This was wonderful. I don't have too many regrets but budgeting other concerts ahead of this show as a 15 year old in 1982 has to be top of the list. I did listen to the broadcast on Radio Active though. At least until it switched off at midnight. So it is great to hear the whole show. I do wish there had been a studio recording of Backdrop. There is not enough quality Fall material on TH-cam and elsewhere. Subscribed to this channel and the podcast via Apple Podcasts. Its a fantastic life
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. Completely agree about Backdrop. Much deserving of a proper recording. Welcome to the WATF community! Cheers.
Steve hanleys book life inside the fall & mark e smiths Renegade must reads for any fan. THE FALL A ONE OFF ORIGINAL GROUP , In fine form here ... A relentless stream of albums as JOHN PEEL once said ALWAYS DIFFERENT , ALWAYS THE SAME...
@@WeAreTheFallPod I happen to agree. My fave fall bassist . hit it hard, and key to that tight fall sound. So humble and grounded A lovely patient, understanding thoughtful gem of a human being. Got into the fall after Seeing Bombast & cruisers creek on the tube. Went to prestwich and done fall tour inc red lion ( wings video ) an went to smiths house 16 winchester ave when it was vacant. Took some pics through window of where he wrote and an took an empty whisky bottle left in back garden.. Look after yourself fellow Fall man...
@@WeAreTheFallPod Yes, the show was in the Union Hall. It was broadcast live on the student Radio Active. I was at the gig. The opening acts were Riot 111 and (I think) Naked Spots Dance. I believe, for The Fall's Christchurch concert, The Clean opened for them!

I am thoroughly enjoying your podcasts and all this Fall material. How have you guys amassed such a collection?! Very much appreciated! ;)
There are a couple (ILilliteraly) that push shove and save otherwise disolved lives (you knew now) and have re-born Pyrotechnics artistes.

Love both of those books. Steve Hanley's is one of the best musician autobiographies of all time, in my opinion.

No idea! But I could see that as a diss track as well. Would love to know.
John Peel was a PDF file.
Was this show at Victoria University?
Yes, it was. I believe in the Union Hall of Victoria University, from what we've read.

@@WeAreTheFallPod I saw Fugazi there. Ian MacKaye punched a guy in the face for trying to dance.

Glad Marc Riley wasn't at that Fugazi gig!
