The race of Jarl oppressed the race of thrall with a greater difficulty of oppressing the armed center who some call karls . working class who has a history of killing kings for overtaxing them and being the majority . Kings lived in wooden houses and had a limited men to call on to defend him and are easily overwhelmed by the majority and sacrificed to the old gods that combination of religion and execution' forcing kings to care about the feeling of his people. Christians found the best Solution. castles and disarming the peasants and turning the commoners into peasants and serfs. The race of thralls was not native unlike the other two classes, Ugly, stupid and dark haired that some seem to believe where Russians. Icelander did not want a king to rule over them and had trouble convincing Danish woman to move to unsettled Iceland resulting in the ice landers marrying Irish slave girls. Once ice land was settle Danish woman started to migrate to Ice land and helped dilute the Irish DNA. Thralls had more rights then a roman slave who can be more easily raped, tortured and brutalized. The thralls had more rights then the later Christian indentured servants who can also be raped and brutalized. Pagans where clearly nicer then the later Christians who turned woman into nothing but live stock and property. The Germanic tribes just had a less brutal culture then the romans and later Christians . Christian fanaticism , greed, obsession's with control and power won in the end and was even able to con the people into giving up their freedoms in the name of that control. Christians are no longer in a Christian created dark age and this does not mean we will not move into a whole new type of dark age that could be even more brutal then such dark times . Religious or not religious.

I think the problem is fundamentalist believe that Paul or Peter is the word of God. No, Jesus was, and I think we know know what Jesus said.
Most of the sayings I think are accurate. If you even compare the Gospel of Thomas which was taken out of the canon, it is still 80% the same. And I consider Thomas important clues as well.
Paul condoned slavery. Why would anyone consider Paul the final word?
Jesus said Peter would be the foundation of the church and also calls Peter, Satan. The church is flawed, and Jesus warned the church will be flawed. As humans are flawed.
But the heart of Jesus message was simple love others as thyself and love God. Loving others Leads to a greater understanding of yourself, others, and of God’s totality, and a more beautiful life. And it’s hard to do. I hated those who hurt me, Jesus reveals a way beyond that.
Jesus also said don’t be a hypocrite and examine yourself first. Lots of Christians don’t.
You don’t have to be a Christian, not here to convert you. But I think you will gain a great deal understanding what Jesus said. Maybe even more than Christians.

      Dear Laurie,
I am also a reformed evangelical. I have distanced myself from the evangelical (political) movement and no longer call myself evangelical, but I still identify myself as a follower of Christ (Christian), although it does take some effort at times. I fully understand where you're coming because I've been there, but be careful not to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Jesus has nothing to do with racist attitudes and deceptions. Racism is based on the lie that one race is superior to another when the truth is that God created everyone equally. It's a power trip anyway you look at it, from attitudes regarding white supremacy to the false notion that spiritual unity can be achieved through the political realm, but, unfortunately, this represents false power because it's based on false assumptions. The "leaders" of the political evangelical movement are merely faulty human being who have gotten caught up in the world's way of doing things and have lost sight of the primary purpose of the Church. Lust for power and control defines the degeneration of mankind throughout history and even in the Church. This Trump-worship stuff is massive deception on a grand scale, and was, I believe, initiated by the devil himself in order to make the Church appear unattractive to the world, and up until now, it appears to be working, for what thoughtful and caring person would want to associate themselves with people who love and follow a clearly malevolent man such as Trump? But I also believe that God will have the last word in these matters.
Political evangelicals have been misled into believe two falsehoods: 1) that they must change secular society to reflect God's laws by any means necessary, and 2) they, as Christians, must have representation in the government. Satan is a master of subtlety and deception. God has commanded His Church to do neither of these things, but only to love each other and build each other up in the most holy Faith and the love of Christ through His Holy Spirit. These self-appointed "evangelical" leaders don't understand that God is not interested in changing people's behavior who are outside of the Church, but He is and will always be focused on the heart of man. When He has our hearts, He has all of us. God bless you, my dear!

@@idjles It is sad, however I take some issue with your assertion about Jesus and the “good book”, since these RW Christo-Fascists have PLENTY of material in there to draw from.
Religion and Politics have been intermingling for millennia (Emp. Constantine's "conversion"), it was our secular LIBERAL democracy that was supposed to mitigate that tendency. When the GOP decided to “take God’s side” as it were on "morality issues", this destination was inevitable. They did this because they could, just as Muslim extremists or Jewish extremists do.
IF GOP voters had not fallen so hard for these moronic “Wedge Issues” (abortion/gay rights) and IF it didn’t continually pay off for RW leaders like Trump, we wouldn’t be having these problems and THEY (Conservative Republicans) wouldn’t be able to employ their patented “Christian Persecution Complex” as GASLIGHTING over how they are destroying that C&S wall that protects our democracy.

