      Nurses in outpatient or primary care settings usually make significantly less than RNs in the hospital. But it’s trade off for the lifestyle I guess.

    I want to get into aesthetic nursing. I’m a LPN in the RN program. Working with sick people is so stressful. I resigned from my job 3 months ago because it was too much. I wasn’t able to give my best to the patients because while I was with one patient, I was being called by another. It was back to back phone calls from family members, doctors, hospitals. I would hate being a nurse, but I know I actually love it. It was that work environment and work load that was stressing me out. I love watching these type of videos.

    • @PriscillaDesiree
      @PriscillaDesiree  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Denisse Guzman wow your story is all too familiar with not only myself but other nurses I’ve met in my nursing career. I definitely thought of it once or twice in nursing school but I don't know why I thought it would be impossible or the patients would be difficult to deal with. My dad even asked me multiple times in nursing school if I wanted to pursue plastics because of my interest in aesthetics, dermatology, and cosmetics. Then I did 3 years in the hospital in critical care and fast forward to now I actually made my way into plastics but not really intentionally 😂 God works mysteriously! I love it and it's where I feel the most happy!

    Girl, you are speaking my exact thoughts!!! Hospitals are brutal, great learning place and gives many people a good idea of where to go. It does give people awful anxiety and that horrible feeling of dread. I want to work in plastic surgery and do fillers soooooo bad! That was my goal prior to nursing school. Love the videos!!

  • @ellesappelle2659
    @ellesappelle2659 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just got my first plastic surgery job at a doctor's office. I wish I could relate to you when it comes to having a relaxing lunch break and time to pee. It's the opposite where I work. We don't get an assigned lunch break, and the doctor will interrupt me even if she sees me eating in the break room. She constantly has demands and I never have time to relax... plus, I am the only nurse in the office and am expected to do everything.. down to doing laundry, cleaning everything, ordering stuff, and more. I just wish we had a tech or janitor to take care of all those things because it's so overwhelming. And I don't have a preceptor. I reallly wanted to work in this field, and finally I got my foot in the door.. But didn't realize the job would be so tiring. I haven't worked this hard as a nurse in my life! Plus, we're required to work at least 43 hours a week, BUT it's always more because I stay an hour or so late almost every day. I get paid salary, so no overtime. I guess every place is different, though.
    I watched your other video of what you wish you knew before become a plastic surgical nurse.. and you did mention the cleaning and linens. It's all just so much, plus we have to iron all the scrubs.

    • @PriscillaDesiree
      @PriscillaDesiree  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      wow I just read this. Umm that sounds like waaaay too much. You got your foot in the door in this field, you have some experience now, maybe think about looking somewhere else (that's what I would do at least!). There's no reason why you should be doing alllll those things and being stretched like that. I mean I definitely had my fair share of rushed lunch breaks, not being able to go to the bathroom or pump exactly when I needed to, process instruments after long cases into the evening, being stretched extremely thin, among a number of other things. But that all started happening more towards the end of me working there when there was a huge staffing shortage and everyone was just surviving and not thriving. I made the decision to leave so I could spend more time with my family and focus on a healthy pregnancy. I found my big "WHY" and stuck to it. Made a bold choice to leave and I don't regret it, in fact, I'm grateful! It's a beautiful and fun field of medicine and I will forever be a nurse. Maybe one day I'll go back to nursing (maybe even plastics again, who knows!) but I learned a lot from my time there (much like I learned a lot from the hospital setting) and learned to value myself as a nurse, as an employee, and as a human. I hope you find a place where you feel happy and more valued! I'm rooting for you!!! :)

    • @ellesappelle2659
      @ellesappelle2659 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PriscillaDesiree thank you for your input.. didn't realize that you've left the plastic surgery field since you made this video. Becoming an aesthetic nurse was my dream, but now Idk what is going to happen. I've tried to stick with this job, so that I could learn and also become more marketable in the future. I've done everything I could to try to please this demanding plastic surgeon, but she just told me that it's not working out and that she was going to start interviewing others. I She said that I could either continue working until then, or leave. I agreed to stay, and said that I would try to change her mind. I really wanted this for my career (and also because I'm super vain and wanted the insider knowledge & perks lol) but this is harder than I could've imagined. Idk if it's the aesthetic field, or the city I'm in (Manhattan), or prob both. I'm just a girl trying to make it. Hope you are doing well, too. Tbh if I was in your situation, I may not mind taking a break from nursing too lol.

