I agree, Selim was the only son other than Mehmed who was loyal. I think having to watch his brother and nephews die drove Selim to drinking. He never wanted the throne, he just didn't want to die over some stupid law.
She can blame herself for his death, I have no pity for her. I just couldn't stop crying for poor Cihangir who suffered this tragic death due to his mother's actions. The same with Mustafa I couldn't stop crying the whole time.
1:09:22 I was waiting for this scene, In the history of what happened Yahya poem spread around and some people accused him for disobedience for grieving on Mustafa, but when Suleman summoned him and heard the poem he told him exactly what did he say in the scene, It was his way of grieving as a dad since he can't as a ruler, Actually a magnificent work from the writers to keep in mind the mental states of each character and leak it to us to understand why they did what they did.

What is the purpose of the writers? They don't show how devastated these siblings about mehmet's death? It was not shown. They act as if nothing happened to Mehmet before.
I always find it funny when Fatma and Mahidevran and them think they can "stop" Hurrem. She won. Either way she becomes Valide Sultana, and gets the power. It does not matter which kid gets the throne. The only reason she didn't become Valide is she died early. So them trying to stop her was entirely pointless. With Mustafa gone no one could hurt her as she'd just be defending her own children thus she can't be accused of anything.
I don’t understand how the writers made mahidevran’s character so evil that she forgot she killed the most innocent prince Mehmet! She is the true murderer. Her character has no remorse at all. Gosh I don’t know why she doesn’t get beheaded in this series. Most evil. I liked her over Hurrem at the beginning but after she killed Prince Mehmet I almost stopped watching

Mustafa’s biggest betrayal was knowing that there were powerful statesmen plotting against the sultan in favour of him and he kept silent. His loyalty was not to his father, it was to himself. The fact that Rustem is being punished for killing guards who tried to kill the sultan irks me. Yes he is a dog to order the assassination attempt on Mustafa’s life when Hurrem invited him to the capital according to the sultan’s wishes but he is still very loyal to the sultan. Mirihmah and Hurrem used him for their own plans. I looked for any incident where he betrayed his Sultan but there was none. Ibrahim sought to be greater than his Sultan and even detested his service towards to royal family. He too was used by Mahidevran until he got tired of her whinning. By then he was too occupied with telling the envoy that he tames the Sultan and compared his sultan to an animal with no sense of direction. Apparently all viziers had to have allegiance to some sultanna for power.

The Sultan's mother, sisters, Mahidevran, Gulfem & all others who hated Hurrem so much all undermined the Sultan & directly & indirectly contributed to all the problems in the dynasty & the final demise of Mustapha & Cihangir. Hurrem may have her own faults, but Mahidevran was so pained & jealous of Hurrem that she started poisoning other people's mind against Hurrem. All she cared about was her son Mustapha taking the throne & nothing else. Mustapha may have loved his father so much but he pretended not to notice the hidden powers that wanted to use him to overthrow his father. I remember Hurram being not so nice to many people at the beginning, even fellow concubines. Remember when she burned her best friend Maria because she did what she was kidnapped for (making Suleman happy). Then she let her continue to mind her children and she said to her in a callous way, "Cover yourself, I dont want the children to be frightened" Children are more accenting than adults. That is when I was anti Hurrem.

And Hurrem’s decision to hang her supposed rival as well as Rana hatun to revenge herself and protect her guilty secrets with Nurbanu were as cold blooded as Suleyman’s execution of Mustafa and order of execution of Bayazid.
I lost all respect for Atmaca when he killed Rustems brother. He was innocent. While Mustafa may also have been innocent, killing another innocent person does not right that. Plus it was known that Mustafa wanted Bayezid to take the throne upon his death. Since Rustem also wants that, Atmaca is trying to hurt and kill someone who is on the same side, which dishonors Mustafa.
I lost all respect for Atmaca while he was planning to kill and dethrone the sultan with the jannisaries. He can never call himself a loyal servant of Mustafa and incite rebellion. He has no honor. He is nowhere near the caliber of Bali Bey who vouched for him. Anyone who was part of planning a rebellion against the Sultan deserves to be beheaded. Including Mustafa’s power hungry wife. Mustafa should have also told his father that he met with that traitor Piri Reis and tell them what they were doing. But he turned a blind eye. Very sad

Mehrunnisa is the most innocent here yet she suffers the most... Even more than Hurrem and Mahidevran... She first loses her husband and then her son... I really loved how she questioned the deeds of Suleiman. She's the most transparent, intelligent and brave yet the most innocent character... I love her character since the very beginning. ❤

However, there is evidence that Hurrem and Rustem had made an alliance and they started to organise the downfalls of Pargali Ibrahim Pasha, Prince Mustafa and Kara Ahmed Pasha. No, Mahidevran never poised Roxelana or killed Mehmet in real life. Both are plot devices. What really happened was a cat fight with scratching and hair pulling, and since the real Roxelana was : non Bella Ms grassiada (short and plump) in the view of the Venetian envoy, she got the worst of it and when Suleyman called her to him next she replied that she was too disfigured to grace his presence. From that moment on the sultan had nothing more to do with Mahidevran.

