The heart of my being lies with Gurren Lagann, and it powers me to this day. For the longest time, I was depressed beyond repair. Nowadays, since I broke through my shell, I started loving myself.
Your description of your depression reminds me of Shinji Ikari from _Neon Genesis Evangelion,_ which is interesting because _Gurren Lagann_ was basically created as the antithesis to _Evangelion._ If you haven’t seen _Evangelion,_ here’s a basic rundown without spoiling too much (hopefully): Shinji is depressed for the entire series because his mom is dead, his dad is an asshole, and it feels like no-one appreciates him despite the fact that he’s apparently one of the few humans on the planet capable of piloting an Evangelion against the main who are trying to destroy humanity. After he is forced to kill his new best friend (who it turns out is a Kailua disguised as a human) his depression gets so bad that he inadvertently causes an apocalyptic event which is basically the Rapture before realizing how highly he was actually regarded by his friends and peers.

Is it just me that gurren lagann is very underrated even tho its mc (simon) has tbe most strongest mecha to ever exist that could rival almost any anime character because not only STTGL is 100x bigger than the universe hes also a 11D being pluss any kind of brain manipulation or illustion would be useless since simon and the rest were able to break of the infinite labrynth out easily, plus STTGL itself is tier high 1-C itself or higher
