  • This videos covers some of the problems I ran into replacing the complete rear suspension and wheel bearings on a 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 otherwise known as the 2006 Land Rover LR3. I also upgraded to the V8 brakes and ran into a problem with the dealer supplied rear caliper mounts. I did this in December 2018 and finally getting around to uploading it (December 2021)...
I don't cover every last install detail, you can download the factory shop manual and follow that, that's what I did. This is more of a video about some of the problems you might encounter with a rustbelt car, or be thankful you don't live in the rustbelt. You should have a scan tool that will allow you to put the parking brake into service mode.

You will have a much easier time without the rust. Bleeding the brakes wasn't too bad, I've done it a few times now. This spring I had to replace the brake lines (rust). There's nothing tricky required, just bleed the normal way.

I think I spent around $3k in parts on it. It's now 3.5 years later. I did fix a few other things this past year, nothing expensive, another $700 in parts. If used cars hadn't increase in price so much lately I probably would have been looking to replace it this year. But I'll keep it going now. The other thing is what do I replace it with? A newer LR4 can have the same problems, most other SUVs have no where near the interior space.

A video that has nothing to do with cutting stone... more work on the Land Rover LR3. This isn't a how to (maybe a how not to?) video, more of a watch me muddle my way through it. For reassembly I followed the factory shop manual, which you can find online pretty easy. I note where I ran into problems in the video, mostly related to rust and the parking brake cables.