This is de second time I watch this serie, the first time, I felt pity for Bayezid but now I hate him, he's arrogant and odious. Never felt respect for his older brother, all the time he was threatening him and making him feeling less than him. I think Selim just tried to survive like his mother when she was young

Don't understand why people are supporting Hurrem eventhough she is the cause of all evil in Suleiman's dynasty. All other prince, princes and Pasha can't even get even with her. I neither like Selim nor Bayazid but Bayazid is more annoying than Selim. Infact he admitted if he was in Mustafa's place, he won't have thought twice and would have rebelled against his father indirectly. Mustafa and Bayazid both had childhood insecurities, but Mustafa was more respectful, and at least more fair. The difference is Bayazid broke rules without any consideration, while Mustafa cause he was in a situation he had no choice. Selim somehow got lucky and he sticked to the basics which is follow the rules and that got him the throne. Yes Selim was selfish, but he used his mind better than Bayazid.

I hate how this show portrays Hurrem. In the beginning we see a woman being taken from her village as a slave to be sold. She's sold to the palace and decides to make the best of the situation once she see the Sultan and is bewitched. She gains a chance to spend time with him. In pops Mahidevran, nope i don't like this chick she can't have my man, he's mine and I am going o be Valide one day and rule the Harem with my son as Sultan. i'm going to do everything in my power to get rid of her, even if it means I have to lie cheat, steal and turn everyone against her. Hurrem, I was brought here a slave but I will not go down without a fight. I will try to make them see that I love the Sultan but if they get in my way I will defend myself. And she keeps defending herself and her children until the end. But instead of showing the Phoenix rising from the ashes they try to make her look like a devious women who only wants to punish her enemies. We don't get to see Hurrem happy, all she did was struggle throughout the whole series smh I wanted to see her happy!!!!

Mahidevran blamed Hurrem for taking Sulieman, she tried to intimidate Hurrem but that didn't work, she had Hurrem thrown in the dungeon, tried to have her married off, beat her due to a miscarriage that she brought on herself, poisoned pregnant Hurrem and caused the other Sultanas to feel bad for her while making them dislike Hurrem. 2. Hatice and Hurrem started out okay. However , the relationship went down after Hatice married Ibrahim. She became his puppet and when he cheated and Hurrem told her the truth it was over from there. Hatice in turn blamed this misfortune on Hurrem instead of her cheating husband. They made a deal with Firuze and protected her while laughing in Hurrem's face. Hatice wanted to prove to Hurrem that there was no true love between Hurrem and Sulieman, all to make herself feel better because of her cheating man. 3. Sah Sultan hated Hurrem because of the stories the other Sultanas told her, she truly had no reason to dislike her sister in law. She found love in a hopeless place with the Sultan and gained a family only for the Snakes to try and take it all away. Valide Sultana should've put a stop to it in the beginning but she chose to take Mahadevan's side as did the other Sultanas. If you back a cat into the corner what will it do??? Attack right?!?! And that's what they did back Hurrem in the corner and she came out swinging. I know some people won't agree with this but All I see is strength and perseverance. Throughout the whole series Hurrem stood alone while fighting against the whole dynasty.

This is inaccurate. Mahidevran sent poison to the sultans table when Hurrem was pregnant with Mehmet to get rid of the child and mother. She did it because she was afraid Hurrem would bear a Sehzade! I started off watching this series completely siding with Mahidevran and despising Hurrem but when I saw how both women were I got turned off. I don’t understand the complete devotion to either Mahidevran or Hurrem. But in all fairness Mahi attacked first. Remember when she beat her up so badly. Hurrem’s ego was a turn off to me but in all fairness all she has ever done was retaliate. Mahi ego and strength was in Mustafa ascending the throne and she would threaten Hurrem with this over and over. I always find it funny when Fatma and Mahidevran and them think they can "stop" Hurrem. She won. Either way she becomes Valide Sultana, and gets the power. It does not matter which kid gets the throne. The only reason she didn't become Valide is she died early. So them trying to stop her was entirely pointless. With Mustafa gone no one could hurt her as she'd just be defending her own children thus she can't be accused of anything.

I remember Hurram being not so nice to many people at the beginning, even fellow concubines. Remember when she burned her best friend Maria because she did what she was kidnapped for (making Suleman happy). Then she let her continue to mind her children and she said to her in a callous way, "Cover yourself, I dont want the children to be frightened" Children are more accenting than adults. That is when I was anti Hurrem.

I lost all respect for Atmaca when he killed Rustems brother. He was innocent. While Mustafa may also have been innocent, killing another innocent person does not right that. Plus it was known that Mustafa wanted Bayezid to take the throne upon his death. No, Mahidevran never poised Roxelana or killed Mehmet in real life. Both are plot devices. What really happened was a cat fight with scratching and hair pulling, and since the real Roxelana was : non Bella Ms grassiada (short and plump) in the view of the Venetian envoy, she got the worst of it and when Suleyman called her to him next she replied that she was too disfigured to grace his presence. From that moment on the sultan had nothing more to do with Mahidevran.

