Michael Franzese Interview (second) : Icons of Faith Series

  • Pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie sits down with former mafia crime family member Michael Franzese. In his past life, Michael was one of the richest and most powerful mobsters of his day, earning tens of millions of dollars from various criminal enterprises, but this is not the most incredible thing about Michael Franzese. By God’s grace, the impossible happened in Michael’s life: he quit the mob and lived. Christ transformed him from hardened criminal to follower of Christ. This is an amazing and encouraging story giving hope that no one is beyond Christ and His transformative power.

I was in Prison with Mike in 93' when he was at FCI Lompoc on a violation. Played on his softball team, had many dinners with him, and lemme tell ya he is a truly reformed man. He was telling me about Jesus back then.. Im glad to see he is still doing what he wanted back then.. Share his Testimony..

The interviewer was incredible in that he did his research and likely spoke to Michael beforehand. He knew his criminal life and was able to help Michael explain his transition from criminal life to his surrender to Jesus and walk the path of a true Christian.

    • @__aaron___

He never testified against anyone from his former life. I believe, when Sonny ordered the contract on Mike's head, it was at the time he was incarcerated or was up for court. That contract never got fulfilled because he never testified. He took his licks. A man's man. A Man of Honor. I think if they had released him or given the Colombos ANY reason to think he flipped, that contract would've been carried out. Look at Gotti Jr. He got out. Once you get to a certain federal radar, the Family will "put you on the shelf" or as we would call it, retirement. They won't risk more indictments just because you got too hot.
Just my opinion from all I've gathered over the years. Mike is my top favorite old school mobsters. Ambitious, climbed the ladder fast, younget mob boss in mob history, if I remember correctly. I believe he was placed one under Al Capone on wealthiest mobsters at the young age of 36. That's impressive.
But his testimony is waaay more impressive.
