I really liked the back view redesign, even if it looked like a generic European car. This front view doesn't look great at all. The perspective in the bottom areas feels distorted, and the front looks deformed overall.
Agree. Also it does kinda look like a 2015 Skoda Fabia lol

Definitely on to something with this redesign, though. I like the square look, especially for Mercedes, but you're right. The lower intake has a 45 degree angle on the drivers side, and a 90 degree angle on the passenger. The rest of the front end follows those lines, and makes it look distorted.
That's cause he redesigns only a part of the car, which he shouldn't.

That does not look bad, but still it’s not a great redesign. Some proportions are missed, especially the lights. Back view was way better then the front one as for me. Anyways, I appreciate your work. Keep doing what you do. Have a nice day.
The idea was the design...he always seems to miss proportions on front ends of cars. But the main idea is the graphics where he did a great job

I'm luke-warm on this one, I must admit. I feel as though the rear design was a staple of genuine beauty, but the front end gives too much attention to the giant lights and perhaps the slightly too minimalist bottom of the bumper. Nevertheless, it's your design and to criticise something so subjective would be foolish - great work

When i see any Mercedes of any year, i only fall in love with it. No questions asked. That factor isint there in this design. Doesnt look like any Mercedes of any era. Re designing a Hyundai, Kia, Seat, Mitsubishi, Subaru, chevy, Ford or Toyota is digestible. Brands like Bentley, Mercedes, VW Group, BMW, Porsche or Cadillac are designed by gods. These brands have evolved with time. They havent changed a bit. But a Kia looks like a new brand every 3 years. Love your sketches and tutorials. 🙏🏻
2023 will be the 30th anniversary of the E class. So they need to do a heratige edition for it with that sort of design
Not going to lie, it looked like it was not going to end well up until the very end. I like the short design brief and rationale for the redesign and the result fits it. But this is to me, a clear case of to each his own. Great video though and packed with good reasoning.

My favorite was between 07:00 and 07:20. I saw clearly an E Class there. In the end, the final result was more close to some kind of obscure joint venture between Mercedes and some chinese brand.
I really like how the headlights look around 8:30. After that it starts to fall apart imo.

Lot of people complain that Mercedes design now is not as good as its design before 2013. The best ever design was on 1990s.

I think you captured the design aesthetic of that weird Daimler-Chrysler era, this looks like it could easily be rebadged as a Chrysler 300 AMG

Could you pick one "best car body" design? I have one, and it turns out Arlen Ness had the same favourite. I fell in love with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I when I was nine years old, and we are still in love. Keep up the exceptional work, and thank you for sharing your talent.

I totally see where you are going with this, and there were moments in the process where I felt the elements were really good, it seemed like every change you made had a knock on effect and needed another element changing. I think that some people have issue with the proportion, but are looking at the wrong place, and if you look back to the Volvo 240 redesign, you tweaked the greenhouse considerably. I’ve owned two W124s and currently have a W126, and the big thing about cars of that era we’re more slender pillars and glass that extended further down, and I feel that is where the proportions are off.

After reading the comments, it turned out better than i thought. Towards the end for me it got a little worse i think it was at its best at around 10 minutes into the video. Personally not my favourite redesign but keep at it, not everything you do turnes out perfect and thats normal. Love your content.

I believe you just demonstrated to Mercedes-Benz why they should never go back to the boxy design. This looks like it should be a modern-Russian developed vehicle.
I was really excited to see how the front end will be done. -And I really like the result. To change the roofline at the A-Pillar was really making it together with the shoulder line. - Nice "Bauhaus" touch. Great result!

it looked great up until 9:14 when you started messing with the headlights again and made everything be more rounded and curvy. Kind of a departure from your own redesign, back to having it be soft.

You can modify head lights and front grill more to achieve better proportion.
I think the horizontal grill slates work better on these boxier designs.
The curved top edge of the headlights could be sharpened, and the bonnet shut lines could've been 3 straight lines with no curved ends.

