RT Playing Tears of the Kingdom first time: Accidentally wanders into final boss area, kills everything, runs out of arrows, leaves, no deaths.
RT Playing Shovel knight: Dies every 8 minutes like clockwork.

Dont forget, nintendo designs games that are challenging, but still relativly doable by anyone at any age. Indie games are able to make actual difficult games, and take time to learn and get used to

@@bobbycrofts9241Yeah, but this game isn't that bad. It's tricky at points, but it's really not that hard. Espeically compared to some of the other games Dan has played.

From the information in the scroll at the end, Dan played in the stages for 191 minutes and died a total of 49 times giving him one death every 3.9 minutes in stage.
The reason why RT is currently in Las Vegas isn't for Twitchcon but also to gamble enough money to acquire the Gold Armor and unlock the true ending of this timeless masterpiece!

Does he even know what Sekiro is? I don’t watch all of his videos, and I know he’s played From Software video games before, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never heard him mention that game before.
@@lazycat1278 He was sponsored to play it when it first came out and did a single video on it. A few months ago he held a CPU tournament in smash ultimate, naming the fighters after games and promising that he would make a series on the game that won. As you can guess, Sekiro won, but to this date he hasn't played it.

@@grzegorzbrzeczyszczykiewic563Yeah tbh I played Shovel of Hope first, got so fed up with the Tower of Fate and its non-stop instant kills at every turn that I quit, and only just picked the game back up. I started with Specter of Torment this time because I was like “well it says it’s a prequel story, might as well do this and King of Cards before Shovel of Hope” and god DAMN Specter Knight and King Knight are just way more fun to play as

Most likely when he doesn't have other plans or his current PC can't handle the games he wants. That being said, he has plans for when he gets back to Ireland so it's gonna be a long wait I assume. I'm still holding on to PMD side chapters. Hopefully next year the theme is revisiting/finishing up games but probably not lmao

@@egbertmilton4003 I honestly don't know. I personally think Plague of Shadows is the weakest of the 4 gameplay wise, but I think Dan would at least appreciate it. I know some folks really really like Plague of Shadows, so maybe it'd be for Dan, who knows! I would hope he gets to all of them eventually, though.
Can’t wait for Plague Knight Dances Into Masterpiece Territory and Tony Hawk’s Medieval Adventure, to say nothing of Card Order Matters.

Shovel Knight has gotten underrated now in the sense that it goes under many people's radar today. If you wanna try some Indies, Shovel Knight is still an excellent pick.

Did a bit of research, ornate plate armor leaves a shiny trail that helps in the darkened areas, you land on your feet when launched by catapults, you get special dialogue from king knight, and you do tricks when jumping

Watching dan play shovel knight was a nostalgic thrill ride, this game is a true 10/10. One of the first indie games I’ve ever seen and still one of the best
With how greedy Dan was during the Shovel Knight campaign, I can’t imagine how powerful the voices (chat) will be during the King Knight campaign.
I kinda want to see Dan play a pure platformer now. He's still good at combat but platforming is hard in his old age.
He streamed the Celeste B sides only a couple months ago and actually did okay. He got washed up very quickly

Was going to say. I still remember the struggle this game was when I picked it up for the first time, and it took me over 3 play throughs to really get to grips with the controls and mechanics.
In Dan's case, the fact that he's played it before probably worked against him. He seems to thrive more when playing blind.
I would agree, but it is kinda funny seeing RT fail at things every once in a while. I don't want the funnyman's self esteem to be lowered at all, though.

Shovel Knight, despite arguably starting the Retro Indie Game revolution and being a love letter to the past, became a timeless classic through unique, quality artstyle, fun gameplay and polish beyond measure.

It's a shame Shovel Knight seems to go under the radar nowadays. It's still one of the best indies and among the first ones that pushed the indie market to being as popular as it is now.
I don’t think it goes under the radar, as much as it’s established itself as a classic experience that doesn’t need to prove itself or be disected anymore. Hell, it secured a spot as a well liked assist trophy in Smash Bros. Whenever people think of good classic indie games that began the renaissance, Shovel Knight is one of the first to mind.
It’s just one of those cases of something that was revolutionary for its time eventually amassing equals, and even those that surpass it. It doesn’t mean the revolutionary thing is bad or ignored, it just isn’t the only thing in its area anymore

It's fascinating how something so retro, so time-specific in its gameplay and aesthetics can, in fact, be a Timeless Masterpiece. Absolutely in love with this "franchise", hope you'll enjoy other campaigns!

I love it when Yacht Clhb Games said 'It's DLC time' and DLC'd all over shovel knight ( I hope he plays all of the other DLCS theyre so good)
As someone studying psychology this is interesting show off the labeling theory, in which if you label someone as being something and enough people agree on it, then that person will eventually adapt to fit that label. You can see at multiple points in the video where he makes new mistakes that he didn't make at the beginning of the game and he actually gives up at multiple points by accepting deaths he would have been able to get out of. Because chat labeled him as being bad at the game he accepted it and began to think himself that he was bad at the game and had no way of improving.
Feels weird seeing RTgame and his manic chat experiencing one of my favourite games of all time. Really good.
I remember playing this back in the day, and loving it.

I absolutely love this indie game. This and Cave Story. I’ve replayed both more than I can count. My favorite campaign from Shovel Knight is the Specter Knight one. Because the gameplay is a lot of fun and the story is really good.
Ever since watching the grumps play this I've adored this game. Can't wait to watch Dan's playthrough!

The shovel was for all the graves this poor knight had to dig for his 52 twins by the end of the game.
I was here and the best part was the way chat would calculate his average time between deaths and then say things like "your next is due in 30 seconds" and he'd always die exactly when prophesised

This is one of my absolute favourite platformers, this and Shantae: Half Genie Hero. This is a fantastic game with wonderful graphics, fun gameplay, and an amazing second campaign with Spector Knight. I haven’t beaten Plague Knight’s campaign and haven’t touched King Knight’s story yet either. It’s such a charming game, and I will always love it
Iirc Specter Knight’s campaign was actually the third one. I remember being in middle school waiting for it to release after finishing the first two campaigns
I'm starting to see the pattern, whenevr RT goes back to a game he used to love, God throws a coin to see if he keeps his capabilities as a gamer or just becomes a game journalist
