    I am blown away at how good that epiphone IBG sj200 sounds.. it actually sounds better than most gibson jumbos i've heard. Maybe it is just the fact that J.P. cormier was playing it.

    Got mine today. Quick and EZ install. Perfect fit. I can hear the difference in resonance, and feel the difference in comfort. I go to a weekly bluegrass jam. You may be seeing more orders once I talk it up. thank you for a nice quality product. Also, excellent beard. I’m one who started shaving at twelve, cut myself both times.

    Decota’s custom ebony ARC has been installed on my Boucher SG-41-G for 3 weeks. I simply love what it’s done to unleash my guitar’s resonance potential by eliminating all forearm dampening. JPs right about 20% more! Feels great and is exquisitely crafted. It’s perfectly fit for me and my guitar.
    Decota’s building me another ARC for my Boucher 000-12FTB. Can’t wait!

    A tip of the hat to J.P. On his advice I bought a Alvarez MD60BG. After 5 months and a custom made bone saddle and bone bridge pins along with Monel LJ med/light strings it now rivals my 2012 D18. It went to a fair but not a D18 bass response to a thunderous bass with the upgrades and 5 months almost 6 of constant playing. Now for Christmas I was given by my wife a IBG J200. The workmanship is amazing clean bracing no glue oozed out anywhere. What a nice sound that will get better with time. I already had a luither spec the saddle for a new custom bone saddle and bone bridge pins. As soon as I have a surgery on my cervical spine after the 1st of the year and recovery to play again I am getting 2 of these armrest. Already about a month ago contacted Dakota and what a nice guy a fellow welder /pipe fitter by trade like me. Thanks JP for your recommendations on the MD60BG and J200 . Your showing us what quality is out there without spending $2400 to $3800 for an acoustic.

    There's another guy who demos guitars on TH-cam and in one video he makes a big strumming finish and then lifts his arm with a flourish. The way his guitar opens up the second he lifts that ten pound ham off the top is all the convincing anyone should need. This is the first time I've seen the ARC armrest but I've installed other brand armrests on all my guitars, some of which I shaved to fit. I like the longer length and shape of the ARC. I use the same kind of gray double stick tape on ebony armrests and, before I install, will blacken the visible gray edges with a felt pen. Give the black ink time to dry before installing. At one point in the video it looked like you were wondering how much better that Epi would sound without the Gibson-like humongous pickguard stuck to the soundboard. I agree with all the responses below, it seems like something that big would create a dead zone. I wonder how it would sound if you removed the pickguard and went full Willy Nelson. That fat mustache bridge can't be doing the soundboard any favors either.

      I'm planning on getting one of the IBGs just after Christmas, and that's the first thing I plan on doing. The guitars themselves, at least the ones I've played, are great, but I've never seen pickguards that incredibly thick, and I really hate it, both visually, and for what it has to do to the the top. Something like that has to dampen the resonance significantly. So when I do get mine, it's bye-bye Epiphone pickguard, and hello Gibson replacement.

    Wanna hear a huge difference? Get rid of that big soft tone killing pick gaurd, 3M adhesive double sided over the ENTIRE GAURD! Took it off my Excellente and it really was quite noticable.. the projection and resonance we're jaw dropping! l am sure this arm rest indeed helps by allowing the sound board to get max movement, l have one that came on a Taylor GSmini-e l bought last year.. at first l thought why would it matter on such a small guitar but likely it improves a smaller sound board even more so! Great informative video!

    Hey guys can you EQ the difference between no armrest versus with it on and see what the decibel difference is later on think this would definatlely be a major selling point ,the other I was thinking about is how much time a Luthier spends to build in a dentent in the body to make it easier on the arm and also the price to do that !!!

    Does it really have that big bottom (not fluffy)? I can get myself one of these things (very good price), but I wouldn't be able to return it (shipping it back would cost half the guitar) and I love the SJ200 (never have played one, have a very old Epiphone one (not that bad but bottom end is non existant) and a Chinese one (which is stellar to a degree).
    And I cannot dole out 5500 (3999 used) right now for the "real" thing.
    If you could confirm this, would highly appreciate it.

    Lord thundering J**** that Boucher sounds good with the armrest. Watching both 'afters' it looks like the rest is more centered on JPs arm on the Jumbo. Your arm seems to rest a bit lower on the Boucher. You kind of reach over the Jumbo and around the Boucher. Great, well produced video.

  • @marlonroshan4484

    All these Epiphone high end guitars have plastic bridge pins. It says ivory on the spec sheet but they are plastic.
    So upgrade them to Tusq, bone or ebony.
    Gibson's same models have Tusq bridge pins.
    You will see improved tone after the upgrade.

    Not a new idea, Bigsby did this in the early 50's. However, nice touch. My big question is that you have a Gibson Pickguard on that, not an Epiphone, did you have the guitar with it already on or did you buy it and why? I don't like the plastic thin pick guards on any guitar, thick pick guards are much better

    • @freddysnip6257
      @freddysnip6257 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ian Cal Ford, Hi Ian, the pick guard may look like a Gibson one, but it is on the Epiphone inspired by Gibson origginally. It is thick and beveled. I didn't like the flimsy thin pick guards on the Epiphones either in the past.

    • @johnp6269
      @johnp6269 ปีที่แล้ว

      Epi pickguard is on it they are so thick if he put a Gibson one one he’d probably have even a bigger sound, they say think pick guards kill tone not sure how true that is i always take mine off. When that shrinks it will crack the top. It’s a good looking guitar.