You should make a video and just compare design languages in older vehicles and how they look now.
One question, what are your views on the pre-facelift model of the W212 E-class? Personally, I loved it when it came out because it was like it took all the classic Mercedes styling cues and planted them into a contemporary shape that still looked like it was carved out of a solid block of granite, it was so cool after the blobby, organic W210 and W211, and I think that they lost some of it with the W212 facelift, even more with the W213, and even more with the W213 facelift....
For the front design language, rather go & look at the New GLB for 2020 : it's also quite boxy, but there you'll get a better "picture" of what represents Mercedes-Benz style.
But I agree with you - the current E-class doesn't look completely right : their designers are also struggling with the front end.
You make some dope designs. Keep up the good work. You have a great eye and I hope one of these manufactures pick up on your great mind. Or have someone invest in you to redesign older cars and trucks for aftermarket market. Something like a Chip Foose!!
Headlights are too big, make them thinner. Change the grill design, leave it unbadged and put the oldschool target on the hood. Make the mirrors rectangular too. That would make it look alot better.

Looks quite similar to the Mercedes SL from 1990-2000 except this doesn't have that weird look where the hood just slopes down towards the ground in front.
Can you do a redesign from different manufacturers and eras? Like a modern Audi with some older BMW and a tad of 90s Mercedes

Ooh. This one's off. I prefer the rear redesign. I think the front's lights should have kept some curve, but have it squared off to look more like the late 1980's SL.
I think it would be interesting if you do a 4 door Bugatti similar to the eb112 concept from the 90s
Hi i am a big fan of the 124 but the redesighn was not great .
Can you try to make both the 124 and 124 hammer a bit more modern front and back but make it from 124 photos not from e63 photos.
Just more aggressive grils bumpers rims ,modern mirors amg ,smal gaps, better door handles carbon difuser and so(maybe hood grills.Bmw fin antena. Maybe nissan gtr spoiler for the hammer

I am by no means a professional, nor necessarily any good at altering pictures. Were I to Gimp around with your doctored image though, I would've revised the hood shutlines, specifically have them continue all the way to the headlights and along the top of the grille. Also, I definitely would've made the lower intake narrower and perhaps bookend it with foglights or something.
That left side of the lower intake also needs more squareness I reckon.
Please don't take the above as me criticizing what you've done with the design though, I'm merely sharing my own ideas were I to play around further with your redesign. Your design looks awesome, I just have this urge to add my own take to it as well :)
The redesign is good but I think if you spent some more time on changing the shape of the headlights it could look better.

I miss the boxy formal German design of the 90's. Loved the AMG Hammer.
The front reminded me the R129 SL series.
I like the way it looked, but something was off. The bonnet looks like it should come down to the end of the front, almost around the grille like the boxy ones did. Also I think you needed to fix the a pillars need to be a bit more boxy as well, like more straight. Overall I love your design though!

Unpopular opinion but I’v always wanted to see a redesign of a toyota celica 1994 gt4 I know its always been known as a rally cat but man I’v always wanted to see what it would look like as a modernised sports car
I think you should have fixed the hood opening to more in line with the w124. The panel gap running from side to side looks ridiculous.
I'm not sure I love it but it's a nice take. The rounded hood lines do not fit with the redesign and should meet up with the grill.
Should have actually pullet the bonnet all the way to the cut line, aswell as integrade the line that comes down the side into it

To be honest, i didn’t like the redesign of the front and the back, because there is a reason for the evolution in the styling and in my opinion doesn’t suit this day and age. But I totally respect the work.
Its a cool idea but the front looks like a Ford Crown Victoria mixed with a Volkswagen Jetta with a Mercedes logo slapped on it. Kinda cool but i don’t know what to think about it because at the same time it looks like what jeep would make if the Grand Cherokee was a car and not an Suv. Lol i don’t know what to think😂😂

I liked the front and rear, but should the glass and roof have been widened? I'm no expert, it just seemed a little too much of a pyramid type view. I would have liked to see the car maintain its width from roof to ground
