I had heard such a story in my family too. My paternal aunt (bua) has an elder sister in law (nanad) who had a son born after 2 daughters. He died somehow. I forgot the reason. The mother fell ill and she used to ask for his comeback and did not believe that he has passed away. After a few years, she gave birth to a son again. As the child grew, he used to call the names of his maternal uncles (mamaji) which only the previous dead one used to call them with. He also started pointing out at the photos of 12-13 year old dead boy when he was marely 3-4 year old, and said that it is his own photo. He remembered everything as if he was that boy and lived as he never died. Also, he has same face and body as his dead older brother. He is now a married man. The family had also accepted it in very initial revelations that the died child came back to them and they stopped putting garland on his previous life photo.
Ps- The mother had dreamt of her died son informing his arrival to her when she was unaware of her being pregnant.

This is a true story. Shanti Devi was born in old Delhi where I also lived in my childhood. She lived close to where our house was and we often met her in the narrow lanes of old Delhi but never spoke with her as she was much older than us. To the best of my memory, as my mother told us, she never married in her present life.

Same thing happened to my mother.
She tells me the story that when she was 3-4 years old, she insulted her parents that's it was not her house, it's so small and there were no expensive things like telephone or television. Later she told about her last life, where she was the wife of a rich man and had 2 children. But later on the maid who worked in the house, killed her using a pillow and then hanged her body through the ceiling fan.
My mom told her husband's name, her 2 children's name(a boy and a girl) and the maid who killed her and the maid's two sons name. And she even told the adress.
That place was nearly within 200kms(approximate).
As usual mom's family got curious , so his brother(my maternal uncle), went to check to the place. Then asking the localites, he got to know about that house. He saw it was a big palace, with nearly everything a rich family had at that time. Later he asked about the owner, so the old people said nearly 40 years ago, the owner and his 2 children left the town and went to Delhi after his wife suicided. Later he got to know about the maid's name and her son's name,it matched too. Obviously the husband's name and children's name matched too.
And surprisingly, the maid was still alive then. People said her two sons were killed in an accident and she was paralysed.
This is the Re-incarnation story of my mom.

I remember my dad telling a story such as same about his neighbor back in Gwalior(MP). He had two twin daughters of around 5-6 years of age. one of the twin girl was normal, cheery like any other child playing with the toys while the other twin girl would always cry. One day my dad asked why she"s always crying and the neighbor told that it had been months that she kept on telling us her past life story and begged us to take her to her real home and once he decided t check and sat her in front of his bike and the little girl lead the accurate way. there was a small village and an even small hut like home. There was some noise coming out from that home. He immediately took a U turn and went back home. Some years later my dad learnt that as the girl spent her life in present, she luckily forgot her past life memories and now is normally living as any other girl.

Yes after hearing the rebirth story of shanthi devi was a shock.A similar story of a rebirth I have heard from my dad as of a small girl from Punjab .Do share the viewers such incidents as this may make scholars study on this and in future bring out the factual facts in it.

my daughter is surely a reincarnation of my grandmother. when she hardly spoke a couple of words she could name my grandmothers grown up children whom my daughter had never met nor seen as they live in different country. she could hardly say dad at that age but she could say the names of her past life children without problem. she also called one of my grandmothers daughters by a name that only my grandmother used to call her with.there are many such incidents to prove my daughter is my grandmothers reincarnation cant list them all here.. but as she turned 6 and up she gradually stopped asking about her past life children.

Even my father used to remember his past life when he was kid. In past life, he was from the village nearby our village. My tau g told me that my father didn't have any breathe when he was born. Everybody thought that the baby was dead bcoz it remained same for hours, then suddenly he started breathing when news of someone's death came from nearby village. Not only this, he used to call all the elders in his village by their names and the shocking part was that that they never told him their names. Plus, the irony is the person who he was in his previous life was the man whom my great grandfather used to hate, but my father was one of his most loved ones. When he started going to school, he used to run away and go to his old house. My bua g used to scold him. But after sometime, he told everything about what happened in his past life and everyone was shocked bcoz he was also almost 5. Then, he started occassionally visiting his old house. His bhabhi from previous birth was still alive and my father tells me that she used to make laddoo for him. His kids are well settled now. And, he had a mandir and also hid some money somewhere that only he knew. He was murdered in his previous life at the same mandir! That's why, many people in my village still call him Pujari😅

Reincarnation is there even today..a couple of years back I met a small kid aging 4-5 years in my hometown who can speak only in English language with American accent..both parents are locals they don't speak English at home but how this kid do so is a big question mark.. Although he did mentioned some names at times which the family wasn't aware of but he hasn't tell anything about his past life.. He is well familiar with Cars and even though his father drive only a two Wheeler this kid can easily name some cars that are not available here.. I bought him a JCB toy and he described all the parts which left me speechless... So I'm sure this is a case of reincarnation..

I am very happy to heard this and many other reincarnation stories that exist because this also indirectly proves the existence of Ātmā. This is because there is no other way for a 'physical body' to retain it's memory. But the thing is that in Shrimadbhagavat Gitā Shree Krishna says that he knows all past lives of any person, but a particular person cannot remember the incidents of his/her past life! This is where when said to Arjuna that I have told Gītā to Surya, and Arjuna argues with confusion that 'how can you tell Surya, you were not born at time", then Krsna explaines him. But one thing here is that if 'no' person can retain his/her memory of the past life then how there are some cases to retaintion of memory. This might be the case that these Ātmā are some special.
Some loopholes I guess. Maybe they can remember past life only during the initial years of birth. Slowly it fades away.

No. each one of us has memory of all our passed lives (countless of them - including of all the yonis/species we've gone through) stored in our causal body. If you can sit in meditation like a rock for 4 hours and 36 minutes, you can learn the yogic kriya to access any number of your passed lives. Patanjali says in yoga sutras 3.18:
"making samyama on previous thought-waves, one obtains knowledge of one's past lives."