    I totally get you.. the 2 yrs of hospital experience that I've had have been rewarding, however, I believe I am ready to leave bedside I want a more balanced life and I totally feel the stress even in those senior nurses which is an eye opener of this type of industry.. Thank God there's a lot more we can do as nurses 🙏

    Hi Priscilla!☺️ I was watching videos of day in the life of a nurse and I watched your other video where you worked at the hospital. I then started watching other videos of different youtubers and I came across you unexpectedly, AGAIN🙊. I was confused because you looked familiar, and u were working at a hospital first then at a surgery office...anyways the reason I am being so detailed is because, I feel as if God wanted me to fall into you again... the first video I watched of you at the hospital I started crying because of how indecisive I am in life rn. I want to be a nurse but I always wanted to be a surgical tech since the day I graduated since the cosmetic field is what i liked, but I had a rough path after graduation and until now me being 21, I want to pursue my dream ): I cried because I overthink “what if” so it stops me from striving my dreams... I then unexpectedly fall into your second video of working in surgery and I’m like what?? A nurse in the cosmetic field?!?? Where I can be a nurse and work in the field I like without working with hurt patients. That’s my dream! That doesn’t mean i wouldn’t be able to handle the sacrifices and strong battles at a actual hospital. God has everything planned u know. I once again started to cry because I just felt it in my throat and had to let it out😔. God really sent me to you to realize anything is possible in reaching your dreams and it just feels good crying of happiness😣😭. It doesn’t matter where I fall but to do what I love and help people! Hurt or not hurt physically/mentally.... I thank God so much how he really manifests in my life and he is just wonderful!! I’ll be doing my research and pursue where God takes me in life 💕 thank you for coming across you Priscilla

      Aw you're so sweet, thank you! I normally get out on most days between 5 or 6 pm. But since we do surgery, sometimes it's hard to predict if a case is going to take longer than expected and I'm also the recovery room nurse so it depends how long it takes for the patient to wake up and also if they're not stable for discharge, then that takes more time. So there have been a few late nights till 8 or 9 but it doesn't happen all the time.

    • @PriscillaDesiree
      @PriscillaDesiree  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I feel your pain! I searched through the Indeed app multiple times for a few years and I just found med tele, PCU, nursing home, and case worker jobs. Which didn't interest me. Then in the middle of my biggest time of frustration, I got on Indeed again, typed something like Registered Nurse, "surgery", "outpatient surgery", and then a few things came up but honestly, I had been praying for a change for a while and I feel like God was like "ok now it's time for your blessing" Boom... I found a job, applied, the next day they asked me to schedule an interview, I went and got hired that same day. What I will recommend too is seeing what's in your city or area in terms of practices or doctor's offices you know or have heard good things from. Go to them and talk to someone there and see if they're hiring. Go on their website or social media if they have any and research. Sometimes going in person is where it's at. Bring a couple resumes with you. But don't give up!!

    Love your videos! I’m a nurse too. Did 12 hour night shifts for 2 years in acute care and I want exactly what you’re doing now. Plastic surgery day shift office nursing sounds amazing but it’s so hard to find a place around me In Massachusetts that isn’t in the city. Do you travel far to work?

      Thank you so much! On most days I travel about 40 minutes, which by now I'm pretty used to. It's so worth it though

    I am fully aware that bedside is not for me. I adore the clinic and doctors office type setting and I am sure that’s where my behind belongs lol! But... I am a new nurse and I’m assured that experience in an acute care setting is necessary if I want to gain a lot more experience and have a lot more options later in the future.

    This is definitely where I would love to end up at! Are LVN/LPN allowed to work at offices like this or med spas? Curious! I know we wouldn't be allowed to use the machines or do anything invasive unless state allowed/heavy training. Just curious!

    Im currently working as an RN on a med-surg floor in the hospital and i'm looking to switch specialties. I've always been interested in aesthetics, but I'd like to know how to make myself more marketable when i start my job search. Ive been thinking about getting certified to do botox and fillers but you mentioned in the video that the PA does those at your practice, so I'm wondering if it's worth spending the time and money.

    Question, I'm currently in nursing school and I'll be done in a year and this is the field I want to go into. What are the chances of a new grad getting into this type of field? Do I HAVE to have prior experience as a nurse?

      I don’t think she dyes it. That looks like her natural hair color, which is very similar to mine. It’s between deep/medium and ash brown. I’d get it done professionally. This is by far the most difficult hair color to achieve through dyeing.

      @hello is it me youre looking for hey! They are advanced practice nurses with a masters or doctorate degree (after going to nursing school) that have more responsibilities when treating patients. They can prescribe medicine, diagnose patients, and become more similar to doctors. They basically do the same thing as physician assistants.
