  • Today we have not one but two Porsche 992 GT3's in the workshop. They are both getting some serious upgrades to make them perform better at track but taking totally different routes.
We transform a Manthey Equipped 992 GT3 with our Suspension Secrets Camber Kit, Michelin Cup2R Tyres and Surface Transforms Brakes.
We then build a track focused weapon from the second 992 GT3 with our Suspension Secrets Track Pack, KW V5 Clubsport Coilovers, Essex Racing AP Racing Brake Kit and Suspension Secrets Rear Monoballs.

Love the detailed explanation! One question though, the team at manthey racing explained in a video of Misha that the most aggressive setting on the front Venturi duct (on a gt4rs) is ‘overkill’ because the rear wing can’t deliver enough downforce to keep the car in balance with this setting. I understand that this MR wing delivers more downforce compared to the OEM one, but wouldn’t manthey have chosen the most optimal setting for the front venturi to compliment the downforce of the wing? Just being curious what your thoughts are on this 🙂

Great question 👍 we are personally big fans of having as little understeer as possible and we find that running the ducts fully open (especially with the uprated rear wing) sets a perfect balance particularly out on track. We have found the setup they come with to still exhibit quite a lot of understeer with some of our customers and have found this duct setting helps a lot to dial it out and make the car much more neutral and engaging to drive 👍

You mentioned brake dust on the 992, but you shouldn’t get any brake dust on the OEM Carbon Ceramics? I only ask, as I seem to get a lot of what looks like brake dust after a track day 🤷‍♂️, I never saw any on my 991.2 though.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes the OEM pads used on the ceramics on the 992 cause a lot of brake dust as standard out on track. Switching across to a Pagid pad has solved this for lots of our customers 👍

Wicked vid. The manthey coilovers literally just kw but diff colour springs or are they valved differently with different spring weights?

Thank you 🙌 they are made by KW but to the manthey specs for spring rates and valving 👍

How would a KW 4-way adjustable suspension compare performance wise to a semi-active dampers such as TracTive assuming both were optimized for maximum track performance?

Its difficult to say without a direct side by side but we are big fans of a passive suspension system and the 4 way valving has much more complexity and subtlety to the handling which would make it our personal favorite.

    love it as usual!
I have a question about rear axle if you don't mind
how come bmw Ms still have divorces rear dampers an porsche doesn't?

Thanks very much! It’s a combination of packaging and cost. With the engine being at the rear in the Porsche there isn’t a lot of room to package a divorced setup. It’s also more expensive for a true coilover unit usually which is less of an issue for the Porsche line up 👍

      @@SuspensionSecretsStella content continues 😊.
What are the performance differences between a true coil over and split unit?

Basically spend another $30-$50,000 for upgrades 😂

If you choose the manthey racing route then yes that’s about right but the upgrades we carried out on the blue 992 is a much more cost effective option 👍
