My #1 most played song on Spotify this year, resoundingly. This song, from a songwriting standpoint, to its melody, lyrics, and concept…the tones of the drums, bass, guitar…and Dustin’s vocals- truly is imo, perfection- from start to finish. This song resonates with me in the most special way. It kills me every time dude, in the best way.
I was sick and contagious when they came thru DC, so I couldn’t see them live this time- but I guarantee the people who saw these heroes live had the time of their life, for sure. Beach Fossils are pure magic.
10/10. Thanks to SiriXM for having them on; I just woke up and am starting my day- saw this and was super, super stoked. My day has already been blessed up, and that is priceless. Music is medicine, and Beach Fossils are such an inspiration, to me, and even my students as young as 10 years old…5th graders who are literally inspired by this music, and now have- not exaggerating- written 18 riffs/song ideas. And when I play drums with a 5th grader and I’m like…”What the actually hell…this is ridiculous man,"
because they've become a musician- and it's because of their hard work and receptivity- and the chord voicing I learned studying jazz in college, like the lineage in jazz and how the knowledge is passed down via great teachers like I had, I'm trying to do the same thing.
I am 36 and been writing, playing, and recording for 2/3 of my life now. Because of bands like Beach Fossils, whom I admire and inspire me to keep going- when I play this song and other straight up bangers, they love it. The musical torch is being passed to the next generation, and honestly, that is the most important thing to me now, in my life. I'll wrap up this appreciation post by just saying,
thanks. You'll never know how much your music means to people- and who it touches, and how it shapes young minds and values. That is true greatness. ❤
