Hi, Ken. Glad that you're here and had the chance to try our brand new high speed train. You have lots of experiences in Malaysia and The Philippines, so I hope your visit here gives us all some new insights and perspectives. In fact, the first time I knew you was from a video of another TH-camr. As a rail enthusiast, of course this is exciting! Did you manage to take Jakarta's MRT/LRT/airport train as well? Padalarang is an existing railway station, but then they added a new part for the high speed train service. From Padalarang, you may transfer to the local train to city center or take an intercity train to other parts of Java. Anw, Tegalluar itself is still in the outskirts of Bandung, you need continue the journey by another mode of transportation to city center.
Just FYI, that 7,5 billion USD project funding is not 100% from China. 25% is owned by Indonesian state-owned company called PT.KAI, 35% owned by Indonesian state-owned company called PT.KCIC , and 40% by China's company. So the total share ownership is 60% owned by Indonesia and 40% owned by China. 👍🙏
At this stage the true owner is China Development Bank that financed the line. Seven trains in each direction mean that 8274 seats are offered daily, a schedule that can be assured by leaving 9 of the 11 CR400AF trains in storage. If this video is indicative, less than 4000 passengers make the trip daily, less than 5% of the ridership needed to pay back the loans on a $50 million/km HSR. Fortunately the loans come with a 10 year grace period but Indonesia needs to act to improve the connections in Halim and Tegalluar.
If this one can reach to 350km/h, it`s def the fastest train in the world for sure as normally China`s commercial train has the same speed. Don`t mention about some new train projects in China which can reach to 600km/h as those are still concepts under testing not for commercial using widely. China's infrastructure capabilities are very strong. The great thing about China is that its infrastructure progress and economic growth can surprise everyone. China's high-speed rail mileage has reached more than 40,000 kilometers, ranking first in the world, while Spain has only more than 5,000 kilometers, ranking second in the world. world. The difference is huge. I've taken China, Taiwan (Shinkansen), Eurostar high speed train from London to Paris and Italy. China's high-speed trains are the smoothest. A few years ago, I went to America by train. Terrible experience, very slow, carriages feel like 80's style.
@@casnub5484 But the economic effect it brings is far more than tens of thousands of times that of 1 trillion US dollars. Do you understand this metaphor? Ha ha
@@Jasperchan-w2uand what’s wrong with that? China already transfer its technology to Indonesia, so they can build their own infrastructure and bullet train later
@@Jasperchan-w2u how is it made "IN" china lol... actually it is jointly built by china and indonesia "IN Indonesia", 40/60 shares, because china is willing to transfer technology to Indonesia, so while china is the main builder, indonesians also participated and contributed alot. Not wrong for him to take pride. If you compare to what India is doing, zero technology transfer from Japan, higher rice... go figure.
As an American, I’m insanely jealous of it too. Just took a bullet train in Japan - what an experience! I wish we had bullet trains too. In Japan boarding it is no more difficult than boarding a bus. No guns == no need for security checkpoints
What's going on with american automotive industry anyway? Where did this gigantic truck trend coming from? Your trucks look almost like industrial vehicles.
Thank you for this exciting train ride. Every improvement from getting from A to B is a great achievement. Enjoy. Congratulations to Indonesia for improving their infrastructure a win-win cooperation with China. Here in Australia we are left behind with our transport system, nothing has improved since the 1960’s.
Great that you had so much time to take pictures of the train before it departs. Usually in China, the trains will only stop for a couple mins or so before leaving the station. You don't have much time to get onboard and settle down.

