    I would still recommend the HW30, what it lacks in power it more than makes up for in charm.

      @@PlanetDrewdog While it wouldn't be my first choice for hunting, my HW30 with full length barrel in .22cal is accurate and produces over 8ftlb, enough to kill small game at close range. For plinking it's a brilliant little rifle and is my 'go to' springer for the garden. Cheers

    Nice looking rifle. Glad I'm in America though. I really enjoy the 31.99fpe from my hatsan 125 springer. I think the weakest of my 6 rifles is my crosman f4 with 16fpe in .177cal.

    I always ask folks to take off their rings when I share my rifles. I like how you had your rifles behind you. Nice touch.

    • @PlanetDrewdog
      @PlanetDrewdog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jace - yep my bad. Reckon I'd have to cut some of these rings off after all the years! Having said that, this Compact has marked straight away, though my other rifles show no ring damage - maybe a couple of tiny imperfections on the pro sport but I shoot that thing daily. Definitely not ideal though.

    • @JaceBell
      @JaceBell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I may ask folks to take their rings off, but I have failed in keeping my guns properly oiled which has resulted of course in some rust and pitting unfortunately. Now I slather them all in Ballistol.

    With clean or new barrels is it worth putting a tin of the cheapest pellets through them before looking at accuracy? Love short air rifles.

  • @MrRockstar1968
    @MrRockstar1968 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you considered putting weights on the barrel as that may help accuracy if you find the sweet spot?

    • @PlanetDrewdog
      @PlanetDrewdog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's a good way of going about it. I actually sold this rifle along with a bunch of others recently, I decided that all I needed was my PrSport and my cheap PCP - PR900 - to cover all my needs.

    • @PlanetDrewdog
      @PlanetDrewdog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Matthew, I heated it up then used a chunk of wood (with a cloth wrapped around it) - like a hammer - and it knocked off in seconds with no marks on the barrel.

  • @junglie
    @junglie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe they meant 7ft/lb at the target mate. say 20m downrange?

    • @PlanetDrewdog
      @PlanetDrewdog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah know what you mean, but even that don't add up. Hades are retaining 10 + FPE at target 25yds. I'll make a short chrono video using different weights though.

    • @junglie
      @junglie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PlanetDrewdog At least they underestimate the power, i remember chronoing airsporters for the first time after all the hype they were given when we grew up, what a disapointment, the worst one was an S model too ,8ft/lbs & the tightest fitting piston i've ever found even without the buffer washer & o ring fitted, the owner insisted i fit an ox spring he'd bought for it & refused my offer to polish the piston up for a nice fit, , talk about polishing a turd.......

    Pretty nice looking 👍. It might need a spring guide shim, it sounds like it has a lot of vibration/twang.
    Personally I believe the HW30s has plenty of power for rats within respectable ranges. That big fat squirrel I shot the other day was at least 20 yards. I aimed at the neck and the pellet hit exactly right between the neck and the head going straight into the squirrel brain, DRT, lol🙂👍.

    I do not think it is avaible in North murica and it doesn't look like the usual Crosman made "Remington"
    _I wished all the manufacturers rated the energy like this instead of trying to make numbers look better with alloy speeds_

    • @PlanetDrewdog
      @PlanetDrewdog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, agreed. It would be no hardship for manufacturers to test with, say, two ammo types - one alloy, one lead - and print power figures together with pellet weight. At least it'd give us a clue...
