With the new year kicking in, Bangalore’s prospects as a wholesome real estate destination have increased further in the backdrop of upcoming infrastructure projects that would provide India’s Silicon City with a fresh lease of connectivity.
With the lure of the city inviting more people here, plans are also in the works to develop satellite towns near Bangalore to expand growth and decongest it at the same time.
Likely to be developed along the alignment of the under-construction Bangalore Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), these towns are expected to come up in Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Nelamangala and Bidadi. These towns will also have connectivity with the newly inaugurated Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
In the upcoming Union Budget, the city’s infrastructure is also expected to get a major push with financial allocations for the suburban rail, the 280.8-km long STRR project and the special high-speed trains connecting Bangalore to various parts of Karnataka.
Aside from connectivity within the city, Bangalore will also have better connectivity with other major towns in the country with several under-construction projects approaching completion.
On one hand, plans are firming up to develop the 518-km long, six-lane, access-controlled Bangalore-Vijayawada Expressway, which is set to reduce travel time between the two cities from the current 12 hours to 6 hours. The expressway is expected to open by 2025.
On the other hand, the upcoming 262-km long Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway will reduce travel time between Bangalore and Chennai by 2-3 hours. The project is expected to be completed by March 2024, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced.
