aaand yesterday iZotope, Brainworx and Plugin Alliance officially merged into Native Instruments, this video aged like wine :D
and not long ago Apple officially went non-Intel on MacPro, so no reliable recall of non-ARM plugins as well

Certainly a good idea to freeze tracks or bounce stems to be able to open up older sessions. On the other hand I'm not sure if I feel obliged to clients to be able to work on stuff from 5 or even more years ago... Guess I need to update my terms and conditions though... 😅

Great advice. I've made it standard housekeeping practice for every project just to stem everything out into a folder before marking the project as "done". It is absolutely just too much of a PITA to try and re-create a mix if somehow the plugin doesn't work, isn't supported, your setup or CPU changed (Apple Motorola, Apple Power PC, Apple Intel, Apple Silicon) or whatever. 👍

That's a great idea, I've never really considered doing that. I think I'm one of few engineers who actually really loves the subscriptions. Some companies do it really well, where you get to choose your favorite plugins to keep every year that you're subscribed, etc.
Owning Waves plugins, for me, has always seemed like an illusion. Back in the 2000s, it was common place for engineers to setup their mirror door G4 and never touch it for as long as they possible can. But today everyone is constantly updating, and OSs are getting released annually. I cannot even tell you how many times I've re-purchased waves plugins because it was often cheaper to buy it again on Black Friday then it would have been for WUP to get the upgrade I need, etc. I bought a Gold TDM bundle back in 2007. Ended up worthless.
I'm starting to buy some analog gear again as my solution for at least the things I can't live without and use on busses/etc.

I'm glad you mentioned that you enjoy certain subscriptions. I should clarify, I'm not anti-subscription I just don't like subscription only. As long as a company offers perpetual licenses alongside subscription then I think everyone wins.
That's funny you brought up TDM, I definitely spent a lot of money there I'll never get back 😫 I just put together a G5 Mac Pro rig with a HD3 Acel system because I need to go back and do Stems and Atmos mixes for some of the back catalog on my record label, should be fun!
At least we still have analog gear to hold its value! I don't think you can ever go wrong there, I very much enjoy mixing hybrid. Thank you for checking out the video and for taking the time to contribute to the discussion!
