Interesting walk Chris , just a pity the old house on the hill was boarded up. Can’t beat an old church yard to ratch about in. It’s ironic that we enjoy a good churchyard walk when one day we will be in there 😂😂 hope you enjoyed the well earned 🍺👍

Fabulous! Thanks very much indeed. I've always been intrigued by that ruined house too. What a shame it's been mainly blocked up . But, it has been built so brilliantly well that I bet it can still keep out the wind and rain and snow, once it's been given some rescue treatment. Just as long as it's not spoilt! I totally believe in keeping the character of these wonderful Yorkshire buildings. Thanks so much for this. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will look out for others you've done.👋👋
Thank you for watching and commenting. I am really drawn to these old moor-edge ruins in the Pennines and especially in Calderdale, which seems to specialise in them. They kind of get me a bit wistful too, thinking of the past inhabitants and all their lives and stories.
Chris, the tale of the coin clipper whet my appetite, so I had a little Google. Fascinating history which included Isaac Newton. He introduced the ridges around the edges of coins in an attempt to prevent clipping. I'd love to have seen your reaction if Tommy Lee Royce had appeared at the window when you were peering in.😂 Tremendous video Chris, cheers, Paul

Great video! I find all of those old buildings and churchyards to be interesting; where I live no structure is more than 100 years old at most. Culture question - can a woman go into a pub like that now, in a small village, and have a pint on her own? or is that strange for England even now?
Hello Karen. Nowadays, thankfully, women do do that. Though I do remember the days when that would've been seen as strange. I remember too that seeing a woman drink a pint (rather than a half) was seen as unusual too! When I was a young chap, drinking with my grandad, there was a woman who came into the local pub who supped pints and he always used to comment on it!

Well spotted Ken. You could be on to something there. 👍
@@ChrisJB I actually thought that was the grave you was gonna look at.
Just catching up with a backlog of videos - really should cut down on my subscribing. Not yours though, really interesting nuggets of history. Wondered why we had ridges around the coins - now I know. Thanks for that. ATB, Roger
Ha ha! I know what you mean re subbing to loads Roger. Thank you.....it's a fascinating area.
Excellent video
More of the same please
Many thanks Andy. ATB, Chris
