Not sure about game play, but IRL thrusters can only strafe if you have both bow and stern thrusters and set them both in the same direction. Most boats with thrusters only have them on the bow, so to strafe in a diagonal direction (let's say to port) you need to run your thrusters to port, steer hard to starboard and manage the throttle to keep from turning. Thrusters do not have anywhere near the turning power of the rudder and so are only used for slow manoeuvres where the cost of the inefficiencies are worth it, ie docking or turning in tight ports / channels.
Dp1 and dp2 should be at the same depth and the camera on the sonar is at the back of the net so the closer you are to the fish the bigger the blob gets. I think readcoat viking did a good video on it.
You need to keep the "spider" in the green, going in a straight line or very little side to side movements is a must aswell for it to not fuck up. when you lower your net down you have to give it a little time for the spider to get the right symmetry again after sinking like 200 meters. Think of it as a parachute, think about how it deploys, when you pull the string it pops up in a small ball and then slowly deploys/widens out more. that's pretty much what the net is doing aswell! It takes some getting used to but it's great money really. hope this helped you a little :)
It does take some practice to trawl, but when you get it it pays pretty good, and at a fast pace. I tried it awhile ago. From what I get is the red, and green squares on the Scanmar radar mean port and starboard side nets the squares are the opening of the net, you use the sticks to guide the opening of each net in the schools of fish. When on fish another radar will go fully green and your percent radar will fill pretty quickly. The triangle in the middle of that same screen (IE: the radar that shows the red, and green squares) is the bottom of the boat looking forward, The dot map radar shows how opened the port and starboard nets are. More green more opened=more fish. There are lots of things you can stick in the custom set up, but you do not need all of them. You will figure out pretty quickly which radars you need to monitor more then others. Speed would be one to add, the nets (red and green square radar with boat in the middle) would be another to add. Percent radar would be good to add. Nets depth is another one to add, since you need them to be around 100m deep otherwise the nets will hit the bottom which you do not want The other radar that shows the dot markings would be one because it shows how opened the nets are. BTW Good luck. I think you will need it.
Sorry the squares are not nets, there is only one net. The doors are solid and set at an angle to hold the net open as you move, they are attached to the sides of the net. The sensor is mounted on the top of the net and faces the boat, if you look between the doors you can see the boat, it actually says boat right on it. So the fish should be between the doors to go into the net. Also remember since you are sitting backwards, just to confuse you more, lol, the port (left door) is actually to your right. So the stick on the the left controls the door on the right unless they changed it in the new game, I don't have the new one. It does take a while to learn how to use it.
Also, in a previous video you wondered about the weather display. Oktas refers to eights of cloud cover. 0 = no clouds, 8 = full overcast. I believe the gauge next to it is wind speed. More wind = more waves / swell. I don't fish, but these affect the behaviour of fish. Google it to find more favourable fishing conditions (if simulated in game).
On the forward sonar you got the targeted school of fish. The spider is showing you what you need to accomplish to get the trawl-net aligned with that school of fish. Just set autopilot for right speed from the helm without gps course flags on the map. To catch fish you need your trawl-doors to be below 100m. When you make course corrections keep in mind that your are making one line longer and the other shorter (watch door depth and twist of the net. Try to correct your course early so you give the net time to settle on the new course. Turn auto speed off when you start catching fish in the net and be ready to slow down. Your net is filling up and that generates more tension on lines. On the Deckster start retracting the lines at 40% full and drop enginespeed to 0 when 60% is full, don't mind that you are going backwards. You are better of trawling 1 or 2 times more than snapping the trawl-net off at the 1st haul. Keep your trawl-screen simple at first, you can make it more complex if you are used with the basics.
Use autopilot, set your speed so in the spider its in the middle green, set your starboard and port lines at about 15-20m seperation for optimum balance, basically use your spider so everything is balanced in the middle.
Forward scan sonar......... Your fish sonar scans downwards, so gives a top down view of what you just passed over. The forward scan sonar however is aimed forwards. This is showing depth (up and down), position off the bow (left and right), and distance (how far in front of you). The cross hair shows the distance and depth. When you see a large pocket of fish, put the cross air on it and find the depth. Lower your gates to that depth and steer the boat to put the school of fish in between the two gates. Watch the distance, when it drops to 0 you should now be putting fish in the net. Not played the game (yet) nor am I a professional trawler, so your results may vary...
Actually sonar it will show you correctly at 100 m, rest 250 / 500 0r 1000 it shows the history . I was asking you if you want to help you with a video about trawling and how to do it , how to keep the trawl open , how to trawl safe etc...you didnt answer
Wow, this suddenly got a lot more complicated. Wish I had any ideas on how to operate this. The screen with the spider said dst was off, maybe see if you can put that on your screen to monitor?
I watch your videos on other TH-cam channels I don't know if you ever rewatch your gameplay content but in every video I've watched you cannot hear any of the game volume without turning it up really loud it's just you talking in every game I think you can get more subscribers if you turned up the game volume some just my opinion maybe it's louder in your headphones than it is in the videos you're recording keep it up brother keep on grinding
How do you watch his videos on other channels? Can you give me their names? Also I doubt the game volume affects his subscribers, lol. You could just ask him/point it out to him without mentioning that, as it can be useful feedback for a content creator to know if their sound levels are off.
Sooooo I know this is old... BUT why are you dropping 5000 lines and 10,000 lines at the same time..?? The reason I'm asking 1st is I don't have this game....I know for more money..lol .BUT are you trying to beat the game like on 1 day.?. It's FISHING.. LOL
You need to use your thrusters to move the ship sideways into the buoys and the docks, it strafes the boat one way or the other instead of turning it.

"Redcoatviking gaming" has a really good trawler tutorial.

Coo
in that ship, i normally set 2 10,000 hook long lines and get more than enough to fill the whole thing up.

im sure it will just take a little time to learn
I’ve worked on a commercial trawler. VERY profitable.

It would be cool to make a collab with fishing planet and make this a real fishing simulator
Watching this as I set a 10k longline..
How long is that gonna take?

A joystick on the right hand side of the seat please learn how to use it
it would help you out a lot
