Hi Dan, could you plse try the thumb-up shooting position on this stock ? What lock-up system on the breech ? Ball bearing or wedge ? I wonder if a shorter carbine version is also in the works ? THX ! btw, looking forward to a review of its Warhawk sister.
Hi Hendrick! Thanks for getting in touch and sorry for the late reply, for some reason a lot of comments aren't showing up for us at the moment even though we're getting them in our "notifications" tab. The lock up on the Sabres are the same as the Expresses with the rifle use a ball bearing detente. The thumb up shooting position is definitely achievable with the Sabre as there's ample room on the stock leading up to the action to rest your thumb. As far as I'm aware there have been no news regarding a carbine Sabre but I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything. We'll get the Warhawk review done as soon as we can! At the moment we're doing the cheaper end rifles at the sub £200 or maybe even £100 mark but as soon as that's over we'll get it looked into. Thanks Hendrick and all the best.
Dan, just love your reviews! My son and I watch them. I have an Original, old El Gamo, (ASI paratrooper I bought when I was 16 in 1978 just because it looked cool) and it's still going. After your Milbro Explorer review, I ordered the Camo version which was out of stock from Pellpax, just before the lockdown, and there's no sign of it yet, they are dreadful to deal with, poor comms, they sent out a message it was being delivered a month after I ordered it, but they sent me someone else's email. I'm thinking of cancelling the order but where else in the UK do you recommend I can get one?
Hi Henry! Thanks for the lovely comment I'm glad that your and your son enjoy them! Haha the ASI is a very interesting rifle I've been wanting to have a play with one of those for a while! I do plan on reviewing some of the quirkier older gear in the future. I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the Explorer being delivered. Have you tried calling PellPax to see what's going on? I'd try to sort things out with your PellPax order first before maybe going elsewhere. If you have no joy or would rather go somewhere else then let me know and I'll see what I can do for you. If you're in the Essex are we do offer a delivery service or we can also RFD transfer any rifle to your nearest firearms dealer for collection if it helps. Thanks Henry and all the best.
@@bigdansairguns83 Hi Dan, I did a bit of research, realising Pellpax may be having difficulty. What I found was quite the opposite, but as a consequence of the investigative work I managed to get hold of MD. Darren Kirk's email address. I wrote an email and the comprehensive reply I got was sad reading. It's the PayPal money hold scam, which PayPal are holding over businesses to mitigate their risk for non-delivery due to companies going under during the Covid crisis. PayPal have frozen over £108K of customer receipts in his PayPal account. Meaning, though Pellpax acknowledged receipt of my order, Funds, namely my money was never transferred to Pellpax. This has severely damaged Pellpax reputation and left many customers like me waiting for refunds we are not owed by the sellers, but by PayPal themselves, who have had my money since 13th feb 2020. if you are using PayPal, I suggest you cease. Darren has petitioned his MP to take the issue to the CAAS Luxembourg's financial regulator, where PayPal is registered in Europe. I've raised a case against Pellpax initially on my PayPal account, but now I know the details of this issue I have scornfully approached PayPal for being dishonest with customers raising complaints which are unjustifiably attributed to the symptom and not the cause. I have a fight to get my money back, since PayPal disgracefully, want PellPax to refund me with money they never received! There are plenty of TH-cam videos about this recently and there was a case on ITV Central where the same happened to an 11 year old girl raising charity money of £55K for the NHS Covid appeal. After the media article PayPal released the funds. I have reordered from Sports Guns, but not the Milbro, but the Remington Sabre TH. 22 Cal, you reviewed.
@@henrysiegertsz8204 Hi Henry! That's absolutely dreadful mate and I'm so sorry to hear about what yourself and Pellpax are going through. It's good to hear that you got settled with a rifle though Henry and the Sabre is a lovely gun to shoot. Have you had a chance to test it yet? Thanks Henry and all the best.
@@bigdansairguns83 Hi Dan, Pellpax sent a refund, My son decided on the Remington Sabre TH instead of the Milbro. And today I got a new spring and Piston seal kit from Chambers for my ASI Paratrooper. I also received a chronometer from Amazon today, the XCORTECH X-3200. so I did a 20shot string to record the velocities pre and post spring change. The rifle is stripped and all parts cleaned with the new piston leather assembled and soaking in 3in1 oil for 12 hours as recommended before I reassemble it tomorrow. The 20 year old spring is absolute toast and the spring grease had turned to tar. The best I got out of it was 349 Ft/s and 4.18 ft/lb with 15.4 grain Marksman pellets as old as the gun. I have no idea what to expect from it tomorrow but I'll let you know. I'm thinking of getting a Gamo Maxim Elite, multishot springer, but that seems to be the one brand you don't stock?
Hello again Mr Sharpe! Yeah that's mainly what it's for.. I just wish they could've put a metal barrel weight on their instead just to finish it off. The plasticky silencer/cocking aid just cheapens it and it's a beautiful thing to look at otherwise.
Hi Mud Max! I have shot the Warhawk but I personally prefer the Sabres, accuracy is similar between both rifles but the Sabre has a far better trigger in my opinion. The fixed barrel on the Warhawk is more secure than a break barrel but considering how well made the Sabre rifles are I don't think barrel slop/droop will ever be a problem. Thanks Max and I hope this helps.
Big Dan got a hair cut YEAHHHHHHHH! Great review again and for a cheep springer not bad looking rifle, But i must bring up a bad point MAN FLU a horrible horrible thing we men get, and not only in the winter i may add, looking some info Dan do you deal with SMK ?

