Yeah no, sounds like you've been listening to sterile nazies, but once a tub is fully colonized it's very strong. Have an immune system, there's a battle between fungi/mold and bacteria, the fight is for food, when 100% colonized the mycelium have locked up all the food.

Could be alot of things, I've seen that when I do my laundry baskets, and it's because they are getting the oxygen they need, they don't need to grown taller, but it is a good question, I don't use wholes anymore, since I've been doing dub tub tek I've had some pretty impressive grows
@@guitarplayzme6449 I doubt so. One of my test subjects is fruiting inside a fruiting bag which is still sealed. The small mushrooms grew very very slim and small. I don´t have a fruiting chamber here, I'm travelling, so I'm observing to check changes.

Mushrooms grow towards light. It helps them know what direction "up" is. But, they don't need light. They can grow in the dark just fine. You don't need any special light setup.

Bucket tek pasteurized coco coir and sometimes I throw some vermiculite in there but just coir works pretty good, I buy the bricks from petco or petsmart
@@abundantcat7448 I use eco earth, different store have different brands but I use bricks, pour boiling water on it in a bucket and put lid in it, then you wait till it's cool and bring it to field capacity, I hand squeeze all of it.
Ideally around 75 F. and the trick to fruiting is start at 100% humidity and let it dry with air exchange naturally (slowly) and then when the beads of water dew dry off the sub that's when pins will form, and then hit the sides with spay bottle to bring humidity back up to 90-100% humidity
I should say I put them in fruiting conditions after 10 days, then another 5 - 10 days to get pins. I don't recommend starting multiple tubs at a time, spread them out about a week or two weeks, and you'll have non stop fruiting, other wise you'll be overwhelmed

Psilocybe cubensis prefer manure based sub. The gnats will def cause contam. You can use whatever home remedy you want for em, but best method is to just shut it down for a few weeks. Hardwood sub is for your wood lovers, azurescence, ovoids etc. Cubes want manure. Coir works fine. But if you think about it, you don't find cubes growing in the dirt, and you certainly won't find them growing in a tree or any wood slash. You find them in manure.
