Hey big Dave. I’ve been told a more wet egg is more effective with more milking in the water vs a drier egg using the burrito paper towel method. Have you noticed a difference between the two versions? Also, have you ever used any scent before fishing them after they are cured?
Once your done do you let him sit and cure in the fridge or can you leave them out on the counter ? Awesome video!! Ps do you ever put sea salt in your eggs
Would love to eat frozen fish roe (flying/tobiko/masago capelin/salmon).. but isn't there a risk of parasites that survive the typical freezer temps (0F)? Do you know of any way to test to make sure it's safe?
When you butterfly the skeins with a knife use a butter knife. The tiny serrations cut the membrane perfect without popping any of the eggs. Also pretty crazy you leave them wrapped in paper towels...they always say to let em juice out and give em time to re-absorb the juice...but the paper towel will just soak it up. They look really good though so im definitely going to try this with the next batch of eggs I get.
80 dollars to last more than a whole season of fishing. The cure def makes the bite alot better. Worth the money. If you can afford a nice rod like a loomis I’m sure curing your eggs won’t hurt you 😂
Regular ol borax works salmon don't eat food once in fresh water, bouncing salmon roe is just legal way of snagging. Line goes through thier mouth and the hook gets stuck! What makes it legal is the roe on the hook...
Big Daves the man!!!
Thanks bud for all the tips and pro tips!

Shawn,
Big Dave isn't conventional. He beats to his own drum and cures eggs how he prefers. It seems to work excellent for him!
4 different products? 80$ to cure bait and we havent even gotten to the river? Is this really necessary mister master baiter?
All products minus the sugar rounded up to 31 bucks can be found on Cabela's website.
