  • As a Noob to sim racing, I thought I'd share my Forza Touring Car experiences, my wins, my loses and my wtf moments. I try to explain my thought process and hopefully provide you with a learning guide or useful tips.
    My strategy is simple, stay alive at all cost. We all know Forza Motorsport can be a little chaotic at times. I hope with a more passive tactic, I can swoop in and take the position. While also improving my own skills as a sim racing driver.
    Track learning is key, hopefully by reviewing my race choices and my mistakes, I can help others learn and improve upon their lap times. Thus making the racing world more fun and competitive.
    I am using a G920 Logitech wheel, and playing Forza Motorsport on PC using Xbox Game pass. I do not have the VIP, or cars pass, this is the basic game as available to everyone.
    I do hope you all enjoy the content, Racing and Sim racing is great fun and helps you escape the harsh reality of the life.
    Jump into the comments section, I always answer, look for further advice, constructive criticism and most of all fun.
    Share your experience, shout out to me that you raced with me, that I beat you, or more importantly you BEAT ME.
    Thankyou all for looking and watching. Be safe, Race safe and again most of all have fun.

    loving the content, regarding no putting at Spa, i have found that running the subaru levorg with it being rwd you can do a no stopper on hards. found the tyres would go to minor tyre wear at the start of lap 6

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah someone said before the levorg can do it but it’s close like. But never expected the golf to be able to do so. It used to eat times like a hungry rat eats cheese lol

    • @DanielHP1993
      @DanielHP1993 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I enjoy running the levorg, medium races do help balance out the slower pace that the levorg has with the ability to do actual tyre management, have been able to get quite a few podiums on recent races against what would be much faster opponents by just managing the tyres

    • @DanielHP1993
      @DanielHP1993 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i tried running the gold when FM first came out but found too much understeer and chewed up the tyres to quickly for my liking, unsure if it’s the same since it got debuffed

      @danieladams8075 yeah, I had a friend who was an animal in the levorg I could not even get close to them. I mean if you can hold within a second or 2 behind the other cars then pit time is around 30/45 seconds your laughing in the end.

      Yeah, see this is what I thought, seeing I do not have the DLC, i cannot test to find out. I very much doubt the tires got buffed along with the speed, unless turn 10 were having a good coffee morning lol

  • @Ekinoxe
    @Ekinoxe 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    It may sound drastic, but I genuinely believe that players with an S security rating should never be matched with anyone under S. I think that this, in itself, would fix a lot of matchmaking issues. If everyone is an S, chances of people getting destroyed by being swallowed by a sea of "rated D for dumbasses" drivers is greatly reduced. Of course, I also agree with you that they need to prioritize the skill rating when matchmaking.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      O I totally understand buddy, I also believe S rank rating should be much harder to obtain, while again, it should also have a slightly different rule set where as, track limit violations should not impact as much as contact. This may encourage closer racing, while also not punishing people for avoiding other cars.
      Combine this will skill rating, then I think the lobbies may well be quite clean,
      It does seem the drivers that have the most incidents are still on a good rating, I did hear another driver managed to get a D rating which must have been a challenge in itself lol

    • @Ekinoxe
      @Ekinoxe 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Flashms Absolutely, and track limit penalties are often ridiculous when it comes to going wide. You lose time to avoid someone. You get a penalty. It never feels good, lol.
      That's what's frustrating. You know that to get a D rating, the player had to just not give a shit. I should never be paired up with that.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it is a pain but I sort of understand why it is there, helps stop track cutting when overtaking, even though it does happen in the real world to an extent. But the penalty is so inconsistent, if no time is gain then no penalty should be given, 7-10 times you lose a few tenths rather than gain due to the drag effect. But what do I know lol.
      Yeah i think the player went out of their way to see how low they could go (i have been tempted to test lol) but yeah they was in the race with me. No issues, to report with that player, but still, should have never been paired by the matchmaking system

    I’ve played hrs and hrs on this game , invested in a wheel and all sorts of hrs doing setups etc , I’ve now come to the conclusion that, that the race should follow qualifying, with ghosting of cars ,, then no contact or arseholes, fastest wins slowest comes off ,, no more cheats and dirty players ,,, Simple Solution, cheers shane uk 🇬🇧

      I’m sure forza 7 there was 2 types of racing. Ghosted cars and non ghosted. I mean correct me if I’m wrong but I’m like 75 percent sure. I mean least then it would give people a choice on what they would prefer.
      I mean I do not mind a little bit of contact you know sometimes you do not realise someone is besides you and you do more nudge them so you move back over. But it’s not a battering simulator lol.
      All the best bud :)