I hurt her emotionally, and I know I missed an opportunity for a lifetime of love with her due to my racism. I believed that because I didn't own slaves or use the N word that I was not racist. I was wrong. God has shown me the truth about myself, and He is still working on me. I've learned that those of us who want to move closer to God will, like His prophets, see the ugliness in our character. I must keep moving toward HIm, though, and learn to not run from pain nor shame. It is painful to see ourselves as we really are, but when I see that Jesus doesn't condemn me and bids me, "Go, and sin no more," I find the freedom that His love gives me. Be careful. There is an undertone of Marxism in CRT and feminist theory. It focuses on the class struggle. Identify different classes. Look at which members of the class have advantages. Then, blame differences between classes on systemic racism. Redefine "violence" to include "cultural violence." Advantage is equated with systemic violence. Please note. Marxism is rooted in atheism, which is why it is ironic that Baylor, a Christian institution, would promote a theory rooted in Marxism.

@@earlinebeaman684 Read a history book, like Allister Cooke's America. The story of America is about a people who escaped from a hopeless lite in the slums of London, who had no land of their own, who lived hand to mouth, who were perpetually in debt, or were persecuted because they wanted to follow the Bible instead of the dictates of the State Church. They came for freedom. Some of them were massacred by the native Americans. Some made peace with the native Americans and had productive trading relationships. They endured poverty, hunger, starvation, and disease. Some early colonies failed. They didn't come to dominate and oppress. They came because they wanted freedom to enjoy the fruits of their labor, to worship, or to lead Godly lives. Yes there were oppressors among them, but to the largest extent, they just wanted to push the plow and feed their families, and make no mistake, the plowboys and the dirt farmers vastly outnumbered the slave masters. This modern day myth of white male supremacy ignores the actual facts of history. As far as America's rise to an economic power, it didn't happen because of white male supremacy. It happened because America had a legal system that rewarded people for technical genius and innovation. Mass production and labor saving devices were invented, not to oppress labor, but to free labor from its tedium. The whole point of mass production was so that more units could be sold at a lower cost for the benefit of a larger number of people, and the profits could be shared among the workers who would otherwise be stuck with low wages. Critical Race Theory has Marxist roots and is little more than a retelling of Liberation Theology. It is rooted in the class warfare espoused by Marx. It is the idea that from time immemorial, there is a struggle between the oppressor and the oppressed. And look at the revolutions we've had to elevate the oppressed class above the oppressors. Think of revolutionary France. That revolution devolved into chaos. Think of the Russian revolution. It devolved into a struggle between the Trotskyites and the Leninists. Look at Russia today. Look at the socialist dream in Venezuela and Nicaragua. Look at what happened when the socialist dream launched a Hitler, a Castro, a Mao, or a Joseph Stalin. American was about individual freedom-not domination and oppression.

As I understand it Critical Race Theory (or CRT) is a legal theory taught in university detailing how the law has worked to further entrench racism (& indeed other forms of ism like sexism & ableism) in society at large.
Like your voting laws in some states. Despite passage of the 15th and 19th Amendments many people of colour and women of all colours are still legally denied the right to vote based on other disqualifiers - such as not being able to pay a poll tax.
Teaching about racism and slavery teaches a side of history some white folk don't want acknowledge to begin with. Hence lumping such teaching in with CRT taught only in university.
We have similar issues here in Australia - Indigenous history just isn't taught - with the exception of universities. Despite our Prime Minister officially apologising to Indigenous Australians for the genocidal policies of the Stolen Generations.
What has happened is some white blokes want more than what they're entitled to and not suffer any consequences.

Essentially, racist people want to BE racist without having to look in the mirror or have their kids see them for who they really are.

Like a real paint brush, the strokes cover a wide swath, but the edges are less opaque. That is how “painting with a broad brush” works. It is true that most people act certain ways, and there are outliers on the edges who do not. What is “word salad” in the context of what they were discussing? Evangelical churches are huge, influential organizations that have direct access to millions of Americans each Sunday, and often on other nights of the week. One funny thing I notice at large evangelical churches near me, is how fast the patrons race out of church in their cars, cutting off other drivers, to get out as quick as possible. Perhaps, so they may get to their favorite breakfast spot before everyone else, I don’t know, but I think about what they must’ve learned that day, that they then got in their car, and immediately started driving like a maniac. Many evangelical people I know, may not be openly racist, using derogatory language to describe others openly, but they are definitely racist, and definitely believe in a weird American patriotism that is oddly masculine and brute, sort of like the guys who killed Jesus. I wonder, has it always been this way? Like, those people who long ago, went to that large drive in church, pastored by that famous dead guy who had near unfettered access to US Presidents for decades, did they believe the same things they believe now? Only, now we know it more because of social media? And, like everything else, has it gotten more extreme over the years? That happens to everything. Metallica was fringe music, then it became mainstream. Conspiracy theories have been fringe and are now mainstream thoughts. Introducing ideas to larger audiences over time will do that. It certainly is interesting that the millions of Americans who identify as evangelicals believe many of these things. They would probably kill Jesus if he somehow came back.

