    I bought this game in 1974, I think. Enjoyed it very much. It was actually called Sherco II. Nice video.

    THIS game set the gold standard for tabletop baseball games
    It took little effort and time to learn this game because it was very logical

    I never had this game but remember seeing ads for it in the '70s. I'm definitely purchasing it. As soon as I saw the name "SherCo" here I was taken back almost 50 years!

    I got this game in 1985 from “Street & Smith’s Baseball” magazine. Back then, the rules were in newspaper format. I liked the game, but it was a bit tedious to play . I was 13 then, and I played the game with family and friends who felt the same way I did. A couple of years later, I got Strat-O-Matic Baseball for my 15th birthday. Best baseball board game ever IMHO.

    The issue I have always had with tabletop games is that the types of batted balls were mostly set in stone. For instance, a triple is almost never cut and dry. Most of the time, it is a result of a faster player taking an extra base on a well hit ball. Tabletop games need to have these as Doubles with a chance for a triple using a run rating, so that there is a chance that the runner will be thrown out. After searching for the ideal game that for me simulated reality to my satisfaction, I realized there were major faults with every game on the market. Thus, I made my own game. I prefer to play seasons where every team in the set is similar, such as best team of each franchise between 1954 and 1972, or best non-pennant winning team of each franchise between 1930 and 1949. Games for purchase don't allow me to do this. For instance, I played the 1966 Dodgers last year in a set of best teams per franchise of the 1960's. They went 94-68 and finished second to the 1960 Pirates at 96-66.
    The problem is that it is too involved to mass market it, so it is only used by my old friend and myself. I gave him the first copy and kept the second one, and then I gave him my ratings' codes.
    The thing I like best about your videos is your score sheet. Before watching your videos, I took blank computer printer paper and cut them in half to make score sheets. Now I go to our local dollar store and buy college-ruled spiral notebooks with 180 pages. These allow me to play one team for an entire season with 154 or 162 games plus playoffs.

      Have you tried Replay? Just looking at the 'triples' possibilities, there's one result which is a 'triple into the corner', another one that is a 'triple into the gap', and one that is a triple unless the center or right fielder has a great throwing arm, in which case the batter is credited with a double but thrown out at third. There is also a 'basehit' that has has a chance for extras: you determine the fielder and roll against their range and arm: if higher than range but not the arm, the result is a double, and if higher than both the result is a triple. There is also a result where a batter can be thrown out when optionally trying to stretch a single into a double, with both the chance that either fielder's arm or batter's speed is taken into question. If you wished to create a die result with an optional rule for stretching a double into a triple that could easily be introduced.

      @@TabletopBaseballPlus Hi Earle, I thought you might want to know that you are getting the walks / K readings backward. The 11- thru whatever the number for the particular batter are the walk numbers and the second set would be the strike out number. That adversely affected the next video game play that you did after this. It is a topic of conversation on the Tabletop Delphi forum,which your probably aware of by now. Anyway I appreciate the videos so we can see the games we may be on the fence. Take care ,, Greg

    Nice job explaining a game that is difficult to teach; but a game that is well worth taking the time to master. Particularly important to understand that the outfielder must designate where the throw is going...either to a cutoff man or a base.

    • @martyklestadt6766
      @martyklestadt6766 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, except that it doesn't have to be designated unless the fielder or ball--wherever you're counting from--is within twelve squares of a base where a play can be made. If it isn't within twelve squares of said base, then it doesn't have to to be designated yet.

    I loved playing this game in the 70's. Much better face to face against someone else tho. Not as much fun solo.

    you got the walks and strikeouts backwards it should be 11-14 walks 15-24 strikeouts. Same with pitchers 11-12 walks 13-26 strikeouts.

    Rather than cards; separate sheet for each team. Problem solved.