  • @xXScarhandXx
    @xXScarhandXx 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I’ve found that every lobby is completely random when it comes to the drivers skill/speed.
    One race I could have a great battle with 3-5 people with zero contact bumper to bumper racing, all lapping within tenths of each other. Then the next race I’m 3+ seconds a lap quicker than the entire lobby, all I see in the mirror at turn 1 exit is carnage and half my screen lit up with penalties.
    I’ve been S safety 4999 skill since launch, so it seems the driver/skill rating system does absolutely nothing as far as I can tell.
    You are correct about T10 prioritising full lobbies over evenly matched lobbies. I’d much prefer close clean racing with fewer cars over the carnage of lobbies full of people who can’t drive.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I totally agree with you there bud,
      yup i can relate to that to, I mean you seen it sometimes on my screen where i am crazily ahead, even times i slowed down just to relax and let them catch up lol.
      well you beat me on skill i think, my safety rating i look at like once in a blue moon bud it doesn't faze me. Something that is fully out of my control.
      this is exactly it, the amount of times i had some seriously amazing races due to the lobbies being nearly empty is amazing, I find it weird bud, like i say i have raced in Low fuel motorsport, Which i recommend. In ACC and even I racing, you are matched on skill, pace and if you are found to be a dirty driver, then you are banned, but an official is there to oversee it. Of course that's not going to happen for Forza, its impossible to review every complaint from that kind of stand point, by narrowing down lobbies, you alleviate that anyway, cleaner drivers should be rewarded, with better more competitive races. I mean i don't care if i win or lose, i just love pushing myself, or someone pushing me to push myself rather than dominating the lobby and overall becoming complacent and slow.

    • @xXScarhandXx
      @xXScarhandXx 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, clean competitive races above all else is the dream.
      I agree that pre qualifying before going into a race would be a great way to balance lobbies.
      Seeing as the rotation for tracks stays for a week, you could always improve your time if you wanted to move up a lobby. and by the end of the week the fastest people would all be racing against each other and so on…
      One down side I see to this is people purposely sandbagging to win, but a way to fix that would be you get automatically promoted up a lobby if you win, so it would still even out in the end.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh yeah, that is good thinking there, never come across my mind working your way up as you get better.
      yeah this has been mentioned before and that does seem to be a main issue, but really when you think about it, its a vanity win not a skill full win. Like taking a sweet of a child, like yes you have the sweet but not like the kid can fight back, so now you look like a ... lol.
      Like you say, getting promoted on your winning lap times will also push that out of contention.

  • @vonblunder
    @vonblunder 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    they just need to have a proper ranked system with an ELO system. You cant even look up another drivers stats, there is no leaderboard etc... so long after release it seems they are not serious about online races.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know bud. We have been requesting this for a long time. It would be great to have a weekly leaderboard to show lap times on each event etc etc. least then it’ll blend in rivals with the featured races.

  • @WhoTFisGreg

    I’m new to forza and racing games in general and I feel like I’m punished for have a S rating. I’m in generally clean lobbies but everyone is soo much faster than me. Obviously I don’t want to be In a lobby of Rammers but I would like to be competitive especially if I’m investing 15-30 mins in a race. Some say the game is prioritizing a full lobby rather than a fair one. I think they could do both with multi-skill racing. Imagine a full lobby but you are only racing 6-7 others within your skill range. Could be interesting I think. Most of all I just want to not always come in last and others don’t want to just keep winning by landslides

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I get you bud.
      The flip side of this you have to remember your not racing against p1 but the car in front of you. Then try and get passed that 1 car. It really helps relieve the pressure during racing. If they are faster than you. Stay behind. Do what they do and learn from them. I know in my videos I do call out braking points speed etc. from there you can still further improve your driving. It’s all about rinse and repeat. Don’t let it get to you. My first few videos man. I was never winning. I am no way near the fastest now. lol.

      If so combined with a updated and properly working match system could clean out the lobbies a bit.
      And yes just like real endurance "to finish first, first you have to finish" will become a bigger factor.
      Hopefully T10 will make it happen🙏

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do hope so, so long races should be like 40 mins to an hour, and they should do special endurance race with damage, reduced tire wear or at least changed, I do not want to have to go into the pits ever 3-4 laps lol. Ring endurance sounds like a winning place to start then le mans. Like you say, making use of the matchmaking system, then the races will be so competitive yet fun and relatively clean, mistakes do happen.
      I do hope so, their just a little slow at fixing and implementing things at the moment lol.

