Same here, this has been one of my favorite songs for the las 50 years. I've heard many great versions by legendary vocalists, but I've never hear any this good, not even close! Since we started with a single-digit-midget at 6-9 years old, our little Angelina earned the title of the Barefoot Princess of Jazz. Now at 16, with performances such as this, she's fast approaching the title of the Barefoot Queen of Jazz.
And I am so glad to be living in 'the age of Angelina'.

I’ve listened to this song a 100 times. I still think it’s one of her best….bar none! Love,love it!! And I see you have finally been fully smitten by the Barefoot Princess. If you really know music, you know how good she is. She also does a Jazzy version of this that’s really good also. AJ is so good that sometimes when she sings a song she’s sung a lot, you can tell she gets a little bored doing it. You have to understand she has sung these songs professionally for more than 10 years now and she needs new material to challenge herself. I’ve been following her for many years and I can see where she’s been and also where she wants to go. And she’s almost there. I love her dearly and want the best for her!!!❤️❤️❤️

We often hear Angelina using vocal fryr rasp and whisper tone but when she wants she can sing as beautifully and with a sweet pure vibrato, with the very best jazz singers. She has all the skills in her wheelhouse and the artistic sensitivity to know how and when to use them.

I love the way she included most of her tools in this one song and left us guessing what she was going to do next! Perfection!
For something a bit more pop, give a listen to "I'm Still Holding Out For You," recorded when she was still just 10. The backstory is rather murky, but the performance is Top 10. The only extant video is fan made, but very good.
Her family has had her career on the slow roll since she was 7, Republic Records know what they have and are allowing her extremely wide latitude in regard to artistic control and social media posting of songs. In time, in due time.....

This is a really gorgeous performance. Angelina has a huge range and it gets better and better over the years. And, she handles falsetto really well too. I think that this is Angelina's first try at directing too. She sang this song twice before and used the first verse, which is usually not sung. john Angelina does not have a "huge" vocal range. It's just under 3 octaves.
Excellent reaction. Born to sing indeed... as you say there are so many great vocalists, but there is only one I have become addicted to and listen to every day. Here's the thing: this came out, what, about a year ago...and it is STILL growing on me... her version of this song at 10, sung at home sitting in a chair, is super sweet and special but her vocals in this version at 16 are out of this world. And by the way, I appreciate that she isn't more "mainstream" to... she just is what she is: Angelina, the best there is...

Absolutely amazing performance from a musical genius, The pianist is award winning Rob Christie who is the Musical Director of Republic Records who Angelina signed with aged 14 years old, and actually Angelina brought the song out on Valentines Day , the place Angelina is walking around is a Furniture shop in Los Angeles , Angelina’s beautiful soulful pitch perfect voice is amazing, her beautiful unique silvery vibrato is like no other I attended Angelina’s live concerts in Norway 🇳🇴 this summer, her stage presence was phenomenal her vocal performances absolutely amazing, great reaction thanks 🙏

Thank you very much for a very beautiful reaction. I totally agree with you, words can hardly describe what she is doing here. It's more on an emotional level, almost a soul-to-soul level. That's more or less how it has always been with Angelina tbh. You listen to her and then you're lost for words. The mark of a GREAT artist. I can't tell you how many times I've been listening to this performance (it's one of my absolute favorites by her) but I know that it is more than 100 times.
Now, as you said you wanted suggestions for other artists as well, so that you can expand your horizon so to speak, I will do something that I have never done before in an Angelina reaction, and give you a suggestion for another artist. I would LOVE to see you react to a Faroese artist by the name Eivør. Her live performance of "Falling Free" at The Old Theater in Tòrshavn (capital of the Faroe Islands) is explicitly beautiful, just believe me. I can't be THAT far out, given my love for Angelina, would you think ? Her voice is something very different, you'll see. Or hear, rather.

Aurora! Also Norwegian 26yo, selftaught from a very young age, but has been in the business as long as Angelina.
Aurora is a master in lyrics and with a very sweet and good voice..
You could start with 12345 Murder song, from the Nobel Peace Prize consert 2019, or Trough the eyes of a Child from a consert in Nidarosdomen (an epic consert by the way)

I'm a bit like you Jmax - lost for words. That said, music is AJ's game and she is owning it. This song, along with "Love Is A Game" and "At Last" (a soundcheck version) are my absolute favourites. She plays her voice like a violin virtuoso. Absolute genious. I've literally heard this 100's of times :)

I listen to all music and enjoy most music and appreciate most artists save a few. This girl is the future. RR Republic Records has a tiger a bulldozer and a builder.
The world changed the day ten years ago on a gloomy Sunday AJ stepped on that NGT stage.
I think Republic Records has a lot of sway with the radio stations and will be able to promote even this type of song when the time is right.

As someone else said, Angelina doesn't just cover a song, she uncovers it. I agree that this one was just gorgeous. I would highly recommend you reacting to Angelina at 10 years old doing the same song sitting in her living room. Her vocal skills were all there at that time as well but the innocence of that performance is breathtaking. You will not be disappointed.

Nice reaction Jmax! This one is one of my favorites from this young and talented singer. She breathes life in to this classic and gives it her own special flare with her unmatched and unique vocals. She's a music prodigy with undeniable talent and the future is extremely bright for her! By the way Jmax, there is a troll in our comments section that goes by the name James (aslo Jjack190 and Deb1404), who goes from one Angelina Jordan reactor to another, leaving negative comments, criticisms, and lies about her. Many reactors know about tis troll and have blocked his names from their pages because he can get really nasty and comments that just don't make any sense! He says stuff like Angelina is not really talented and her vocals are really not that great...HUH??? I think the poor guy feels jealous that his favorite artist isn't getting the attention Angelina has been getting. He's been doing this for months....very sad!
Angelina and her family, decided not to promote her until they feel it is the right time. The label she's signed to has accepted this, so they're holding off on promoting her fully until everyone agrees to do so. Maybe when she finishes school?

Jay...mis your better half. That said, loved it, great review! Had Angelina, did a live studio of this version ( like she has previously done on big songs). I believe she would have blown up the Jazz top 10 this year. This was an amazing vocal...more importantly, its amazing to listen too.
That said, I will make my weekly pitch, just in case her mother or grandmother are reading You Tube reviews. PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE. MOVE HER TO NASHVILLE! she can work out of the Republic studio there. Before she turns 18 get her out of that cesspool of a city LA, before it swallows her up!

That voice is crazy. Will serve her well for sure. For now while she is only 16 it will be a bad thing for some to sound that beautiful. It sounds like big money isn't allowed to promote her yet, til her family gives the ok. It also seems like the industry knows exactly who and what she is and will absolutely give her every opportunity to succeed when that time comes. So I like how you put it, successful, exactly as successful as she wants to be, she will have earned it and hopefully gets it, whatever it means to her.

Thank you for your reaction. Its not Angelina's normal eye coulor but its artificial and looks cold without soul but she has beautiful soulful brown eyes. Fortunately she is still the best artist out there. For me the video is also a distraction but I can always just listen to her voice that is just out of this world.