There’s a type of madness that is specific to the USA that has infected “Evangelicals” and other w Christians. The Christianity they espouse is suspect and compromised because of their unwillingness to practice the whole gospel. This inevitably involves public and copious repentance and repair. I wonder also, Will Christ return before they are able to humble themselves and turn away from the chains of pride, partiality and mammon? I have often been shocked to the response I get from white people when I tell them that Jesus was not a white Anglo-Saxon. Jesus, in all probability was an olive-skinned, black curly haired average looking guy. He had very radical ideas, even for our current time, that men and women are equal, that every person was worthy of respect, and that ALL fell short of God's expectations. Sometimes I get the "yeah, I know" response, and then that same person will say "Trump's gonna save America". The people who agree Jesus is middle-eastern, can't see that middle-easterners are the same ethnically as Jesus! Their "Lord and Master" is the same as the Israelis, Palestinians, Turks, and derogatory name-calling of people in that region! I really don't understand what it is in the white European mind that make it think that it is superior in worth and intellect, because the One who came down from heaven, and chose to inhabit the body of a Jewish enslaved man didn't choose a white, privileged entity. In fact, none of the original 12 apostles were white. Or rich. Or free. Jesus knew all about racism. He was under Roman occupation and THEY thought Jews were less than dirt. Don't get me wrong..Jews thought THEMSELVES high..their own neighbors, the Samaritans, were not to be talked to. So how can a true Christian be one if they look at another human and say, "you don't deserve x y or z", when Jesus himself showed love and kindness to ANYONE he met? Even his own Apostle Peter was admonished by God for his racism in who to share the gospel with. The whole point of the vision of the sheet full of animals wasn't just about food. It was about race and class.

I appreciate this so much. This is what people of color are talking about when they say they are tired of explaining racism to white people, figure it out yourself. I'm a person of color, raised evangelical, around mostly white people. It's difficult to explain to a white person how it feels when some folks are racist to you, both explicitly and implicitly. It's even more difficult to describe watching friends or family be racist against other races that are not yours. Or watching them get racist of your own race because you are in the ingroup and they just seem to forget you are there. I have watched over the years as overtly racist social and policy justifications have morphed into "color-blind" social and policy justifications. If those are your policy positions, you can't just ignore their history. The North remembers. You can't just play a zero-sum game of domination vs subjugation without intellectually justifying it. I do recognize the Right's effort to grapple with race on their own with their CRT campaign. But the spirit of the campaign is not to understand and empathize. It's a campaign to dominate, subjugate, and stay in control. Same with overturning Roe v Wade, dominate and subjugate women in this area once again. Even if your sincerely held belief is that a distinct life starts at conception, the impulse is to dominate and subjugate in a zero-sum outcome.

You're indeed right, it's a game of domination and subjugation!
Case in point, check out the comments below.
It's like people want to erase the rights/views of others (trying to play God).
Then they talk about Christianity. The 'Jesus' they claim to represent gives free choice. He doesn't force anyone to come to Him. It's our choice!
And, He doesn't need anyone to be His representative when all along their intent is to instill their 'will'!!
The hypocrisy is so blatant!! It's these same people who promote 'the importance of life' and when it starts.
Yet, they are SILENT when Kyle Rittenhouse goes on the rampage and kills innocent people!
They're SILENT when a WS goes to an African American church in North Carolina and is embraced with open arms and prayed for, yet turns around and slays the pastor and several congregants.
Ditto for the yte cops who kill innocent Black men/women and they stay SILENT!!
These so-called yte Christians are SILENT with these 'killings'!! SMH!!
Miss us with your form of 'Christianity'!!
I can tell you when Messiah returns, He will tell these same 'Christians' "depart from Me, I NEVER KNEW you"!!💯

