I think the thing I love most about this version is how she's really utilizing that perfect pitch (or at least damn close) to go to really unusual and beautiful sounding notes that are very unusual for pop stuff. I'm hearing some amazing dissonant tones that only work because she's EXACTLY on pitch at the precise moment she's supposed to. I've sung harmonies in a few interesting bands and have a pretty good ear and tone control and this stuff is something I'd NEVER be able to do.....even just sitting here singing to myself. She just continues to expand on her talent and showcase her many skills.
Morissette is getting a lot of hate because as one wise woman said “Behind every successful person lies a pack of haters” to me I see it as if youre not getting hate then youre not doing something extraordinary, cuz ordinary gets ignored. So for Morissette Amon love your haters they’re your biggest fans cuz they want what they cant have that you have.
I always thought this acapella version is the best cover she’s ever done along with fly like a bird. As incredible as all her covers are, this version tops them all. I’ve seen this video at least a hundred times and every time it gets to the last belting part, tears start flowing. This is such a perfect song in so many ways. I was looking directly at your eyes during last part of the song and I can tell they’re getting moist. I can tell how authentic your reaction was and the disbelief how good this version was.
