Especially seen as in the comics and stuff it reveals that a) he doesn't like killing people. b)He doesnt really relish in being "The Reaper" and prefers just being a captain/soldier. c) They've made his design look more like a super-soldier's uniform instead of a Grim Reaper cosplay
It could be self convincing if he convices himself he is harmful to everyone it validates his idea to protect his dear ones by keeping distance from them, since even when he thinks "the end justifies the means" he still feels guilty about it

I think the problem with Reaper (Widow has a similar problem) is that their design makes them look a bit silly, but they're kinda stuck with them now. I'm guessing they were made before the lore was fully fleshed out, but even compared to later Talon characters (Moira, Doomfist, Baptiste, Sombra and Sigma) their designs are literal Supervillain tier. Widow they improved a lot with her redesign but at this point being an edgy skull man is so built into Reaper's design that they can't really edit that, so it ends up conflicting with his very tragic and built up backstory IMO
@@dylanisntsimping see, his physical design isn't what really bugs me. His suit is Talon design so it makes sense that he looks villainous, and his OW2 redesign does fix most of my problems with it. It looks more like a super-soldier suit rather than an edgy cloak and mask. The skull mask looks like Blackwatch's old Logo, which seems to be what it's based on in canon.

You feel horrible for him even if he's done horrible things

The humanoid omnics, like zenyatta and maximillian are sentient for sure, but I wasn’t sure if the Kishin (probably butchered spelling), which are the omnics d.va are fighting, are sentient or not. I watched the shooting star short, and also looked up to read on the lore, and from what I got they don’t seem to be sentient in the same way that humanoid omnics are. But then again, bastion is also sentient, probably because he isn’t following his original programming, which (if I remember correctly) is to assault Eichenwald. The kishin are probably similar, and while following their programming, don’t really feel anything or have any sentience or free will. Does this make streaming fights against them right? I don’t know, there is definitely no objective answer to that question.