When I was young I used to travel China in a ""high" speed train. It took me nearly 18h to travel from Beijing to xian, I remember having to spent over night on the train, laying on a comfortable bed, watching the countryside fly pass me as the train goes on. But now I only take HSR 🤣. To be frank quite miss the time traveling "slowly",the time spent on the train is fun it self.not only because you can waste time "with good reason" but also you could take time enjoying the beautiful landscape of the country. Still great to see you guys having high-speed rail, definitely a great choice to save time 🥰
As far as I know, EMU that have speed above 200 km/hour are categorized as high speed trains. And bullet train if that train can reach above 300km/hour. Because the current DMU is generally ideal, safe and reliable if the maximum operating speed is 160km/hour.
Wow...happy ride Ken.Hope one day I'll be able to try high speed train.Congratulation to the Government of Indonesia for this mega project.Malaysia Singapore High Speed train project is also under construction. Thanks for this interesting video.
Foreigners see from the outside that Malaysia is rich, but once you go inside, too much development has stalled due to political issues, corruption, debt of 82% of GDP, illegal immigrants, human trafficking and the low IQ of Malaysia people.
No HSR will build. Instead the gov is now under construction to upgrade its KTM track to accomodate ETS train from KL to Johor that same as KL to Padang Besar. Its not a high speed train, just semi-high speed. ECRL also will expected to start operating from east coast to west coast in 2027. It construction now are at 50%.
We have a fast train in the UK called a Pendolino (not as fast as the Whoosh though), a few months ago I took a journey and felt really ill for no apparent reason, on my return a few days later I was ill again. It turns out that the leaning of the train to take corners/bends induces travel sickness. I'm really enjoying your Indonesia trip and seeing how super friendly the locals are.
Pendolino (from Italy) is a tilting train. In order to run at high speeds on old railways, the carriages of this train will automatically tilt. Many people will get motion sickness. Whoosh runs on newly built dedicated high-speed lines and does not have this problem.
Very informative video of the train ride, Ken 👍👍. Thanks so much for sharing your journey! Looks like it’s not really that popular eh, with less than 30% seats taken and none in first class 😯.
I also had my best train experience on the Jakarta - Bandung route. Sitting at the open train door at night during the journey, enjoying the mild tropical breeze and smoking a kretek. But that was in the 90s. But it's great that there's such a fast connection now. Keep up the good work!
glad you had that experience back then. cause there's no more such thing like that now. no open train door, no smoking. if you're caught smoking or opening the train door you will be kicked out in nearby station and potentially banned from using any train services.

The difference is huge. I've taken China, Taiwan (Shinkansen), Eurostar high speed train from London to Paris and Italy. China's high-speed trains are the smoothest. A few years ago, I went to America by train. Terrible experience, very slow, carriages feel like 80's style.
Agreed. The Western countries trains are slow and lack modern facilities.
Well tho, american is a car city. Kinda sad tho.
1 trillion USD in debt for those 40 000 km
@@casnub5484 But the economic effect it brings is far more than tens of thousands of times that of 1 trillion US dollars. Do you understand this metaphor? Ha ha
@@yangguozhang5125 Economic effect doesn't mean you can pay it off lmao. A 16 car trainset with 3 people travelling in it is called effect lmao

Congratulations Indonesia for the big leap in technology! ASEAN future ia looking good.
This 350 km/h highspeed train is the national pride of Indonesia !!!
感谢印度尼西亚信任中国,这个项目是中国高铁技术和全产业链走出去的第一步,你们的总统在参加前几天在北京举办的一带一路峰会的合照中,站在最前排习近平主席的旁边,中国和印尼友谊万岁。
but it is made in china
@@Jasperchan-w2uand what’s wrong with that? China already transfer its technology to Indonesia, so they can build their own infrastructure and bullet train later
@@Jasperchan-w2u how is it made "IN" china lol... actually it is jointly built by china and indonesia "IN Indonesia", 40/60 shares, because china is willing to transfer technology to Indonesia, so while china is the main builder, indonesians also participated and contributed alot. Not wrong for him to take pride. If you compare to what India is doing, zero technology transfer from Japan, higher rice... go figure.
@@karthur3421 it is still made in china the design is the same as the one in China. Just like Taiwan HSR is made in Japan. Face the facts
As a Texan who has to deal with dangerous pickup truck drivers barreling down every road I'm insanely jealous of this 😭.
Then vote Trump. At least he would like to rebuild some railway (may at a speed of 200km/h). LOL.

