  • Ethan shows how to fix the broken trunion on his 14" Rockwell/Delta bandsaw. Most 14" cast iron frame saws are identical so this method can be used with jet, Powermatic, king, general, rigid, portercable, rockwell, beaver, elephant and more!

It’s true! That’s the beauty of these old bandsaws...very simple machines!

I am happy you showed the source for the trunnions. I recently shipped my Delta band saw and the movers broke both trunnions. Figured I had an antique boat anchor since my searches from the usual suppliers turned up no longer available results. I did not realize Delta used the same deign for so many models. I was planning to make replacements from hardwood but would lose the table adjustment.
    Thanks

I'm missing the bolt and shoe piece from one of the trunnions. Where can I find one?

Thanks for the video. Are these identical left and right? Also, what's the part number? I can't find them on the stockroom supply website and would like to order them. Thanks!

I thought a pan head or bolt with washer was used from manufacture and using a flat head would wedge table in to a preset position and not allow slight adjustment to align miter slot parallel to blade. By aligning everything to miter slot as a reference point it allows full use of all accessory like fence and miter gauge so they will always be aligned parallel or perpendicular. The real reason for blade drift is because of table alignment to blade assuming guides and wheel are inline with blade and not forcing blade to flex out of position.

In replacing the blade bearings on my 14 inch delta (80's) bandsaw, i saw I could not get to the bottom blade bearing to replace it. How can I get to the bearing? Do you have a replacement? What does it look like? Thanks.

Are these replacement trunnions also pot metal like the originals? And do you guys ship outside of Canada?

Good deal Ethan, but I would not use the tapered screws you used as you can not adjust the table as there is no space to adjust the angle now.

That's a good point! I personally never adjust my table as the blade is never at a static angle...when you tilt the top wheel the blade angle will change. So whats the point? But for those who do regular hex bolts would be wise. Great comment!

What Trunnions should I replace mine with?
    It's a Delta 14 "

Well a good clean delta with a fence sells for around 500$, Chinese models a bit less.
I paid 50$ for that saw which I thought was a good deal.

I have one and it's obvious the Trunnions were designed to fail.
There is plenty of room for more support. Expect It's like it was designed to have a weak point.
