Oh wow! You have an Oreck vacuum cleaner Steve. I have the same one in my pad myself. I purchased mine from a yard sale a few years back and still runs like a champ. Nice to see you having the same model bro. 8^) Anthony..
45:50 I'm a clueless newbie and I'm thinking about attempting to clean the inside of my PVM on my own, and I'm wondering why you wanted to turn off the surge protector at this point. What would've happened if you didn't turn it off? What should I do to avoid anything bad happening?
That's a joke. GoPro is insisting that Cosco's warranty SUPERSEDES the GoPro warranty? Cosco is the purveyor, GoPro is the manufacturer. I doubt that's even legal. On top of that, regardless of their claims about the Cosco coverage, a written warranty was included WITH the product. There is no legal defense that dispenses with the fact that any reasonable person would infer that the written warranty in the box would assume that this document applies to the product with which it comes. And remember, yours was a special case because they supplied the damaging firmware. Everyone else is screwed....
Is there literally no way to pack these things to withstand the perils of shipping? These things were originally packed in Styrofoam, I presume. Is it not possible to get thick Styrofoam packed around the CRT tightly enough that it would take the brunt of any bumps, drop-kicks, and body slams? Or is that still just not enough of a guarantee?
I just thought of an idea for a video. Get some old buster CRT monitors and have a shipment packing shoot-out. See who can pack a CRT well enough to withstand a drop off of the back of a UPS truck, kicking with steel-toed boots, shooting with a shotgun, etc.
18:38 - The haunted PVM 14L5
It's insane that we are ok with tech that lasts for one year. I have CRT's that works great and they are almost 70 years old.
🎉🎉🎉 happy anniversary Steve
Coal right on cue!!!!

Haha. Yeah that was my grandma's vacuum. It works great to this day.
Cool episode, I didn't know about that lens on the yoke. Looking forward to see the tube get zapped!

This monitor was a pain to fix. The color issues. UPS needs to be taught a lesson. This PVM needs to be scrapped for parts of the issue doesn’t stay.

Please swap the tube out. This livestream was kind of a waste of time.
