- I'm finally getting around to reviewing my payload capacity for my 2023 GMC Sierra 3500 AT4. Does it have more than my RAM and can it still keep me legal towing my fifth wheel? || Like || Subscribe || Share || #weightwatcherstruckedition #GMCSierra

Have a 2022 GMC 3500HD Denali DRW. Payload is 5413lbs. We are pulling a 19,000lb 5th wheel.
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 that’s awesome! You can’t beat a dually 👍🏾
Great video and explanation. I want to point out that as weighed, your truck has about 3200-3300 pounds of capacity to put on the rear axle. This is why GM list the max tongue weight as separate from the payload. As long as you stay under that max tongue weight (pin weight) you will most likely never exceed your rear axle rating.
Also if your truck would have had the snow plow prep package or the HD front springs/camper package your front axle rating would have been increased. 6000 for the plows package and I’m not 100% sure what the HD front springs gives a diesel. For a gas it goes 4800 standard, 5200 HD Front springs and 5600 plow package.
I hold off for the 2024's if you're gonna buy GM truck.
The redesign is very cool!!
2022 Ford F-350 XL supercab DRW 7.3 4x4...payload 6,677 lbs. Hauls our 3,800 lbs slide in truck camper with ease.
My 2019 Ram 3500 SRW HO Laramie crew cab has a 3900# payload. Pulling a 2016 Jayco North Point 377RLBH. I need to take it to the scales, just got the fifth wheel one and half months ago. Almost bought a 2500 but glad I bypassed it.
My AT4 3500 has the identical payload number, #3782. The only difference, mine is equipped with the camper special front torsion bars that gives me a #6000 GFAWR. With that being said, my 2021 SLT Duramax 2500 had a real good number at #3189, that's were the GM 3/4 ton trucks really shine. But that number was a little to close for comfort with my set up, so we went up to the 3500
Thanks for sharing, I wonder if your truck rides any different compared to mine 🤔
Now that Ford/GM trucks will have a onboard scale, staying within your payload is even more important if you decide to upgrade 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork I think it is probably a little stiffer in the front, but GM does a good job on progressive rate springs to keep the unloaded ride quality in check.
New subscriber here. I've seen several of your videos and really enjoy your content. This is exactly the one single channel that I have been looking for given what you cover. I believe you're a Maryland resident, I know the last few videos I watched of you in Frederick. I live in Carroll County. So I have an older truck, 2010 Chevy Duramax 3500 LTZ dually. I believe my payload is 4714. It's interesting the max towing is 13K pounds. I'm looking to upgrade shortly and to see how much trailer weight allowance have increased blows my mind.
Thanks for subscribing! The thing I never understood is how quickly these trucks towing capacity increased within a few years although I think its because of the towing standards/ The 2019 and earlier GM duallies were still way behind with max towing being around 23k. I am currently in Utah and we are strongly considering moving here!
@@JB_WhoWork I'll follow you on that. Now the numbers have more than doubled, in some cases, makes me wonder exactly what the big 3 uses to determine how their trucks can handle so much more weight with little visible changes ( I mean their no old school Kodiak looking trucks) and just unlocking more HP and torque then they call it good? IDK. And Utah, don't get me thinking about that place! My absolute favorite state by far. I traveled out there 2 years ago to Moab for Easter Jeep Safari and fell in love!
Don't use pump def in that truck it'll cause issues. Just went through it with mine. Use only peak blue and not the platinum cause that will cause an issue as well. My 2 sends and could save you some money in diagnostics and repairs.
Just to keep it straight... The curb weight is the vehicle as it came off the assembly line with installed options included. It DOES NOT include fuel, coolant, windshield washer fluid, etc. All those 'fluids' fall under the payload weight. Right?
My 2022 Chevy 3500HD LT trim has 4114lb payload.
Since I bought out of state, need scale cert, inspection, and its a 1500 with numbers on door jamb.....not good enough 4 DMV
You will love your GMC bro, maybe miss some interior but actual truck itself will be second to none....I have the next gen interior, it's sweet....but really I wouldn't care be GM from now on......certain things matter besides interior
I love my 22 2500HD Denali very strong truck only thing I don’t like is the E brake it’s really soft compared to my 5500 Ram E brake
Your first truck was a ram now that you own a gmc you can compair the two trucks with better faits on
I've been told from multiple mechanics that we should not use the DEF at the pump cause it'll cause issues with the emissions system. Not sure what the difference is maybe something to do with the tanks it's stored in, don't know
If you get your DEF at a truck stop you should be ok. Those tanks are regularly replaced with fresh DEF.
I only get my DEF from the pump and have never had any problems whatsoever. The best way to prevent DEF issues is to delete it lol! J/K that’s against the law 👀
@@JB_WhoWork I get really really good DEF mileage👀
@@JB_WhoWork that's for sure, after the first DEF related emission problem I had I was driving and some stuff fell off and now my DEF guage is stuck on full super weird
@@JB_WhoWork don’t get me started on how def is stupid and not needed and a total pain in the ass 😂
Need that spreadsheet!
where can we get that spreadsheet?
My 2021 Chevy 2500 has 3600 pounds of payload a 100 pounds less than the diesel
That’s really good!
Get the app for the scale
What did the cat scale weigh empty with gear in
Bed
My 21 ram 3500 srw ho tradesman has 4030 payload.
My 2023 3500HD GMC DRW is up over $100,000.00 CAD... Still waiting for delivery lol
Expensive.
@@Weak_juan Extremely
That’s crazy!
My 2022 gmc 2500 gasser has a payload of 3700lb
Oh wow that’s great for a 3/4 ton 👍🏾👍🏾
My 22 Chevy 3500 hd LTZ gas has 4060 payload but only 2460 max pin weight. I feel cheated by that low pin weight.
Yeah, my 22 2500HD is gas and I'm single so I wouldn't need all that family weight!
Guess I can either get the 3500 and take the wife or get the 2500 and tell the wife SHE needs to lose some curb weight ha
Im taking a guess right now, you over loaded by a couple of pounds😞 Were is my free prize😋
Lol, well we will find out Sunday 👍🏾
