Yeah I miss it, they still have one by fenton , mi. I think they have the same recipe for the Coney sause. Much cleaner place, angelos was kinda old and dirty place .
I came frome Flint now I live in Italy, Left in 1970 for the Military, I have eaten at all the restaurants you see here. Having a Coney is top on my list everytime I return. This video makes me homesick for Flint. If you ever get a chance try a couple, "Heavy All" that's extra on the toppings and do get the onions
Flint has *THE* best coney. I will die on this hill with Flint coney n a vernors in hand. I miss Angelo's. Tellys has an amazing coney if you ever head out there
Every region has their own way , but this one looks really good . The dry chilli is very different. I am originally from North Jersey where we deep fry hot dogs . I now live in Florida and I can get the dogs I want and I grill them which is easier . I don’t like standard rolls so I use hollowed out French baguette for the hard crust . A great dog needs a great wrap to show proper respect!
If you're ever at Universal Studios City Walk there is a restaurant there called Hot Dog Hall of Fame. They have a coney listed as a Detroit Coney but it uses Abbotts meat sauce and Koegel's Viennas. Both are from Flint, MI.
I live in Virginia and have tried every other hotdog including Hebrews, Nathan’s, Ball Park, Oscar Meyer and everything else but none of them compare to Koegels. Before Covid I managed to catch Koegel’s on the road when they came to Virginia Beach. It was more expensive but I got a real nice red tote bag with my order and the people were very friendly. Also, I’ve been using a copycat recipe for Angelo’s coney sauce that I found online. It’s pretty good and I’ve been tweaking it over the years but still not as good as the original Angelo’s. I’ve heard that the good service and quality is gone at Angelo’s now not sure if that’s true since I haven’t been there lately. I’ve been going to Gilley’s near Mt Morris. They’ve got real good coney sauce.
Angelo's isnt it anymore. Tellys has the best coney in michigan. It hits for whatever you want. They have Flint and Detroit coneys. ALWAYS get Flint style without onions. Its perfection. Everytime I go back home I pick up a pack of Viennas from landmark
angelo's has been closed for years now 😭😭😭😭 miss it so much. capital across the street just got demolished. 😢 koegels or nothing else. flint coney sauce has beef heart in it which gives it its unique flavor compared to regular coney sauce.
There is a store in Mesa, AZ that sells Koegols products. I agree a Detroit Coney is a wetter more chili like topping but I have never had one with beans. Lafayette or American in downtown Detroit would not do that.
I love Michigan so much. We have the best food, all day.
Love Flint Coneys - miss the way Angelos was before the end times... Thanks for the memories!
Good job. Flint coneys are the best! R.I.P. Angelos
Thank you! It was fun to make. Angelos is gone?! bummer
Yeah I miss it, they still have one by fenton , mi. I think they have the same recipe for the Coney sause. Much cleaner place, angelos was kinda old and dirty place .
Come to Jackson for a very similar dog! Dry sauce is our thing too

Angelo's went out of business years ago!
Starlight coney island restaurant with of course kogels
Love your story❤
Flint Coneys are like no other!
Angelos makes the best but I am in Florida now! I miss my coney dogs and koegels hotdogs!!
I’ve never had a Flint Coney Dog. Didn’t even know it was a thing there. Looks delicious, I hope I get to try one in Flint one day.
Jackson has a super similar coney. Thinner onion
Angelo’s isn’t open anymore, but you can still get a great coney at Starlight. You need to have a Flint coney on your bucket list.
The dog is probably the most important part of the coney!

Well done.
I work next to the plant in flint and I always enjoy the smell of smoked meat
Come to Jackson and try ours! Very similar
Uh... Detroit Coneys DO NOT have beans in the sauce!!!!
