Viva, if the gator is reacting to the splash made by the fish on the hook, how about having a pocket full of rocks to use to trigger the gator in the opposite direction
I grew up in the swamps of Florida and have been swimming, canoeing, wading, etc. They wont mess with him and will actually avoid him, as long as they werent fed. A small child though, I would never put near the edge. It is a strange feeling going head on with a 15 foot alligator in a canoe. It will drive to avoid you but you can feel it going under you.
We swim and ski in lakes and springs all the time the gators are not really interested in you. I wouldn’t trust them around small kids or pets but they really don’t pose as big a threat as people think. I worry more about jellyfish and stingrays far more than gators.
I couldn't help noticing that your kid filmed you climbing over the fence, ahead of him. My first instinct would have been to lift my kid up to the fence before climbing over it myself.
Daily Dose of Internet uploaded some guy fishing and he pulled it from the river, the gator chased, he pulled it up further and and gator kept going. It's wild to me seeing Canadians living amongst dinosaurs. I don'y know if your family is safe down there dude.
