    Brian I’m new to fly fishing this year, it’s been something I’ve been telling myself to do since I was a kid. You have single handedly taught my how to fly fish. Watching your videos I truly feel confident enough to actually do it. I can’t thank you enough. These videos are helpful beyond words.

    Love the intro. Never saw colors that looked so smooth but today that changed = smooth like butter 😎. The explanation of looping on and off leaders for nymphing or dry flies was spot on. I truly appreciate and enjoy the way you teach. God bless the work of your hands. Tony

  • @davesimpson803
    @davesimpson803 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You could always have two spools set up for your reel. One set up with a nymph line and the other with a floating line. I set this up earlier this year and it is pretty slick (you could say “like butter”). No messing with coiling your leaders to swap them and getting tangled and frustrated. Then you can still get away from the manufactured loops. A little more of an investment but it’s working for me 👍🏼.

    You could also carry a 2nd rod that's set up for dries. I use a 3rd hand belt rod holder that's perfect for this situation, especially while wading in the middle of the river. Just a thought.

  • @JJ9763

    I swap between flies like this regularly, and keep commonly used bugs pre-tied on the appropriate leader in a rig-keeper for even faster swaps - though I have always used the factory welded loop. The one pain point with this is that the welded loop is not quite big enough to pass big dries and streamers through without smushing them or risking damage to the loop. My (untested) suggestion would be to ensure you tie a big enough loop in that snelled butt section to pass your bigger bugs through if swapping complete rigs - I may just use this method to fix this problem for myself!

    How long should this pre leader piece I call it be round about? I mean the mono part from fly line to the little round ring where you tie your actual leaders on and can change them.
    I have an issue with finding the right size I think.

    What kind of a fly box would you need to store these leaders in, leader for a dry , leader for a nymph, and a steamer ? I like the idea just don't know where you'd put the leader you take off or the leaders you would have with you to change from one the the other.
