Once you guys get it excavated you should build a small shed over the entrance so you can keep it locked when people aren't touring. Also would help prevent rain from flooding it
The time went so quick watching this, and I love that Matt always gets his hands dirty. I think that you need to name one of your lodges after the 'Cave Boys" - they are a great bunch of men, who are so knowledgable and willing to explore and have fun with you all, keeping it safe as well. Another great episode.
Battery powered chisel would help a bunch, and just for further edification... grease is a LOT cheaper than bushings. Take care of your equipment so it will take care of you.
@@hackerpablo8792 I am aware. But either way, using heavy equipment and working long hours in a poorly ventilated hole is not good. Just wondering what will they do to fix the ventilation issues. Like they said at the latter half of the video that it's getting moist in the hole.
Hey Matt. Love your show been watching g for years. Love the resort episodes especially when looking for caves. I just wanted to mention that while digging out your newest cave you have multiple people down there with only 1 passage for air. It may be beneficial for you to invest in a small ventilation fan to pump fresh air down the hole. They are relatively cheap on Amazon I use 2 large ones for when I weld in overhead confined spaces 1 for exhaust 1 for fresh air. Just looking out for ya'll. Love your channel and what you are doing on the resort can't wait for more episodes.
You guys are doing awesome work, really enjoying it. Can you suggest to Matt to check out a Hydro Vac? It is way faster and safer, he will still have to lift out the bigger rocks, but they are amazing. I hope to see you back on the show, also I subbed to your all channels too.
The way Matt finds new hobbies and groups within the hobbies and instantly they just seem like part of the group is so fun to watch. It happens so often
As someone that has worked in confined spaces. Get some air handlers and hose out there. You can either vacuum air out of the hole pulling fresh air down the hole or push fresh air down pushing air out the hole.
Matt buy a cordless chipping gun and a 2" or 3" spade bit for it. Not to break the rocks apart but to loosen all the dirt as you go. I dug out the crawl space under my parents house and we carried the dirt out in 5 gallon buckets. We filled 3, 27 yard bins and having the chipping gun made a HUGE difference!!. Also, grease your machines! Please grease your tools!!!! Love the content! Thank you for sharing.❤❤
They make 'Clay Spade' bits specifically for clay. 4-1/2 is the standard. Cordless units wont really work well for them, but a small generator and a proper extension cord would be VERY servicable.
I can see ALL the equipment operators gritting their teeth at every grinding sound those pins are making. Then looking at all the comments below LMAO yup Matt GREASE THOSE ANGRY BUSHINGS AND PINS !!! Please
Matt, slow down swinging your gopro and look at the "ceiling" of the cave, @ 21:24, I saw either "RM" or an Anthropomorph and a Stylized Line drawn on the ceiling, plus look closer at the black staining, it's probably mineral leaching but it might be smoke/ soot staining. Other than that, stay safe.
I saw that and wondered if it was one of the cave guys that scribbled it on there. I know in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, they used burned sticks to write on the cave ceilings and walls and they dated back to the late 1800's. It was really cool to see.
I really enjoyed listening to the clear communications between everyone. Getting the job done while protecting each other. This is a great example of teamwork.
Matt, you guys and gal digging out this cave as much and as far as you can is interesting and entertaining, good stuff! Keep going, and if it ends up being fairly big in the end, put an anchored, steel, welded ladder down into it so it can be a thing for visitors to your adventure ranch resort to check out. These caver friends you've made are a cool group and they are very knowledgeable, experienced and fearless. We like them.
A tip... keep at least a couple of feet of flat ground between your dirt piles and the edge of the hole. It keeps things from falling into the hole as easily... (and its actually an osha regulation for that reason)

You actually doing it matt. I think the cave is going to be bigger than expected. You might hit water at some point too. It would be a nice start for some resort dwellers to come and take a look, even if its small it might be less scary for people that are scared of caves. Definitely repurpose the rocks, maybe make a retaining wall around the hole with it or structure around the hole or use it to builda house or use the rocks to rebuild the restaurant.

They make little air bags to put into drill holes for blasting to prevent dirt from backfilling the hole before explosives can be applied, maybe you can find an air bag that's big enough to fill the space of a tunnel so you could dig out the area? Might be something worth looking into for later.
Build a tripod set up over the key of entrance and use a winch to pull the Rocks up make it a lot faster and easier. You can also extend the Boom for the backhoe Over the Hole a chance of snatch blocks to that so you can use your winch to pull up from that too.

Yeah, that thing needs to be greased and it needs to have the hydraulic fluid checked

Once you guys get it excavated you should build a small shed over the entrance so you can keep it locked when people aren't touring. Also would help prevent rain from flooding it
It’ll still flood but good idea for keeping people out
Also for legal purposes - if anybody breaks in and gets injured, they can’t sue…
Well, it won’t flood if you just blah blah blah etc……

I think a vac truck or hydro excavation truck would help a ton with the dirt and small rocks….. and maybe a grease gun
I was thinking the same thing, waaaay faster
Vac truck for sure or at least a air compressor (long hose with a pipe and nozzle) to break up the dirt and clay. Hydro truck would make a bigger mess
💯 that's funny I just said the same. Would save them lots of hard labor and be much faster
Yeah i also want and m3 grease gun. That gun saved the world from the world its crazy how we dont sell them
Same here
Battery powered chisel would help a bunch, and just for further edification... grease is a LOT cheaper than bushings. Take care of your equipment so it will take care of you.
For real! You take care of them and they keep going. Sort of like caring for your guns.
I'm no expert, but as oxygen is a light gas how do they make sure they won't be breathing carbon dioxide or other harmful gasses, which are heavier.
90,000 $ for a bag of Bushings!
@@hackerpablo8792 I am aware. But either way, using heavy equipment and working long hours in a poorly ventilated hole is not good. Just wondering what will they do to fix the ventilation issues. Like they said at the latter half of the video that it's getting moist in the hole.

As someone that has worked in confined spaces. Get some air handlers and hose out there. You can either vacuum air out of the hole pulling fresh air down the hole or push fresh air down pushing air out the hole.
This absolutely needs to get seen.
If only the backhoe didn't scream for help the entire time causing 10000 comments about it
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Hoping there is fresh air down there. They need a "sniffer" to check atmosphere for oxygen and other gases.
