    Oh wow 200 bucks for a brushed 2WD. I found the HBX Desert Truck 4x4 with fluid shocks, metal front/rear/center diff and all I've got to do now is slap in a brushless! Seems to be a great value so far for 100 bucks. However, im having some issues finding affordable motors that work, as im not sure what fits! This info definitely gave me a lot more than i knew so great work Jessie.

      Not without strengthening the gearbox and wheels, no. And it would likely run a bit hot. That said, you'd have a theoretical top speed of 90km/h+, which is very fun as long as you don't crash.

    • @HobbiesDirect
      @HobbiesDirect  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use any motor that fits, but the best and easiest way to get more speed in the Quantum+ chassis is to go big on the pinion gear; the stock car ratio is very conservative. Getting the car to handle at 60+mph is going to be the real challenge though haha.

    • @HobbiesDirect

      You will need a brushless esc to run any brushless motor. If you already have the traxxas brushless ESC, it should be able to do it as long as you keep the kv down to about 3200. And if you haven't already, add a fan to the VXL-3S ESC :-)

      Another 540-550 sized motor - so like a 3650 or 3660 brushless. Don't go too big though, the drivetrain was never designed for that level of power and it wouldn't take much to start breaking stuff.

      You can make anything faster, but keep in mind the more power you have, the more you are stressing the drivetrain, and you don't want to break hard-to-find parts. Probably just go for a hot brushed motor in that one :-)

    Im assuming a max10 combo is the newer version of the hobbywing sc10 combo i ran in 2008? The sc10 combo came with a 4000kv motor and the sc10 esc was 3s capable. It made a massive difference in the traxxas rustler i had back then over the xl5 and titen 12t it had stock. That rustler is no more. But the sc10 lives on in my sons bigfoot. Yes its older then my son, but has proven to be a quality product as its 14 years old and still goes hard.

    • @HobbiesDirect
      @HobbiesDirect  ปีที่แล้ว

      This one seems to be like an updated "quicrun" Max10 that was around a few years ago. Same tuning parameters. Gotta say, for sensorless and comparatively high kv, the motor is super smooth and punchy with almost no cogging.

    • @Greg....
      @Greg.... ปีที่แล้ว

      @HobbiesDirect the old sc10 had a tuning card and for old stuff was good. Im assuming the max 10 has the same if not better adjustability. Soft start on a rwd is nice, kind of like traction control but more like making the thing easier to not go too hard too soon on a thing if its just a hobby if you arent a full on into it racer.

    • @RTmadnesstoo
      @RTmadnesstoo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@glitchedenemy3806 I'd just go up a tooth or two at a time while checking motor temps. Go up until it gets too hot after a long full throttle run or acceleration suffers then back off one tooth. Then you have pretty much maxed that motor combo out.
      'Too hot' has been defined by many as 'you can't keep your finger on it for a 3 or 5 count'. Temp guns go on sale often so just watch for a good deal.
      You can buy incremental gear sets of 5 gears from places like Amazon which is cost effective. They may not be the best gears but when you find what you want you can buy a good hardened or chromed one as your 'trial' gear wears out. Probably be time for the other gear by then also. I've found the factory poly gears are best -and quietest -for those replacements.
      Just don't make big radical changes and you should be Fine. And Have Fun.