Hi Brian! Haha don't worry mate I haven't forgotten about you, the issue I've had is that our supplier is completely out of .177 PR's at the moment which seems to be the most popular calibre for them. Yes mate, a .22 cal test to be going on with would be good until you get hold of a .177 version of the pr900w. I am interested to see if all the issues on it have been now sorted. Especially the magazine and breech alignment probs.
Hi Dan, my shooting ground has been using the lockdown to develop an air rifle range alongside the clay layout and watching your videos has grabbed my interest in enjoying this discipline. Couple of quick questions about getting in to it, Remington Express or Sabre? Or do they really just share internals? and what's all the chatter about tuning? You suggested that the Sabre was very tuneable to really elevate the performance but tune what? Don't laugh this really is the first time I have wandered into this alien territory! Keep up the good work. Great ambassador for the discipline.
Hi Steve. Thanks for the kind comments it really means a lot. Both the Sabre and the Express are very similar rifles with the action being near identical and with the triggers being the same Remington trigger. According to my suppliers however the Sabre does indeed have some extra magic going on internally and I can say out of experience the Sabre on average does not twang on the same level as the Express. Both are excellent rifles however and although the Express may not have the fantastic stock of the TH or Sporter Sabre it's still a lovely rifle to shoulder. Regarding tuning there are multiple different things that can be done to the Sabres/Express rifles to get the most out of them (although this also goes with many springers). The most basic quick tuneup is to de-grease the internals and cover them in a light coating of moly grease as the internals will likely be smothered in a tar like packing grease. If you'd like to go a step further you can also polish the piston which is good for the rifle's consistency and also improves the feeling of the rifle's shot cycle. Re-finishing the spring tips can also help if the rifle is a bit twangy as standard. If you want to go even further with tuning there are quite a few tuning companies that provide drop in kits such as Woodfield GCP and Tinbum. The trigger can also be fine tuned by gentle polishing the sears making it more crisp to operate. There's quite a lot that can be done with these rifles and upgraded parts are readily available for them. That being said I'd definitely test the rifle first as both the Sabre and the Express's are usually pretty sweet out of the box especially for budget oriented rifles! I hope this helps mate and if you ever need anything else never hesitate to get in touch!
@@robsonsmith121 Hi Robson! The Sabre is a cracking bit of kit but it's not quite HW97 level. The trigger isn't as good (although still excellent for a budget rifle) and it lacks the weight to absorb the recoil that the 97 has make it feel slightly more jumpy. Thanks Robson and I hope this helps.
Hi SND! I know a few people that have done this with their Sabres with great effect. Just be careful with your warranty when doing so and make sure to properly recrown the barrel when you're done.
Been Waiting for this one ( & it took Me a week ! Shame ! before I could even watch it )Cracking looking rifle , Accurate (with the right pellets ! ) a touch heavy (including the scope !) , not a record trigger (but still good !) , like a Remington Express but less Twangy (My Express doesn't sound twangy to Me ! So maybe it's even better !) Like Dan I really like the look of this rifle ( & I even have enough cash saved to be able to purchase one ASAP ) What's not to like ! sounds like a real bargain , I'll know when I pick one up and shoulder it if I like the thumb hole stock or not , but now I can hardly wait to get My mitts on one , and then I will do what I did with My Express , swap the scope for something better with AO & mill dots , Try loads of different pellets ( I shall try RWS 5.52mm 15.59g Superfields First , which the Express absolutely loves ! and avoid the SMK Victories & JSB's as My Express doesn't like them , also Acccupells & Power Pell's as both make My Express diesel ! , Daystate Kaisers , & Sovereigns the Express likes these (My Wallet doesn't !) I'll also be trying Bisley Superfields H&N's of 2 or 3 different sorts plus a load of test pellets I got from PAX , and all the other odds & ends left in tins from other testing and pick its favourite ) Help ! I think I've just fallen in love again , Cracking review as always Dan and well worth the wait , I'll try not to be so late next time . Thanks for the show Keep up the good work Oh & I hope Your feeling better now . Ps if I buy one (subject to fit & feel ) I'll let You know how I get on Cheers !.
Hi Richard! The Sabre is a lovely bit of kit mate, it shares the same action as the Express XP but they've made a few refinements and given it a fancy new stock. That being said if you don't like the thumbhole stock there's also a standard sporter version. Regarding the stock believe it or not this is actually one of the most boring ones I've ever had. The others usually have lovely almost stripey grain going straight through them they really are gorgeous. Definitely let me know how you get on with one mate if you pick one up.

