I received 3 separate fines through the post from one weekend in Bristol, simply driving through a street I used to live on. I have no idea what a clean air zone was. I have a 2010 Peugeot 308. How can they get away with slapping a £360 fine onto someone like that, it feels like a form of punishment given out to those who cannot afford a new car. It's also pretty low IQ stuff, they've literally created a constant line traffic around the outside of the city full of people avoiding the zone. They're also wasting a tonne of paper with all the letters they've been sending me over the past 4 months, not very environmental. As long as the WEF members travel in private jets, I will continue to drive my 308 around Bristol.

The whole point being that you will think it is some sort of scam, which of course it is, you ignore it, subsequently the case gets heard by a kangaroo court which finds in the council’s favour and next thing you know they’ve sold the debt to a third party and the heavies turn up on your door.

No heavies ie bailiffs in N Ireland so any of these go into the bin. I am not obliged to do something i dont desire to do. Ie grace such unlawful fraud
The heavies are very easy to deal with - you have absolutely no contract with them so you can use contract law in your favour. Find their company number and remind them they are a for-profit corporation which means they have to abide by contract law. Ask them for proof they have a written contract with you, signed by both parties. NOBODY can be forced into a contract, that is criminal coercion. In fact, they are breaking so many laws it should be us taking them to court! They're only allowed to visit your house 3 times - but I ask to see their ID then I have a pre-written letter, I put their name on the letter and give it to them, they have now been put on notice of all the laws they are breaking, and if they chose to continue they will be held reliable in their personal capacity because their indemnity insurance will be null and void! All costs will come from their pocket. I never hear from them again
@Alfredslaw when Cardiff city council sent a heavy to my house because I foolishly ignored a parking fine that went from something like £30 up to £600 by the time they showed up, anyway they simply clamped my 2004 car and said you got about an hour to pay the whole fine if you don't you will have to pay the £600 plus a lot more to get your car back, luckily someone lent me the £600 to pay them and instantly they were gone. I tried to explain to Cardiff council my car had broken down, because it genuinely did that's why I was parked in one of their normal streets were they outlawed parking, they said they would check cctv cameras and make a decision, they never contacted me again and acted like they have no record of what happened to me even MP's I asked for help were not interested in helping me. The problem is they've got so many private companies running what used to be public services now, they've given them a free hand to charge or fine you what they like.

I had a bayliff letter demanding 499 for a fine from Birmingham.two weeks ago. I had no correspondence from Birmingham City Council. Found out it was for a clean air zone. Never knew about it. I got a warning letter from Hammersmith and Fulham council for driving through a clean air zone. The problem being I drove down that road 12 times after the date on the letter. I had a look and the tiny signs are there right enough. I guess I'll get 12 fines now. They should write the warning on the road in massive letters, like they do for the congestion zone.

If it is not the correct name on the letter then you should not have opened it . You should have returned the letter unopened, stating " This person not at this address ".
If they threaten court, they never go to a real magistrate in a real court but use a council employee to rubber stamp documents. Tell them you want a hearing in court.

You do not have "goods" you have personal belongings, you are not a business. If bailiffs turn up do not allow them into your property and request their warrant or certificate which should have a judges name and wet signature. If this is not provided then they are not operating under law. Outside that, ignore them.

That decleration ln that letter prooves that theirs power in the signature. One question to ask is why do they require a singature from yourself yet theres no signature from the other party, they have condradicted themselves

Small hack for you all that have non compliant vehicles, change the registered keeper to the PM or one of your local MPs they will then get all the letters and fines for you driving round the clean air zone and you’ll get nothing. It will take them a long time to find your car but just keep some fake plates on it when you park it up and no one will ever find you

it sounds like you ignored some previous correspondence or demands. Deal with this head on as once you are in dispute with an organisation, no action can be taken until the dispute is cleared. If you want to validate whether this went to a real court, call the magistrates where you believe the case was heard and request a copy of the manifest of record of entry. This should have the case number and your name (as a case heard in your name) then at least you will know whether the court actually heard a case in your name, or as the councils do for council tax put hundreds of names in the pot.(unlawful by the way)
Hi there I’m in a similar situation right now, same as yours didnt update details with dvla, my vehicle was cloned. 12months later I was forwarded letters of pcns and bailiffs / TEC notices etc. I have contacted police/ dvla etc. and informed the council. But they keep referring back to me not replying in the. Perfect timescales. They will not review my photographic evidence of the vehicles being different. Any advice.
Birmingham city council now send a statement they require you to fill in from Nottinghamshire county court who deal a lot with motoring fines combined with Birmingham city council PCN, I'm not a expert so I don't know what would happen if you failed to fill in the Nottinghamshire county court statement and send it to them, but Birmingham city council is definitely trying to scare people into paying their clean air Zone fines, it's all cruel and wrong.
I got a £180 fine from Birmingham after taking my son to Cadbury World and spending a night in Birmingham and spending money in their city. Next time. Go back the council will have to pay more to fix some vandalism 😂

Look on the first page of the document. There are two yellow boxes squares. The bottom one ‘What are my options’ says PAY £69 within 14 days ( there is a typo there £69 not £60) and the same with the next line Pay £129 not £120. This is typical of these robbing bastards, they couldn’t even proof read the fucking document before printing them off. I won’t be paying until all this is sorted which means them sending the whole lot out again after they are re printed correctly

Filling in anything they provide fundamentally ties you to their legal scam. Where no contract exists, and with council/local authority pcn's are concerned these NEVER exist so not paying it will NOT affect your credit rating. Private parking charges are a different matter but just as easy to kill, but council/local authorities have absolutely NO legal authority to pursue these charges. Most people will merely pay out of fear & lack of knowledge such as you're showing on here.

By their own admission they say u less its signed it cant be valid. So it has to work for them also. It works both ways

My only concern is if the bailiffs clamp my vehicle or try and tow it. This is when it gets messy