Great content. I love it as always. Thank you Ken.👍👍👍😍😍😍
Thanks again!😊
Thank you for this exciting train ride. Every improvement from getting from A to B is a great achievement.
Enjoy. Congratulations to Indonesia for improving their infrastructure a win-win cooperation with China.
Here in Australia we are left behind with our transport system, nothing has improved since the 1960’s.
Even in America they don’t have this very modern hightech high speed train today…congratulations Indonesia.
Great that you had so much time to take pictures of the train before it departs. Usually in China, the trains will only stop for a couple mins or so before leaving the station. You don't have much time to get onboard and settle down.
This is high sppeed train in indonesia...fisrt time in southtern asia...you handsome mister ken..
Welcome to indonesia🇮🇩🙏🙏
Keren sekali ulasannya bro, semoga makin banyak orang luar negeri yang berwisata ke Indonesia dan naik kereta cepat
Congratulations Indonesia. The train is beautiful.
Take a panoramic train from Bandung to Jakarta if you want to see scenery. Btw there are some new luxurious train routes go to Java, with suites.
Ken has already voiced concerns about feeling dizzy on the high-speed train. Taking the overnight train to Suroboyo could prove fatal for him.😂
Those trains look 100x more interesting than this one.
I m indonesian living in america for 30 years. I visited jkt last July. Thanks for the video. I would love to try it on my next trip
Fantastic technology & Indonesia is so lucky. The rest of Asia may have to wait or never experience one locally.
Thank you very much for this informative video. I hope to take the Whoosh next month when I'm in Indonesia.
The same as what I saw in my hometown, China. Great Indonesia.

Enjoyed yr superfast train travel. I didn't know Indonesian had such speed trains. Even in India we do not have such bullet train of 350/km speed. It may come in the near future. All the best for yr exploration.

I am so proud of being Indonesian having fasr train, the first in Southeast Asia.
Hope to see the next speed train Jakarta - Surabaya...
Bravo...
Oh wow, such a beautiful and coooool thumbnail ! And you with your red t shirt, it matches so well, Ken.... 👍👏
Nice train🇲🇨❤
Nice👍
When I was young I used to travel China in a ""high" speed train. It took me nearly 18h
to travel from Beijing to xian, I remember having to spent over night on the train, laying on a comfortable bed, watching the countryside fly pass me as the train goes on. But now I only take HSR 🤣. To be frank quite miss the time traveling "slowly",the time spent on the train is fun it self.not only because you can waste time "with good reason" but also you could take time enjoying the beautiful landscape of the country. Still great to see you guys having high-speed rail, definitely a great choice to save time 🥰
I am very happy that Indonesia finally has high-speed trains too like in Europe!
ugh...but China built this...not europe
欧洲有350km/h的高速动车组列车么?
As far as I know, EMU that have speed above 200 km/hour are categorized as high speed trains. And bullet train if that train can reach above 300km/hour. Because the current DMU is generally ideal, safe and reliable if the maximum operating speed is 160km/hour.
Kampung nya di mana
Wow...happy ride Ken.Hope one day I'll be able to try high speed train.Congratulation to the Government of Indonesia for this mega project.Malaysia Singapore High Speed train project is also under construction. Thanks for this interesting video.
cancel no money.
Under construction? Are you sure about that?
Malaysia had so much delay
I see. Interesting. Europe has fast train as well
UK`s gov just busy following big brother the US on politics and military, some basic infrastructure or tech even not as good as what China has now.
实际上,经过隧道时,需要张开嘴巴,否则会有耳鸣现象。这也是导致头晕的最大原因。
Pendolino (from Italy) is a tilting train. In order to run at high speeds on old railways, the carriages of this train will automatically tilt. Many people will get motion sickness. Whoosh runs on newly built dedicated high-speed lines and does not have this problem.
Very informative video of the train ride, Ken 👍👍. Thanks so much for sharing your journey! Looks like it’s not really that popular eh, with less than 30% seats taken and none in first class 😯.
Such a nice train😢 I will try it soon
Have fun😊
Please coming 🙏
I also had my best train experience on the Jakarta - Bandung route. Sitting at the open train door at night during the journey, enjoying the mild tropical breeze and smoking a kretek. But that was in the 90s. But it's great that there's such a fast connection now. Keep up the good work!
glad you had that experience back then. cause there's no more such thing like that now. no open train door, no smoking. if you're caught smoking or opening the train door you will be kicked out in nearby station and potentially banned from using any train services.
Awesome train! Good job Indonesia! Hope I can one day ride on that train.