@@shaunwild8797 Hi Shaun. Try adjusting the screw just behind the trigger blade, it sounds like it has been over-adjusted. You should definitely have a first stage on that trigger. Sometimes they can leave the factory like this and we've had to adjust that first stage back into them.
@@shaunwild8797 Hi Phillip. Something is not quite right there it sounds like something might be up with the trigger spring. Did you buy the rifle new? It almost sounds like it has had the ball bearing tune done to it which makes the trigger almost like a hair trigger.

I reckon give it time and the Sabre will be one of the most popular rifles amongst tuners and springer shooters in general.. it really is a beautiful thing to look at and shoot. Cheers Phillip.
Hi Gary, Both are high powered rifles and usually exceed 11ft-lbs. Each rifle is slightly different however (this goes for every air rifle) and it'd be impossible to say which one is definitely more powerful than the other. The only true answer I can give is that they're both 11.5ft-lb rifles most of the time.. Thanks Gary.
Hi Martyn. I don't have an Express with me at the moment to confirm whether it'll fit or not but the actions externally are identical I believe so it should fit. Regarding the stock I'll contact SMK and see if we can get one ordered in for you if it helps. If interested get in touch with us at bigdansairguns.co.uk and I'll see what I can do! Thanks Martyn.
Hi Andries! With our 12ft-lbs power restrictions you could shoot/hunt with these up to 35 yards with no problems at all. However if it wasn't me pulling the trigger (so somebody more skilled... like a baboon perhaps) theoretically you could accurately shoot out to 50 yards but you'd need perfect conditions. Thanks Andries and I hope this helps.
Why don't you show the detail of the barrel locking and breech ? Also how about the underside of the rifle ? Show end of barrel and the underside of the trigger etc? So far you miss out a lot of data. ie. Pressure needed to break the barrel and pull barrel back. This is important for younger shooters and some women,do you not think? Be Blessed. PS.Pivot pin and fit of breech are also important as are the type of Barrel seals?
Hi Adam! That's because it is haha. The Sabre's are usually twang free straight out of the box which is a lovely change from most budget springers. Thanks Adam.
Big Dan's Airguns yeah had a look at some more and they just are aren’t they haha(Surprisingly for me though) I’m trying to buy one but I don’t think I can at the moment due to the situations going on right now 😢
Bipod? Mild recoil messes things up. It's a full power sniper springer. All about ranged 30+yard/40+Meter single shots. Use a cushion, sandbag or a pack of rice from the supermarket. Alternatively become six feet tall and fire standing-up with a keen eye. (this is a joke btw, but actally true ;))
So beautiful rifle but I feel bad for you guys and the UK 12 foot pounds that's how much energy my pellets end up hitting my targets at 100 yards leaving the barrel at 40 foot pounds of energy in the states I live in ConnecticutI don't buy a springer that is less than 27 ft pounds of energy my Remington 725 VTR is about 31 ft pounds of energy and I make 25 caliber hose through frying pans very thick frying 🍳
Bought one last week and tried the RWS superdomes. It was all over the place at first and I was a little upset about it, and mine needed bedding in with a few hundred pellets. Try different pellets if you can. A week on and it's shooting great. Friend who has springers and now uses Pcp's first comment was "bl***y h*ll!!!" at its power, physically jumped. Great rifle, but bed in and zero well for anything but a buck shot effect.
Hi Darren. I'm sorry to hear your Remington is a bit rough, just out of interest if it won't group look down the breech end of the barrel and tell me if you can see any odd debris in the rifling, we had a couple like that and they wouldn't shoot for toffee. Thanks Darren and sorry to hear your rifle is a bit naff.

