Such a badass build. Only thing I’d change is the boy racer steering wheel to something a little more classic. But that’s a matter of personal taste. This thing is an inspiration to us 71-73 Mustang owners. Thanks Jason!
Thank you! I go back and forth on the wheel myself... it is nice to have all the sculpted leather grips but it's not a home run looks wise for me either.
HA! It's illegal don't ya know. Makes me feel like a total rebel to wear it as much as possible lately... LOL It did make me a bit nervous to try that awesome Pinto design you made a few months ago...
This was a great informative video, thanks! I don’t mean to bring it up if it’s a sore subject, so apologies if it is, but what’s going on with the super charger for large marge?
The blower isn't a sore subject at all. It's just a matter of not having the right efi system to run it without major modification... plus there's the whole not being able to run it with a hood on until cutting a hole in it and all of that stuff. I'm enjoying driving it and getting the chassis and suspension dialed in right now and will worry about adding boost later.
I'm about to start hacking into my front end to install my TCP rack and pinion steering system. Only difference is that I haven't been able to buy the TCP front suspension yet. Would you recommend that I mock up the factory arms and spindles for now as I start to install the rack in its rough position? I am also considering removing the entire front crossmember and fabricating a custom, bolt-in replacement. The Biggest difference is that my car is on my rotisserie and I plan to perform the switch while it's upside down(Tin Man subframes already installed). Any last minute advice? I can't wait to get to your stage of the game! Keep the videos coming... and I just might come over to use your bumpsteer gauge! 😎
Wow that's serious! I'm racking my brain and think getting the rack in requires at least the lower control arms and eccentric eliminators so get that stuff at least. Building a cross member sounds like a great idea! Good luck!!!!
The build is great - alignment is pretty conservative i personally drive and track allt he buils but but more like 6 degrees caster and at least -1 maybe even -2 camber
I was surprised by not needing the aggressive settings that I used to run. It's easier on hubs and ball joints to run closer to "normal" setting but once I put some sticky tires on here and hit the track... things may need to change. And I'm thrilled to get that chance!
@@AutoEdits is that cut out stock for a 73? I'm working on a 65 and does not look like that. Can't seem to attach pic but at 11:59 in it looks like the frame rail is trimmed
As always, clear and precise infos. I'm surprised as far as camber in front, would you increased that if or more likely when you run sticky?? . I was runnung 2.7 front 1.5 back on hoosier on the porsches. Using moton remote canisters 3way. Did you ever consider converting the back to an independent suspension? I imagine there's kit for that. I dont know much about american muscle cars. 🤔 Thanks again for taking the time to educate us, it is appreciated.
Howdy! I was surprised at the level of performance at such a conservative setting myself. But remember, I said this is a combination car... mostly street/road trip and some track day activities and those aggressive suspension settings make for a less comfortable car and are hard on ball joints, hubs, tires etc. That said, this may all change like you mentioned, when I put some sticky tires on there! I would love an independent rear suspension but it is just way too expensive for the improvement gain on this particular project.... If this were a 69 Mustang Fastback... then heck yes I'd be working day and night for that...LOL!
Good morning, I’m a Jeep person but you have now got me hook on your Mustang. Great explanation of suspension. You may have covered it, but I’m curious about engine HP. It sounds very healthy, have you put it on a Dyno? I’m just curious on rear wheel HP? By the way, my wife said no when I asked if I could start building a hot rod. 😭
Howdy! I haven't had the Mustang on a dyno yet but my "butt dyno" tells me its about 300 crank HP. Eventually I'll get it tuned and find out. Keep working on the wife for that hot rod project... play the long game and eventually you'll wear her down! LOL
Hey Jason, love the car it looks like it handles amazing. Your wheel and tire set up is the same as mine but it looks like your set up is filling out the wheel wells more then mine. I’m on a stock suspension with lowered 600lb coils. I had two questions on the suspension from TCP. Converting to disk, did it add any width to the over all width? And what about the front did it add width as well?
I don't know what the actual width is but here's the video where I get the measurements for wheel backspacing th-cam.com/video/BmN6KPTAnig/w-d-xo.html It front width has some adjust-ability but the rear probably only gains a tiny bit.
HA! I've actually traveled a bunch with guys like David Freiburger and Rick Pewe who really are automotive encyclopedias! On the question... I feel each project is unique in what IS "done" and the saying that a project car is never really done is kind of true. That said, any project vehicle reaches multiple states of enjoyment as is. The Mustang is in a place right now that I truly enjoy it for exactly what it is and when the time is right... I'll start getting interior back in there and eventually body and paint.
i got the willwood brakes intalled on my 65 and im thinking about going wit total control suspension im only 16 so will get wen more funs arable but are they worth it.
@@AutoEdits well the OE spec alignment is a lot of caster and some other funky things. Got urethane bushings bump steer correction and rack bushings. I’m looking to build for Pikes peak and standing mile events. So just wanna tune alignment to do it’s best
It is a ton of fun... I think it's time to start dialing in the interior a bit more.... going to need a basic roll cage or something to mount a harness to. And a lot more driving of course!
LOL, nope, just a fabricator at an aerospace company for a few years. During the Red Bull Stratos program, I was a life support systems test dummy and wore the space suit for a lot of hours!

