony up to poly, and as much as I respect Bilsteins, Kings and Fox get the nod from me. My Power Wagon has 5 of these yellow tubes, and I live past three miles of dirt washboard. Meh, their ok.
I was totally thinking about Fox. If you are living on Arizona washboard then that is about as worst as I have seen. I would then put Fox or Kings on every time if I lived down a washboard road.
I put Bilstein shocks on my 1966 Coronet 500 Hemi car..............Big improvement, but not exactly the same as you truck.

I did axle work for years and I can't tell you how many people iv heard say they didn't know to service that, or what it even was.
It could just be a seal, but it could also be leaking because the bearing preload on the Pinion is gone.
Looking at the exhaust, is that even seemore?

Heard a lot of good things about these shocks. I was going to get them but we switched from a travel trailer to a class C. At that point I went with beefier sway bar on the rear and a steering dampener (basically a shock absorber for steering). That pretty much took care of the swaying and the jittery steering problems. If we have the RV long enough where shocks are needed we'll definitely be getting the Bilsteins.
I may get a steering dampener also. With the mileage on our truck, I’m sure the original is due for replacement.
Sean, what series of Bilstein did you use? We tow our outback 324cg with an 05 excursion 6.0 and need some better shocks. We get allot of bounce with the motorcycle in the front garage. Thank you!

Any quality aftermarket shock is going to be a HUGE improvement over OEM garbage. Fox, Billstien, Icon, etc... I have a 1-year old Ford F-150 Lariat FX 4 with the "upgraded offroad suspension" and it is AWFUL. One shock has already begun leaking and creaking when it compresses. The leaf springs are way too plush... all that garbage is coming off this summer for an ICON system.
Wait! I think it's 232% larger. Ok, I had Bilstein put on my '96 Chevy 1500, all 4. Now, I need to put them on my F150.

There are Bilstein's and there are Bilstiens. We have a Class A on an F53 chassis. Ford installed shocks that looked like Bilsteins, but were a mediocre performance spec that they build for OEM use by Ford. Definitely not in the after market class. I changed the OEM shocks within 6 months of getting the motorhome. Decided to go with Koni's and have experienced a major improvement in ride. There is a raging debate going on in various forums over the relative merits of after market Bilstiens vs. Koni's for F53 chassis. Both seem to do much better than the OEM's, but there seems to be variation in "best" depending upon the chassis rating and how a motorhome manufacturer loaded the chassis. I will admit, that the willingness of Bilstien to put their name on a low grade OEM shock did affect my choice.
So Rick, thanks for your comment. You bring up an excellent observation. If your F53 was a 2015 or older, then yes that chassis was equipped with BILSTEIN from the assembly line. However, those factory BILSTEIN Shocks were built with the valving forces requested and developed by Ford. BILSTEIN made those to the reciepe that Ford provided in simple terms. Our aftermarket products for the F53 Chassis (24-234511 Front & 24-234528 Rear) are a MAJOR improvement in ride and handling over the factory equipped BILSTEIN that came on the chassis. Do not misunderstand me, the quality of the factory shocks and workmanship is the same BILSTEIN quality as you would always expect. However, when OEMs use our dampers, many request us to build the dampers at their provided specifications. I would love for you to try the above dampers I gave part numbers for, I think you will like them better than what you currently have. - Thanks! Brian @ BILSTEIN
Nice shocks. Did you ask him what happens when the plastic ty-rap at the bottom of the blue boot breaks? Why a plastic ty-rap and not a stainless steel strap?
I've run these particular shocks for 20 years. Never had a zip tie break. Beside, the boots are vented anyway.
After watching the video, seeing the quality the company puts into the shock and getting a thumbs up from Sean, I would feel comfortable buying these shocks. When I seen the plastic ty-rap on the shock, my very first thought was, why didn't they use a stainless steel ty-rap. I think it would not only make the shock look better, it would show that the company spared no cost at making the best shock on the market. I'm confused. Only the word Bilstein was mentioned throughout the video. The truck got a yellow shock. During the video there was mention of the most popular Bilstein shock which was silver. So why did the truck get the yellow shock and not the silver shock which is more popular?
Bondo great observation and thanks for paying attention! In the video the silver most popular reference was for the shocks on the table for the video. Those particular ones were for class a and c motor homes. Those particular shocks have a silver zinc finish. The yellow ones for Sean’s truck required our 4600 series. They are heavy duty shocks but are yellow in color. The two most common series of BILSTEIN shocks for trucks are 4600 and 5100. 4600 series are for non lifted trucks and suvs. 5100s are for leveled or lifted. Hope this helps clear things up!

Long Long Honeymoon only if you leave them pumped up. When I’m done towing I drop them to 5 psi and I can’t tell but If i leave the 40 psi without the trailer I can definitely notice the bumps more.

I have a 2019 ford f 150 super cab will I get a better ride if I put bilsteen shocks instead of stock these trucks today ride different do to the fact that they are so light hmmm.
Hi Mike, I am Brian, the guy in the video that Sean posted. Yes, you will get a better ride! If you have done no lift or level to your truck you need to run our 4600 Series shocks. If you have lifted or leveled it, or have plans to, you need to look into the 5100 Series.
@@brianmccroskey1607 thank you the ride quality in these trucks today very wobbly I have not done it yet still on stock shocks winter roads makes it alot more wobbly I looked into getting bilstein shocks they want 2000 kind of holding off man I love the way the truck looks but man the ride sucks i hope i can get these shocks .
I replaced my original 2002 F250 150k shocks with the Blistein 5100's, a heavier duty shock than the 4600's. Very impressed, especially when towing. They do ride firmer than Ford's OEM around town drive but with my RV attached a much better ride and drive. If you have a smaller RV the 4600's will do the job, maybe better than the 5100's, if you have a larger, heavier RV and do a lot of traveling go with the 5100's the price difference in minimal.
