Every year there is one artist and song I get hugely excited about, and this year it’s Sam Ryder. His powerful voice, his enthusiasm, his positivity, his genuineness has been a joy to follow….and he has a superb song. I am hearing from all sides that this song is likely to emerge as the winner and deservedly so. However, let's take the "comparison" thing out of music and admire artists for being UNIQUE. I believe Sam is unique.I mean this as a compliment. By the time this comment is published it will already be obsolete BUT let's admire him for one thing eh? He didn't think he was "too good" or that Eurovision was "not cool enough". I predict that Sam will be so sensational, he will transcend all genres and become a true superstar.
People in the UK do not give this competition the respect it deserves granted the last time we won was in 1997 I can also understand the anger. The fact that it became so political was wrong. Countries that deserved to have won got nothing and I am not just talking ours. This show held so many memories for me it was my moms favourite show and my dad was Irish so the year that it was held in Ireland and no one can tell you who actually won that year but everyone can remember RIVERDANCE. It was without any doubt the best interval EVER. No other country has surpassed that. My dad shed tears and to have known my dad he didn't cry EVER. My mom and I sat every year through the show we loved it. Yet after Katrina won it was like as a collective the rest turned on the UK and it didn't matter who we sent we knew that it was never going to be good enough. The humiliation we put our artists through was despicable, when we should have done is send no one and in all honesty brought the rules of the competition to light why were we in every single competition when the rules stated all bottom 5 went out. Because we give in the most money. My mom and dad passed away and since then I have yet to watch another Eurovision. Then someone sent me a link to Sam and I was so impressed and he is such a happy person I decided once again to tune in. I think everyone knew that UKRAINE would win and while that was a good gesture what you have all done is put this huge responsibility on their shoulders they are still at war their country is in disarray when ever this ends for them will they be in a position to hold such a competition with so many countries involved. Sam Ryder hold your head up with pride you did yourself proud and gave our country it's pride back.

I'm glad after last year's and the previous year's Road to EV were one of the few wins (apart from James's attitude) of last year for us, so I'm so glad to see it return. Sam is everything we could ask for and I'm really encouraged by how much love he seems to be getting both here and abroad. I don't think we'll win but I'm cautiously optimistic for the top ten which isn't something I'd have envisioned after last year.