I hate how this show portrays Hurrem. In the beginning we see a woman being taken from her village as a slave to be sold. She's sold to the palace and decides to make the best of the situation once she see the Sultan and is bewitched. She gains a chance to spend time with him. In pops Mahidevran, nope i don't like this chick she can't have my man, he's mine and I am going o be Valide one day and rule the Harem with my son as Sultan. i'm going to do everything in my power to get rid of her, even if it means I have to lie cheat, steal and turn everyone against her.
Hurrem, I was brought here a slave but I will not go down without a fight. I will try to make them see that I love the Sultan but if they get in my way I will defend myself. And she keeps defending herself and her children until the end. Mahidevran blamed Hurrem for taking Sulieman, she tried to intimidate Hurrem but that didn't work, she had Hurrem thrown in the dungeon, tried to have her married off, beat her due to a miscarriage that she brought on herself, poisoned pregnant Hurrem and caused the other Sultanas to feel bad for her while making them dislike Hurrem.
2. Hatice and Hurrem started out okay. However , the relationship went down after Hatice married Ibrahim. She became his puppet and when he cheated and Hurrem told her the truth it was over from there. Hatice in turn blamed this misfortune on Hurrem instead of her cheating husband. They made a deal with Firuze and protected her while laughing in Hurrem's face. Hatice wanted to prove to Hurrem that there was no true love between Hurrem and Sulieman, all to make herself feel better because of her cheating man.
3. Sah Sultan hated Hurrem because of the stories the other Sultanas told her, she truly had no reason to dislike her sister in law. However , she was also in love with Ibrahim and wanted to punish Hurrem for his death as well. She played many tricks on Hurrem "stealing the money so the harem would riot, abducting Salem and Bayezid to prove a point, sent spies into Marimahs home and played apart in the disappearance of Hurrem.
4. Fatma Sultan the most horrible and vindictive Sultana, the husband killer and the most disloyal. Fatma came to the palace with one thing on her mind and that was to cause mayhem. She wanted to bring Hurrem to her knees and destroy everything Hurrem holds dear. Fatma like all of the other Sultana wanted Mustafa to rule the kingdom once Sulieman passed on and she was going to do everything in her power to make sure that happened or at least she thought she would. The worst thing she did was fuel the fire between Selim a Bayezid. No true loyal Sultana of a dynasty would pit her nephews against each other just to hurt their mother.
All in all, I don't think Hurrem was an Angel. We all know she has done some HORRIBLE things. But when you look back she has her reasons and had she remained soft she would've lost her life long ago. I mean she was taken from her home, her parents and sister killed in front of her. She found love in a hopeless place with the Sultan and gained a family only for the Snakes to try and take it all away. Valide Sultana should've put a stop to it in the beginning but she chose to take Mahadevan's side as did the other Sultanas. If you back a cat into the corner what will it do??? Attack right?!?! And that's what they did back Hurrem in the corner and she came out swinging. I know some people won't agree with this but All I see is strength and perseverance. Throughout the whole series Hurrem stood alone while fighting against the whole dynasty.
I think it's very strange Suleiman still doesn't know of the alliance between Hurrem and Rustem. Or does he know and just not say anything? Strange how he's allowed himself to be played to the point of executing his best son.

This is inaccurate. Mahidevran sent poison to the sultans table when Hurrem was pregnant with Mehmet to get rid of the child and mother. She did it because she was afraid Hurrem would bear a Sehzade! I started off watching this series completely siding with Mahidevran and despising Hurrem but when I saw how both women were I got turned off. I don’t understand the complete devotion to either Mahidevran or Hurrem. But in all fairness Mahi attacked first. Remember when she beat her up so badly. Hurrem’s ego was a turn off to me but in all fairness all she has ever done was retaliate. Mahi ego and strength was in Mustafa ascending the throne and she would threaten Hurrem with this over and over. If someone kept threatening my son like that all the time I would be forced to play the dirty palace game they all played against each other with death being their only peace. I understood their sad reality more when I saw the coffins of 19 princes in Kosem 😢

Despite so many times Sultan told Hurrem to stay away from his state affairs, Hurrem refused to obey. She git exiled twice but kept crawling back ti the palace agaunst the Sultans orders. She fixed so much in Mehidvran to leave the palace when Mustafa was given his province but when Sultan did the same with Selim and Bayezid? Hurrem plotted so hard ti manipulate Sultan to postpone it all because she didn't want to leave the palace. Live us ine thung but to use Sultan and manioulating him ti her advantage, none if them can handle a tiny pain the way Mustafa dealt with Hurrem and Rustems plots for so long. Rubbish, Hurrem has killed/destroyed anybody that has got in her way.....Mustafa was ALWAYS going to be an obstacle.