I like to see in a 25 cal . That would be interesting.
Hahaha Lawson the Italian Welshman. I can't even imagine what that would sound like in real life.
They don't make them in a .25 cal I'm afraid mate but you're tempting me to make a .25 calibre review video!
@@bigdansairguns83 Hi Dan,
I did a bit of research, realising Pellpax may be having difficulty.
I only use PayPal for personal purchases however from what I've been hearing I'm tempted to close all of my accounts as it seems clear that they cannot be trusted.
@@henrysiegertsz8204 hey I have an asi paratrooper repeater… I’d love to know what you did to tune……….
I would call the" moderator "a cocking aid , as you say this rifle is a tinkerers delight 👍
Hello again Mr Sharpe!
Yeah that's mainly what it's for.. I just wish they could've put a metal barrel weight on their instead just to finish it off. The plasticky silencer/cocking aid just cheapens it and it's a beautiful thing to look at otherwise.
I like Springer's,do a review on Hatsan, air tact in 22,it has a 14 inch barrel, test it with Gamo 9grain, and the rws hobby 11grain.Thanks
Hi Ron,
thanks for the idea mate I'll add it to the list!
Cheers mate.
Your twang was spot on

Dan,please review the Remington warhawk .22 , thanks love your blogs.
Hi Dan. Have you tried the War Hawk? Just wondered if the underlever has any advantages? ATB MMMD
You weighed the rifle with the scope attached. It's advertised at 3.4 kg (7.5 lb)
Hi Scott you've genuinely made me laugh out loud with that comment. Yeah we don't look so much like a Beatle now eh haha.
Oh yes mate we understand the pain of man flu, If women think childbirth is bad they should experience man flu for just a day.

Nice review Dan, but I am still waiting for the smk pr900w review I asked for weeks and weeks ago ! Any idea when mate ? Cheers. Oh that's in .177 cal too plz.
Hi Brian!
Haha don't worry mate I haven't forgotten about you, the issue I've had is that our supplier is completely out of .177 PR's at the moment which seems to be the most popular calibre for them.
If you don't mind I'll order in a .22 PR900 and get the review sorted if you'd like. But for a .177 there will be a wait I'm afraid.
Thanks Brian and sorry for the delay mate but this one has been a bit out of my control.
Yes mate, a .22 cal test to be going on with would be good until you get hold of a .177 version of the pr900w. I am interested to see if all the issues on it have been now sorted. Especially the magazine and breech alignment probs.
@@briandix216 I'll get onto it for you mate.
a great rifle, my main rabbit gun.
@@bigdansairguns83 high dan is this gun as good as weihrauch 97kt
@@robsonsmith121 Hi Robson!
The Sabre is a cracking bit of kit but it's not quite HW97 level. The trigger isn't as good (although still excellent for a budget rifle) and it lacks the weight to absorb the recoil that the 97 has make it feel slightly more jumpy.
Thanks Robson and I hope this helps.
Is it a good idea and technically possible to make barrel shorter and replace silencer ?
Correction ! My Stubby thumbs for fingers hit 5 instead of 8 , So for RWS Superfield (Read 15.89g NOT 15.59 as stated above ) .
Can you do the hatsan 900x. Nobody does it any justice..
Maybe if you heat the silencer up with a hairdryer or heat-gun then it may expand and slide off?

is it more powerfull than the bsa super sport which is 11.5lb of power and costs £240
Hi Gary,
Both are high powered rifles and usually exceed 11ft-lbs. Each rifle is slightly different however (this goes for every air rifle) and it'd be impossible to say which one is definitely more powerful than the other.
The only true answer I can give is that they're both 11.5ft-lb rifles most of the time..
Thanks Gary.
Could I fit my express in this stock and if so, where/how would I get one?

I don't have an Express with me at the moment to confirm whether it'll fit or not but the actions externally are identical I believe so it should fit. Regarding the stock I'll contact SMK and see if we can get one ordered in for you if it helps.

22 is harder hitting
Hi mate what is the furthest range you can get with this rifle?
The JSB 13.4 gr fly a lot truer tham the 15+ grain from my LGU

Why don't you show the detail of the barrel locking and breech ? Also how about the underside of the rifle ? Show end of barrel and the underside of the trigger etc? So far you miss out a lot of data. ie. Pressure needed to break the barrel and pull barrel back. This is important for younger shooters and some women,do you not think? Be Blessed. PS.Pivot pin and fit of breech are also important as are the type of Barrel seals?
Why does it sound like the Guns REaLLY quite

Can I add a bipod to this rifle if so which one would you recommend? Cheers