Jason...I can't even express how happy it makes me seeing all your hard work get out on the road. Can't wait to see more of you enjoying Large Marge!
This comment makes me really happy... thank you so much!
Pinto !!!!! The Star !!!!!! Well done Jason !
Been following this Mustang all the way. Glad to have a recap on what you have done to dial this in more and more.
Thanks so much for being around the whole time!
Thank you so much for the new video. Literally gives me a 27:41 break from all the craziness right now. It really helps 👊
Heck yes!
Sick ride! Great build J! Motor heads will always say if your foundation is the KEY to all builds.
Thanks dude! Yeah, I feel the same and this car has proven to be a truly great driver!
Went back and watched the video with the z28. My pops had one when I was a kid have always wanted one. Awesome video again!
Cool! That was a great car!
Now I am dialed in... Looking good there Jason.
Thanks a bunch!
Oh, Jason, one more thing… Love your SHIRT

Great video brother 👍
Thanks!!!
Great video. Thanks for content I really enjoy watching your channel.
I'm glad you took a minute to watch, thanks!
Thanks for the awesome info! Very helpful!!!!
It's something... happy to try... stay safe!
content feels extra good during quarantine lmao
I love hearing this... thank you... Kind of struggled but want to come up with something.
Awesome. Great job!!
Yeah buddy!
Loving the Mustang content!
First bro. Keep up the good work and videos. We love them.
Thanks so much dude! It gets tough sometimes... but comments like this help!
Jason, please get better seatbelts for they rocket.
Great video and cool guy 🎉❤

Stocking cap in April in SoCal. 😳. BTW...nice stang.
It was weird cold for a minute there!
On the front coilover setup Did you have to notch your frame for the strut rods at full compression? Hope pinto is doing well
I didn't and the bump stops I installed seem to keep them under control. Did you see the test drive video... I show a close up of them in action.
@@AutoEdits is that cut out stock for a 73? I'm working on a 65 and does not look like that. Can't seem to attach pic but at 11:59 in it looks like the frame rail is trimmed
@@pls93 I don't know what you mean. Here's the install video th-cam.com/video/ALbrInnpoV8/w-d-xo.html
The install is even easier on a 65.
Do you have any experience with the Aldan American coilovers, are your coilover selection best for muscle cars?
I don't know anything about that brand. The Total Control Products coil overs are amazing... I wouldn't want anything else.

Dude you're like an automotive encyclopedia, wikiJason.
I have a question for you.
When do you think a project car is done?
HA! I've actually traveled a bunch with guys like David Freiburger and Rick Pewe who really are automotive encyclopedias!

any advice for a wishbone strut front suspension, I could use the help thanks.
Is wishbone the same as A arm? Not sure what advice you need. Fresh bushings and great struts/springs is the answer... always.

@@omcoffroad1355 Lots of caster is a good thing for road racing but I don't know for speed events.

Probably a 6 point... basic door bars are required for some events and they also add strength to the body!