@@mistahoward9772Sure, let me clarify. This nation was founded upon a world where women and black people had no political power, and native people were viewed as an obstacle to progress including bounties put on their lives; all of this well into the 20th century. As such, our institutions have these biases built into them. The U.S. was not founded as a Christian nation, it was founded as a secular nation but had mostly Christians in it, and it was they who built our institutions. Examining these biases can be difficult if you've never experienced them. But the thing is, we have all experienced this, it's just a human condition, just not everyone from the same viewpoint. For example, when a white person talks about going somewhere, for instance, a high school, and they are the only white person and the dread they feel. Well, ya, welcome to my world. And being mixed race, when I was born, public opinion was still a majority that my existence was wrong. That's a tough conversation to have if you were on the other side. If you didn't know, it's sort of a meme now, that's been around since social media took off, that people of color are tired of explaining racism to white people. Been doing it for centuries and they still don't get it. Which Southpark did a perfect spoof of in an episode. The point of my previous post is that I see the campaign against CRT, let's not get into the weeds of its definition, as another attempt to reckon with this country's history. But on their own terms in a self-motivated way. I think it's a good thing, even if I see it as remedial and just the same old white grievances politically repurposed. As for Roe, I just think it's immoral to tell someone what medical attention they can choose for their own body. If I believe that for myself, then I sure as hell don't believe it should be in the hands of lawmakers. Roe v Wade was the compromise, now it is going to be a legal wild west if that ruling actually goes through. It was passed as a compromise because there is just no good philosophical foundation to metaphysically determine where a fetus begins or ends with the mother. Saying it is already a human on conception is a metaphysical overstep that I don't think can be logically defended. I hope that clarifies. Sorry that the clarification was longer than the rant lol

I know a guy named Jett Cheek. He used to be a UNT jazz student in the 1990's. People involved in jazz are almost invariably liberals. However, this guy became a band director at the local Methodist church and shamefully took on the right-wing world view of white supremacists that usually attend such churches. When Trump became president, I remember running into posts on Cheek's Facebook page, in which he was ridiculing Latinos, talking about them as second-rate human beings, and accusing them of human sacrifice. That's what conservative Christianity is all about - treating one's own inferiority complexes through putting down others, especially those that are different from your in-group. Shame, shame, shame!

The womb of American racism and a good deal of the concept of race and racial hierarchy is WHITE ANGLO SAXON PROTESTANTISM. The Pilgrims were Christian fanatics that had no problem with torture and genocide, after all the Ole Israelites did it! So god must condone it cause it’s in the Good Book. Christian based racism lurks behind a great deal in USA history.

I am an atheist who was raised without religion, so my experiences are unlike the majority of atheists in America, who are ex-Christians.
I've long had ongoing debates with ex-Christian atheists about this topic.
Christians are measurably more racist than atheists. I argue that this is a circumstance of history: for a long time it was used to justify slavery, and after the Civil War, to justify racism against African-Americans. More recently, they aligned with political conservatives, who are inherently more racist.
Ex-Christian atheists on the other hand argue that the Bible itself makes people more racist due to the content of the stories (e.g. rationalizing wiping out entire cities or civilizations), that even if the circumstances of American history were different, Christians would still be inherently more racist than atheists.
I must confess: as I get older, I'm starting to agree with them more and my own positions less. Christianity (on average, I acknowledge that there are plenty of Christians far less racist than I am, and certain individual demoninations [e.g. Unitarians] are measurably less racist than atheists) just keeps getting more and racist as time goes on, and most American Christians are not listening to more reasonable Christians like this who are trying to sound alarm bells about where Christianity is going. There does not appear to be any brakes on this particular train, and that thought is terrifying.

The stories of the Bible those people talk about are part of the Old Testament which talks of the covenant of the Jews with God. Christians are followers of Christ. Christ brought a new covenant with God, it isn't just for a single people anymore, it's for every single person on Earth. Christianity is anti-racist at its core, but as usual, human beings perverted the message for their own benefit.

Aerosolized bullshit. I’m of Inuit ancestry and have studied the ubiquitous, tiresome, vocal whyte leftist woke agenda patronizing susceptible black people and converting the U.S.and Europe into a population of whining, hypersensitive neurotics who perpetuate what used to be a problem in the United States and Europe but now pales in comparison to other parts of the world where people of color opress their own, or enslave them.
Ex: The west ended slavery here 200 years ago, yet on the African continent, blacks continue genocide, and enslaving other blacks!
Now, free speech is being threatened, historical revisionism underway, and sexualization of children.
College professors who embrace free speech are demonized, fired, and churches now becoming infected w/ woke agendas.
You would benefit from reading “the diversity delusion” by Heather MacDonald or “the death of Europe” or “attack on the west” or “madness of crowds” by Douglas Murray or practically anything by Thomas‘s Sowell to enlighten yourself to the insanity that is pervading cultures. “Black Snowflakes” is another book specifically addressing you. And one certain way to perpetuate the concept, of “Race” and deepening it’s stifling stranglehold on the dumbed-down, over-accommodating West, is to keep using the term frequently in conversation, and allowing it to define who you are. But that’s what’s happening.
