Asalam o Alekum, as a desi let me commend you on a wonderful and enlightening podcast. Born in India, raised in Pakistan and spending my life in Japan. There were many aspects in your enchanting discussion that I could recognize as my own experiences. Keep up the good work. By the way, woke up to your podcast 👍🤝😃
Dear Junaidbhai, greetings from Mumbai. It was an interesting conversation, which saw in fast fwd 1.25x speed and also skipping few sections. What caught my attention was about the History / proposed documentary section wherein the guest was narrating the sequence of events of Pakistan....Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism/ Ranjit Singh and arrival Qasim . I am not sure why the guest or yourself conveniently forgot to mention Hinduism prevailing in this part of Asia...right from Afghanistan to east of present day India. Putting forward few relevant chronological events : -Indus valley end 1900 BC -Gandhara Hindu Kingdom 800 BC -Birth of Buddha 564 BC -Birth of Mahavira (Jainism) 540 BC -Arrival of Qasim 711 AD -Sikhism / Guru nanak 1550 AD -Ranjit Singh 1800 AD Hinduism or Sanatam Dharma ( Vedic way of life) existed in Afghanistan to East of India in early period much before Buddhism or Jainism or Qasim or Sikhism arrived here. Present day Pakistan was having majority Hindu population which got slowly converted into Buddhism, Jainism , later into Muslims, Sikhs . This critical part of History is ignored even by yourself and guest , who call themselves liberal Pakistani Muslims. Documentary will be incomplete without covering Hinduism/ vedic times in this sub-continent. Running away from facts of the past , will never help anyone to know oneself in present times. Only brave can face the bitter truth.
Noone could deny or forget about Hinduism. This was a hurried chat about the documentary, which charts the beginnings of the great religions, the Rig Veda, the civilisation of the Ganges, the Kushans, Mahabharata, Chalukyas, Cholas, Guptas...
@@faizanhaqqee Thanks for the clarification , appreciate what u mentioned. wishing you the best in getting financing and kick starting this project . Looking forward to the documentary. May be "Discovery of India" or Bharat Ek Khoj...book written by Pandit Nehru cud be one of your many input material. its just a recommendation, you are always free to ignore 🙂. regards
Amazing deep discussion with Faizan (couldnt be any other way) :) very nostalgic. He's a great guy! Him and I worked at the same company, Indus TV, when Musharraf was in power and Pakistan's media revolution started. Growing up in Karachi in the 80s and 90s was a very special time and the 70's when Parsis were very much more visible. I studied at BVS school and lived close by. Went for tuition at the Parsi Colony in front of Holy Family. I grew up listening to a lot of diverse music, but my core was heavy metal and rock (later electronic). Vinyl, tapes and magazines sent regularly by friends in Scandinavia (remember Keeraang magazine). Btw. my vote for best nihari is Zahid, (Faizan, Malik! really, come on dude!). Sabri was once the biggest name in nihari, they seem to be on an incremental decline since many years. I tried it last month again after years, frankly as much as I hate to say this, it's not great anymore. On Burns road Waheed kabab flies the flag, still the same awesome kabab fry and crispy naans, their quality has gotten better infact. Fresco ke halwa puri, their halwa is EXCEPTIONAL. Jeddah ke badam zafran icecream. You guys sure stirred up many memories.
Heard it from 0 till 3:16:30 !! Yes Faizan Haqqee!! pora suna hai bhai :D wo bhi during my daily drive to office and finished in 3 days. One of the best podcasts you have done. Its interesting Faizan has never done an interview before despite being part of the Pakistani music scene. Was hoping he would talk more about Indus Music and MTV Pakistan, the famous trio that he became part of with Anoushay and Dino.

Man . Feel like part of this convo. I'm from same era. Grew up playing guitar riffs of that time . Attending concerts here n there.
Thx guys. Great talk!! Regards from The Hague.
I wish this podcast never ended!!!
Putting forward few relevant chronological events :
-Indus valley end 1900 BC
-Gandhara Hindu Kingdom 800 BC
-Birth of Buddha 564 BC
-Birth of Mahavira (Jainism) 540 BC
-Arrival of Qasim 711 AD
-Sikhism / Guru nanak 1550 AD
-Ranjit Singh 1800 AD
Hinduism or Sanatam Dharma ( Vedic way of life) existed in Afghanistan to East of India in early period much before Buddhism or Jainism or Qasim or Sikhism arrived here.
May be "Discovery of India" or Bharat Ek Khoj...book written by Pandit Nehru cud be one of your many input material. its just a recommendation, you are always free to ignore 🙂. regards
@@SanjayChauhanMumbai I appreciate that a lot mate! Thank you for the recommendation. I will certainly look it up. As will my Indian researcher!
Spot on sanjay bhai! You are right about our Sanatan Hindu Dharma Contribution in Pakistan's History!
I have never taken interest in history and it always sounded very boring to me. Thanks to this Podcast! I am now interested in knowing our history atleast!! And that word "IMLAH" i think I heard this after 20 years even while living in Karachi

Epic Podcast!! Nostalgia, history!
And lets fund this documentary!!!
It's a really fascinating podcast. I do not really use to see podcasts and even this podcast was lengthy which took me three different sittings to complete but let me admit that it is really fascinating.
I agree with you on people just reading articles and not the whole books. I've been reading at least 4 books in a week for the past eight years. I just took a break from this habit in the time I was married, cos before that I was reading at least one book a week for as long as I remember.