  • @sdmayday
    @sdmayday 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I am not sure if it is the matchmaking system that is flawed or if it more a problem related to the player base with this game. We all know that the game does not have the highest player base. There is a good number of players that am frequently matched up with and the lobbies typically have one, two, maybe even three faster drivers, while the rest is filled up with players of all different abilities - including people who are more than ten seconds behind the pace. Your own rating does not seem to matter at all. If anything the game needs to attract more players to allow for more balanced lobbies. We're seeing that some problems with this game have been addressed, but I wonder if it has been too little too late to make a big difference. There are still very annoying bugs in this game that drive me crazy at a dayly basis, but when the game is good, it is very good, so I still love playing it. I am currently sitting at 45 days(!) of playtime. You could argue that custom open lobbies (maybe with some restrictions) could be a thing to do, but it might dilute the player base even further, so it is hard to tell if that would be a god thing to do. T10 would not be able to remove them again without causing a revolt by the players.

    • @Flashms
      @Flashms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      While Ill agree to an extent this is true, the game caters to many individuals, from casual to full Sim, I would not call it an problem with the player base itself, as the problem could easily be alleviated by actually using the skill system in place, thus keeping the different style of players away from each other. Like you say, it does not, as you have noticed, some races 1,2,3 have gone of into the wilderness while P20 is being lapped. Yeah the game does need to attract players back, upon releasing the ring it attracted a load of players back, but they soon left when the game is still in the condition it is in now.
      ooooo man, to late to make a difference. Ouch, now I might get pinched for this, I have defended the game and stayed positive as much as I can, I do massively enjoy the game itself. But I have to be honest, I do agree with you here. The game has been out for almost 6 months, and yet in reality there has not been much of an improvement. Ok we had bug fixes, which is kind of to be expected. I mean bugs such as loading screen or optimizing shader issues and that. I would NOT call the replays not working a Bug. That to me is expected and part of Racing games in general. So that not working is not a bug, taking 4-5 months to fix it is shocking to say the least. Being drip fed tracks to keep relevant for game pass is not a great business model.
      I do agree, there are still way to many bugs today, and again I agree with when its in a good mood this game is an absolute blast.
      45 days of playtime, wow man, let me know what lobby you are in so I can avoid getting my butt kicked to hard lol.
      Yeah I get the pros and cons of custom lobbies, while I do not think turn 10 would bring in the idea due to costs, you are right, once its in, their going to have a bad time removing it lol.

    • @sdmayday
      @sdmayday 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Flashms Exactly, lots of bugs still. Yesterday alone, the stole a qualify lap from me, ruined another one because of some sudden game stutter out of nowhere, kicked me out of lobby twice right at race start (and never before that), took three minutes to apply a livery to one of my cars. As far as game crashes go, I am experiencing only one maybe two a week which is 'acceptable'. I had turn off ingame music completely, because the game would oftentimes forget to turn of one music track before starting the next one. You can imagine how much fun that is having multiple sound tracks playing at the same time. I still love this game. We'll propably never be matched up unless you are from Europe sadly and judging by your driving, you likely don't have to fear me. :D I am mostly doing the Spotlight lobbies if I like the car.

      Wow that's not good man, I have not had that one yet, what i do have is sometimes when I qualify, I start from standstill rather than a flying lap. Then i know the rest of the race is bugged. I have had the game stutters kicking me out on plenty of occasions though.
      O wow 2 songs going in one ear, ewwwww man, I tuned it off soon as it came on lol, could only be turn 10 coming up with a bug like that lol. I mean lets be honest crashes do happen, but one a week is enough. I think more than that you may start to think something is broken lol.

    The matchmaking based on quali time wouldn’t work. Too easy to cheese! Someone who just wants to win could sandbag massively in quali, get placed in a worse lobby and disappear into the distance. Also what would happen to those like me who prefer, depending on the track, to not qualify and race from the back?
    The answer is to tighten/actually use the Safety/skill rating correctly.

      I think that if you don't set a qualifying lap during practice, your car should be ghosted during the race. This would allow them to keep full lobbies but the rammers wouldn't be able to ruin your race. If you take the time to set a qualifying lap, I think your less likely to be a rammer. It always seems that at the end of the race, you see all the people that didn't finish on the board and they are always level 1 drivers who didn't set a lap time and have no idea what the track is like.

    Its way too easy, to get a high skill rating. So it cant be used as a filter. Even my slow ass has a 499x skill rating.
    But the underlying issue, at least in central europe, seems to be that there are simply not enough players online to be choosy about who gets in.

      I understand what you are saying but there is a difference between dirty driving and lack of skill and knowledge. This is why I say their matchmaking needs to take place thus keeping the new unsure people down in the lower classes. And experienced fast drivers with other drivers of the same level.
