Great videos Earl. Just starting to get back into the hobby after a decade. Currently converting my old savage xl 5.9 into electric. Great seeing electric getting close to 1/5th scale. Got me wanting to grab xmaxx or XRT. I know this video is 3 months old but would love to give u project for XRT. Double the resist on shocks so chassis doesn’t touch ground on the up ramp and change tires to softer quality (better air control). Then compare x max wide vs XRT. I really like to see the stability on high speed turns in that setup between these too.
Going by nothing other than the way both RC got down in this video I would go with XMaxx. That said I can't drop 1G on a new RC so I picked up a Kraton 8S EXB roller. It's my first 1/5 scale electric & It's HUGE! I'm sure I'll have all Of 1000$ or more I to it by the time I'm done but with the roller I get to stretch out the hit on my wallet. Great video. XRT for sure ain’t a bad rc but right out of the box it’s not as good as the xmaxx I think. You unbox the xmaxx and run it and have tons of fun. The XRT right out of the box needs upgrades for the same running pleasure. My wide xmaxx I’ve just changed spur and pinion and you’re good to go
I agree, I bought the XRT because I’m not a Kevin Talbot style basher, the XRT made more sense for me given that my decision was between buying an XMAXX with the wide kit or the XRT that already had the wide kit on it, I will probably still get an XMAXX in the future, but for now, given that I travel with my cars, I’m happy with the XRT.
the more i see the Xmaxx Ripping the more im sorta leaning toward it mores so and the wide kit is definitely the way to go also the speed and agility your getting on the XmaXX is awesome love the great continual comparisons and advice along the way its a lot to take in but worth it being educated from all angles with video backing it all up so great full for these Videos that you do Earl Fun and Learning is the way to go 🙂
Awesome comparison video. I do not own both the XMaxx or XRT, but looking at the action of both cars, I like the action of the XMaxx better. The XRT feels like it’s too flat and doesn’t look like a vehicle anymore. It’s more of a buggy.
I dont own either Earl but watching your videos makes me want an Xmaxx more then the Xrt just because it doesnt chassis slap like other rc's do. I love the way the xmaxx performs and how much clearance it has.

Ive seen many a xmaxx do it's hop and makes me ponder everytime.. like there must! Be a way to mitigate at least most of it with the right preload vs oil combination.. I've always been a tuning junky and this feature of them makes me wanna run out there and tackle one and run cackling into the night to my lab lol ...truggys will always be my fav but seeing how the xmaxx plays I think you swaying me here in this comparison. I have the XRT Orange all stock for now 😱 going to get the red body from Traxxas for 109.00, upgrade the servo to the Traxxas 2085x for $95.00, add the X-Maxx Traxxas light kit for $100 and get the Jetko 1/5 Belted low profile Tomahawk tires with red rims for 105.00 a pair. Then keep the stock 20/50 gearing🤔 and call it a day. I'm a light in the azz basher (grass, pavement and hardly any jumps) just keeping it fun w/o trashing a rig that’s over $1k with add-ons! Great channel learned a lot here. 👍 Also looking at a (Trim To Fit) Chassis Warp from darksidestudioarts. 🤔 😊

Different conditions buddy. Have the og xmaxx with a leopard hobby 58110. Nn I just ordered a xrt which will will get the new leopard 58113. Then I will have both for different spots or tracks. And they both share the same parts that will break on a bash or hard race
What makes me mad about this hole xrt drop is that everyone shit on the x maxx for so long now that a lower center gravity x maxx comes out everyone all of a sudden thinks the thing is a bullet proof truck it’s like come on guys wake up lol sold my x maxx a while back loved the truck just wanted a more planted kraton
Oh yeah people don’t realize that in stock form is how the company makes the cars if u compare half of these stock cars to the x maxx it’s just night and day sure u can have a bullet proof arrma like I do have but it’s gonna cost you another car to do it m2c everything
I don't own either truck yet. But from the outside looking in I think I would be more inclined to pick up an XMaxx. They both look like great trucks in their own way though. Great side by side run though. 👍💯😉
I was set on the XRT, but now I'm even more torn. I run in wide open grass spaces for my dogs to chase (no real bashing or 'sending'), but I do need some maneuverability to avoid them catching me. I currently use a typhon 6s or Erevo with stock tires for the dogs to chase but traction roll overs too much in grass. The wide kit on the XMaxx would be a must for me, but as you said, that's another $200....
Brother if u change the tires I personally use the stock Xmaxx tires it really help soak up the jumps in a big was huge difference and if hooks up fantastic
Great vid , I definitely think the max 6 and stock motor in the Xmaxx is a much better combo then the combo in the XRT when it comes to bashing and general ripping
20/50 wow that sounds crazy any chance you can make a video explaining what’s your experience with different drive gear setups, it’s very difficult to find this information, I haven’t found one good RC video on this, I just got into RC I have a Sledge and just got a XRT ultimate too, it’s a bit slow compared to my Sledge so I ordered max 5 hobbywing with 1100kv, now trying to figure out what drive gears to get that will give me similar or but faster gears, and be able to fit the vidavon 30t large cover also what’s your thoughts on gear covers, I mainly drive on gravel and sand I I was thinking it’s best to cover it, but I am then limited to 30t Love your channel any advice would be great thanks 🍻🍻🍻
Great vid💯 I'm lucky enough to have both as you do....I'm a big fan of both you can't go wrong with either one....the only reason I would choose XMAXX is because of the hight.....other than that both a ton of fun💯

Good comparison video Earl, thank you. For me and what I enjoy it’s the Xmaxx all day and twice on Sunday. Traxxas missed their opportunity to really innovate and come up with something special. How about this idea and you heard it hear first so if one of these Companies engineers it I want a piece of the pie$$$:) What Traxxas could of done is designed the XRT to have the low center of gravity, but then have the ability to transform into an Xmaxx by making just a few adjustments. They just double down on the engineering and who cares if now they only have one truck instead of two. I think that would sell like crazy if it’s engineered correctly. I’d personally buy one for my wife, my son, snd myself. My daughters will be ok…lol
First you have the motor Wires overtop the fan on your ESC would you put a Bunch of wires over top of your AC that's outside?? 2 200A motor & a 160A ESC that's 40A that the motor needs to 🏃♀️ to its maximum output 3 You already know you're gearing's too high
I like both a think they both have there place for running/bashing I enjoy running both but I don’t have the wide kit on my xmaxx was on the fence if getting it what do you think
Bellcrank & bulkhead I’ve broken both and doesn’t seem to stop the xmaxx as I’ve been showing the damages that where never noticed in the current tear down of my 5 year old xmaxx rebuild 🤔

Use a small zip tie at the battery connection,it will take care of the disconnection problem.

i have both as well and for the handleing they are very similar but drive different in my opinion but i love them both!!
