After the program was canceled, the research was directed toward an engine for the F/A 18E/F Super Hornet. I think it's pretty cool that my dad had an such an integral role in development of the F414 engine ! F18s are so badass!

Most folks have no clue how many it takes to get 1 plane ready to launch behind the scenes. Same for usaf ground crews.....that said best pilots in the world...

I know there are many that are still in love with the F-14, but the F-18 is a much better plane for its role. The F-35 still has some bugs to work out like the degradation of its radar absorbing outer coat by ocean elements. The F-18 is still the most reliable and proven navy fighter.
