The odds of my favourite and most informative channel that I’m subscribed to posting the EXACT video I’ve been searching for the past two days is slim to none but of course you guys come in clutch as per usual! Thanks again MRO for keeping my knowledge and techniques as sharp as possible🤟🏽

MRO is the best! If I can't get products or answers to my questions from my local fly shop I automatically go to mad river outfitters.

Thanks for this; I'll try it for my next pike fishing adventure in Canada this summer.

Brian, check out Saltstrong's videos on mono vs fluorocarbon for abrasion resistance. They tested mono and fluorocarbon lines with the same diameter and the mono always beat out the fluorocarbon. I was surprised by the results since the industry is always saying fluorocarbon is more abrasion resistance. I think the main positive for fluorocarbon is the visibility.

Thank you for the video. You mentioned using an albright knot to attach wire tippet to the mono. What knot do you use to tie the wire tippet to the fly? And do you ever use fly clips in this setup to make changing flies easier? Thanks!

I use a small clip to make changing flies much easier. Rio make good ones, as do Daiwa.

Thanks for your videos. Is it option to add braided line instead of wire?

Lost a bunch of my best Bass lures to Pike and Muskies clipping mono leaders like a pair of nippers. Bass often seem more hesitant to strike when wire is used, so it creates a catch 22 situation.

It certainly does. Thanks for watching.

A lot of conventional pike and muskie anglers these days are using heavy fluorocarbon for leader material these days. You might have more luck with that, but it sinks so it may not be the best with floating flies. Would probably be fine with streamers though.

Could y'all do a video on calico bass? There isn't a ton of info online. Could be a Q&A or a video...

    When you use a 8" or a 12"musky fly
On a intermediate or a full full sink
Line don't you want to keep that leader short ?

Yes. He has quite a few videos on that subject exactly.

That feeling when your new fly rod from Mad River Outfitters shows up at your door...
That feeling when you realize the rivers are frozen and you won't be able to use it for four months...

So for trout in the sound or other fish like blue fish, or anything that would bite flies, will the flourocarbon work?

I noticed the PFD in the background, are you guys expecting a flood? But seriously, good stuff Brian. Pike are one of my favorite fish to fish for. Keep the good stuff coming.

I have zero experience fly fishing for toothy critters, which I plan to change this year, so I have to ask: what knot do you use to tie on the fly to wire? Thanks for the great content, please keep up the good work!
