When Liberty goes hand in hand with Responsibilities, they both are well taken care of. Some ragas have one predominant mood but KalyANi is indeed a Navarasa NAyaki! It can convey even the utmost sympathy and depth of pathos "aio" so very sweetly. It is not just the mother rAgA KalyaNi that is so rich and sweet. Her offsprings mOhana kalyAni, Hamir kalyAni and Yamuna kalyAni have their own special places in the hearts of the listeners. It is like one royal queen and her three royal princesses ruling over the world of music!

Each and every episode of Vande Sangeetham, overflowing with Shri Vijay anna's love, passion and dedication towards music reminds me of the great character Akhaligai of Ramayana who first tasted the fruits before offering them to lord Rama. However, here music is unlimited and infinite unlike fruits and everything is great about it, not requiring to be chosen, I still feel that the comparison can be made due to the fact that anna tastes and enjoys music to his heart's content and offers the same or presents it before us with such dedication as he would perform a Puja. I wish we as rasikas, though not Ramas yet are sure to be transformed soon to be like ones if we are going to continuously consume as much as anna is going to offer us. Best wishes vijay anna.

Fantastic, to say the least. It was a wonderful experience swimming in the ocean called Kalyani. I have heard the wonderful rendering of Thalli Ninnunera by DKP Amma. I read somewhere that Dikshitar had used Ma to the minimum in his Kalyani compositions. Heard Himadrisudhe only once sung by Sri Balamuralikrishna in a Kannada movie Hamsagithe (Swan Song). Vijay Sir, please watch this movie when time permits. This episode on Kalyani is, in my opinion, really the Queen of your VandeSangeetham.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

An enlightening Experience during this continuing Journey of Vande Sangeetham and an absorbing Experience within each episode. Yes Sir, Kalyani has always been my favourite Raaga. Have gained some knowledge from this Journey and I thank you Sir for everything. If we take Varnam, once again Vanajaakshi a favourite. If the great Vidwan MDR Sir started his Kutcheri with the Kalyani Varnam in his unique Vilambakala style , I knew that the Master was absolutely on top. An Episode or Episodes only for Varnams could be interesting for us. Hope it would be possible.
In Bhajare Re Citta, Deekshitar has also mentioned Bhava Raga Tala Modini meaning that Ambal enjoys the sangeetham having Bhavam Ragam and Taalam and thus says we have to incorporate this in our Carnatic Music. Ragam and Taalam is there in our music but the Bhavam element should also come. Rama nee vaadu konduvo is there also of Thyagaraja in Kalyani Ragam.
